In this video lesson, we will learn about Using the IF Function in Microsoft Excel
Transcript
00:00So let's see how we can actually go ahead and utilize the if function inside of Excel,
00:10which is one of the most widely used function in Microsoft Excel. So let's say for example,
00:16if I were to go ahead and type in 1, then it says no. And if I were to type in 2, then it says yes.
00:22So for that, I'm going to press equals and I'm going to type in if right here, just like this,
00:27and open up a bracket. Once I do that, I'm going to take this as a reference that is a1. So if a1 is,
00:35let's say for example, equal to 1, then I want it to say no. So I'm going to press comma right here
00:41and open up, let's say for example, inverted comma right here, double inverted comma, so that I can
00:47write in my text yes or no. So you can see that it says false because it is not 1. So I'm just going
00:54to go around over here right here. 1 is yes. So if I were to type in 1, it says yes. 2, it says false.
01:01But if I, if it is other than 1, then let's say I want it to say no. So I'm going to press comma
01:07after yes right here, open up, let's say for example, another inverted comma, type in no right here and
01:12press enter. So it says no. So you can see that this is 1 and this is no right here, just like this.
01:19And that is simply how you can use the if condition. You can even go ahead and let's say,
01:23for example, type in number like 100 right here, just like this. And over here for the no,
01:28you can go ahead and type in, let's say, for example, 200, press enter. And now what happens
01:33is that when you type 1, it's 100. Type any other other letter right here that any that is any other
01:39number, then you get 200 right here. You can even go ahead and let's say, for example, type in
01:46a text value like yes, but it does need to be under double inverted comma. So if I were to say yes,
01:52then it's 100. Then if I were to type anything else, it is 200 right there. So that is how you can go
01:59ahead and use the if condition that is the if function inside of Microsoft Excel. So hope you
