Ellen Sawin of Disney Cruise Line about Fun for the Entire Family and World Entertainment on the Disney Destiny

00:00It's Coop for Big 98 One Live aboard the Disney Destiny. The sun's coming up behind us. We're on

00:05our way to Lookout Cave, but I mean, last night was so much fun. I can't wait to explore more

00:09of this incredible cruise line today. I'm with Ellen Salwin, who's we're going to talk about

00:12all things family fun today, right, Ellen? Yes, we are. All right, so I have three kids. My oldest

00:16is 12. My youngest is seven, and they had an absolute blast yesterday from all the things

00:22from, like, the dining and all that, but, like, I've, this is my first, it's all of our first

00:25cruise, by the way. Amazing. I've never been on a vacation before where you can drop

00:29your kids off and then go have some adult fun, which we did at Caskin Cannon, watched some

00:34football last night, and I thought for sure that the kids would be, that they would want

00:38us back, right? When I went to go get my seven-year-old from the kid zone, he did not want to leave,

00:43and it was 9.30 at night. Absolutely. They're having a blast. Let's talk about all the things

00:48that you can do, because obviously there's the pool, there's the slides, but there's so much

00:51more on this ship. There's so much more, and what I love about a Disney cruise is there's

00:55really something, regardless of your age, for you to do, have fun, and so to your point,

00:59the kids are in our Oceaneer Kids Club, and they're doing everything from the Walt Disney

01:04Imagineering Lab, where they're making a roller coaster, and then they get to ride it. They're

01:09learning how to be superheroes with Black Panther, Spider-Man, like, how could you want to leave?

01:14Like, I'll be honest, I want to go hang out there, but then on the flip side, we want to make sure

01:18the adults are having fun, too, and as someone without kids, I come, I bring my fiancé, and we

01:23have a great time going, watching sports, playing trivia, going to the shows. There's genuinely

01:29something, regardless of your age, that you're going to have an amazing time.

01:32All right, so let's talk about the adults for a second. We'll come back to the kids and some

01:36of the cool things that they can do, because I just saw those slides a few minutes ago as I went to go

01:39check out that sunrise. So last night, we did the Cask and Cannon. A couple of people that I'm here

01:44with did the Haunted Mansion, so let's talk about bars and alcohol and that kind of stuff, too.

01:47Yes, honestly, there's so many different opportunities. So whether you're going to

01:51DeVille's, which is our 101 Dalmatians-inspired piano lounge, so you're getting that piano music,

01:57you might even get a special surprise from somebody. Or my favorite of all of them is the Sanctum.

02:02So this is Doctor Strange-inspired, and while I'm not the biggest Marvel person, the drinks are an

02:09experience. When you want to think of that, like, sorcerer magic, they are bringing these drinks to life

02:15with that magic. There is a levitating drink. Like, it doesn't touch the table. You can put

02:21your hand underneath it. I don't understand it, but talk about an experience. And then,

02:27of course, Cask and Cannon, I'm a sports girly. That is my place to be. Monday Night Football,

02:32you know, you're just having a great time.

02:33But they had some sort of floating, I don't know what it was. Someone ordered a drink,

02:36and there was a bubble in the air with the bartender. I don't know what that was, but it was amazing.

02:39That's what I'm telling you. They are doing so many different things. It doesn't matter which of the

02:43lounges or bars that you're in. There are specialty mocktails, cocktails for everybody.

02:47It's almost like it's Disney magic. I know!

02:50Speaking of that Disney magic, let's talk about the Aquamouse and some of these really cool

02:54things that the kids get to be a part of on the show.

02:57Yes, the Aquamouse. So this is our very own water attraction at sea. And so when you think of a water

03:02attraction, you're probably thinking of slides, you're in a raft, you go up and down, you know,

03:06zigzagging left and right. But now add on this show element where you're going to go along with

03:12Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse as they encounter some of their favorite and scary villains and

03:18water shooting out at you. It really just adds that 3D, 4D element to the attraction. And by the

03:24way, you're doing it all on the upper decks of the ship while you're traveling through the ocean.

03:29What else could you be looking for?

03:30I'm so glad that you brought up the villains because that's the other thing. There's just so

03:33much to cover, right? When you get on the ship, there's a villains, there's a hero's theme

03:38kind of throughout the entire ship and whatever it is that you're participating in, right?

03:42Yes. So it really is the motif of the entire ship. So when you're going through Experience

03:46Everything, you've got some of those Disney heroes and villains that you just absolutely love.

03:52One of my favorite moments is when you've got Loki and he takes over the Grand Hall.

03:56Yeah.

03:56Like where else can you do that? It is only on a Disney cruise.

04:00It is. Again, my kids, my two boys absolutely loved the Loki. It was incredible yesterday.

04:19I want to talk about that because I saw when I went to the kid zone, there was an open house

04:22yesterday. So I got to see that kid zone when I was dropping my youngest son cash off.

04:26But there's even this kind of toy story area for the toddlers, right?

04:29Yes. We've got different areas for the different ages and the whole time they're being watched over by

04:34specially trained Disney counselors. So you can really, as the adults, go have a good time

04:38knowing that they're having a blast. And there's even, you know, special splash pads for different

04:43ages. So it really is catered to whatever age your kids are.

04:46Whatever age they are, you're going to have fun. If you just want to go and take your husband,

04:49your fiance, your girlfriend, wife, whatever it is, there's something for you too.

04:53You don't need, you don't have to have kids. You're going to have a great time.
