00:00Hey, it's Coop with Big981 live from beautiful Fort Lauderdale, Florida. We are at the Riverside
00:04Hotel here on Las Olas Boulevard with Brett Lakin, who's the Chief Marketing Officer of
00:08Visit Florida. I'm excited to talk to you, man, because I love this state. I've been to a bunch
00:13of different places, and I'm sure that I haven't come anywhere close to seeing maybe even 5% of
00:17Florida. I've been to Orlando with the family of the kids. We've done the Disney thing. Went to
00:22Anna Maria Island last year, which was an absolutely incredible place. Like any good dad
00:27should do. I took my kids to Hooters when we went through Daytona, and now we're here in Fort
00:32Lauderdale. So we've seen a lot. I'm glad you got to Hooters before they all closed because that is a
00:36bucket list item now. So talk to me about Florida. Talk to me about maybe some of the things that I
00:41haven't even imagined that you could do. So like the other 95%? Correct. All right, dude. No. So
00:47truly what you said is so accurate. We love Orlando and the theme parks. We love the beaches. There's
00:53just so much more in between. Yeah. And that's why we call it Florida days. Whatever it is,
00:58whatever you need, go have yourself a Florida day. So you're here with the kids. And let's say you are
01:03in Orlando. Yeah. You're doing the theme parks. Fantastic. But right there, you can actually go
01:08zip lining over alligators. Didn't know that. There you go. I've been to Orlando four times. Didn't
01:14know. Okay. So that's what we call find the new in the known. Yeah. You can also go just north of
01:19there and there are springs and these crystal clear springs have these manatees, which are just
01:23majestic sea cow, but you can get into water and swim with them. Oh, wow. See, there we go. We're
01:29planning your Florida. We're already knocking things off the list. You know what? You're staying
01:33down here with me next time. I'm going to tour guide you. Don't tease me like that. Cause I'll
01:37take it, man. I'll take you up on that opportunity. You get me inked up and you can stay at my place.
01:41We're good to go. So I think it's in, by the way, we're giving away your chance to come here to
01:45beautiful Fort Lauderdale experience the amazing food that we had last night at the wild seas here
01:49on Las Olas. I mean, absolutely delicious. And I think when people think about Florida,
01:53especially from Philly, right? Cause we love Florida, Florida, we golf and Florida. So I'm
01:58from Jersey. Now you say Florida and I get so much crap from, from everyone, every meeting,
02:03like Florida. Do you say golf? A G O L F. How do you say it? I'm not from Boston. I'm telling
02:08you in Florida, they say golf. We golf in Florida. And obviously you can golf in Florida. You can
02:12have delicious food. You can go to the amazing beaches, but like today is a great example and
02:17you can hop on social media at big 98 one Philly and see us going paddle boarding. Yeah. Like
02:21with a, with a Corgi, I think is what we're going to be paddle boarding with a water taxi.
02:25Here's a cool thing, right? Like you can paddle board in the ocean or you can paddle board in
02:29the calmer waters of the intracoastal. Love it. Yeah. And so that's the whole thing. It's adventure
02:34for beginners. It's whatever you need, whatever you're sorry to come back to whatever your
02:38Florida days is, whatever you're looking for. And it's kind of that excuse for adventure
02:42for beginners and try things, whether it's a zip lining, if you go and you can snorkel
02:47here, you know, fantastic scuba and snorkeling, but we have underwater trails with artwork buried
02:53right off the coast and you just snorkel around and see what it is. Yeah. And it's walk in,
02:59snorkel, walk out at whatever you want. And then you could go back to that, that theme park.
03:04You can hop on bright line here and take it right up to Orlando. So if somebody is looking,
03:07cause the other thing is you guys have beautiful weather here for the most part in Florida. I mean,
03:10it is the sunshine state, right? And I I've been for the Tortuga music festival,
03:14which is actually right on the beach here in Fort Lauderdale. I understand that there's a,
03:18is it a boat show that's happening like right over here on the international boat show. So
03:21people plan their events, these big events in Florida because of the beautiful weather and
03:25the beautiful atmosphere. And so if I'm someone listening right now and I think, you know what,
03:28I want to plan a visit to Florida. What's the best thing for them to do to kind of see all the
03:32things that are happening? Selfishly, you could go to visit florida.com and our things to do page
03:38and just go on there. But down here in the visit Lauderdale, they have a website as well. All of
03:44our destinations do, and it's just an abundance of things to do, depending on what you want to do.
03:48And you can just sift it through your, your needs, your lifestyle, whether it's kids, whether it's,
03:52Hey, I want to take the kids here. And then, uh, the adults want to go do something. Well,
03:56you're in Lauderdale. It's a Michelin destination. So you're talking about that food last night.
04:00There's a ton more to experience here. And we, we are, um, we are so diverse in our experiences
04:09from South Florida up to North Florida off the panhandle with, I think it's about 12 to 13 hours.
04:15If I want to drive from here to Pensacola, Pensacola, go see the blue angels. Now, again,
04:20I'm not saying that you should do that because Fort Lauderdale is amazing and you can spend a week
04:25here and still not even see 5%. It's true. And it's whatever you want to
04:30to do because you can have that fancy meal. I've also been to a couple of dive bars in Fort
04:33Lauderdale. You want to do that? You can do that. You can go relax at the beach and have a cocktail
04:38or maybe just enjoy the sunshine. I'm going to put you on the spot for a second. Okay. As the chief
04:42marketing officer, if you had to tell someone, okay, you're coming to Florida, you got one day.
04:47What do you tell them to do one day in Florida? Where are they going? What are they doing?
04:51I mean, I am putting them on the spot. How do you, how do you, how do you do that? It depends on what
04:57I would go golfing. Okay. All right. That's just my thing. There's some, I mean, golf capital of the
05:02world. Um, but I think here, if I came to Fort Lauderdale, my day would be walking down Los
05:08Olas, having a nice breakfast. I'd probably go to the Everglades, take an airboat ride, experience what
05:14you can't see anywhere else in the world. I would come back, go to the beach. Just, you know, the,
05:20the water is a, it's not the West coast of Florida, of the United States, man. Right? Like you don't
05:25need a wetsuit basically anytime. Go have fun, then come back and maybe do one of these water taxi
05:30rides and see some of these ridiculous, the yachts and the mansions, dude. It's, it's a pretty cool day.
05:37That is really cool. And that's just day one. So you got to live more Florida days. That's what we're
05:41talking about. We can get you your trip here. You can enter to win right now at big 98 one.com.
05:46Brett. Thank you so much. Thank you. Appreciate it.
