00:00I know you said you initially wrote this book for your mother, so what was the experience like watching this movie for the first time, knowing how personal it was to you?
00:09Well, I watched it for the first time sitting next to her, so that was extremely nerve-wracking going into, hoping that she loved it, and she cried the whole way through it.
00:19You know, we hugged for a long time afterward. It was just a very full-circle moment.
00:23I know, casting this movie as well, a lot of praise for Blake Lively in this role. What makes her the right choice to lead this film?
00:33Oh my gosh, she's just so talented, and such a woman's woman, and such a mother, and seeing her with her kids, and then in this role, it's such a good depiction of a mother loving her daughter.
00:47And so I just feel like from her own experiences and her own talent, there's no one that would have been more perfect. She's so good.
00:55No, this story obviously deals with a lot of heavy themes. Was there a particular scene that you discussed in depth that was hard to work through?
01:05Oh gosh, this whole movie is, you know, you want to walk the line very carefully. You don't want to do it wrong.
01:12And so I really appreciated how everyone on the set, you know, sought so much feedback, and were very open to anyone who would give their feedback.
01:24And also just reaching out to certain organizations. I know Justin did that quite a bit, to get feedback and advice on the film and the script.
01:32And in the editing room, you know, just all of the care and love that went into those delicate scenes.
01:40Like, I couldn't have been happier with the hands that this movie landed in.
01:44I know, the fans want to know, are we going to be getting, and it starts with us, movie?
01:49I hope so. Unfortunately, that's not up to me. Like, you know, they own those rights, so if they want to make it, I'm all for it. I hope so.
01:57So, any dream cast for your next screen adaptation for Verity?
02:01Listen, we are discussing casting next week, and so I need to get on that, because right now they're all just blurs in my head.
02:09But I'm just so excited that one's, you know, starting to take off, and we've got the script done, and that one's going to be so much fun.
