00:10The following program documents a real homicide case,
00:41Hey, man. Stay with me, okay?
00:43First responders find a man shot in the head and clinging to life.
00:48Keep breathing. Keep breathing. Stay with us.
00:50But he doesn't survive.
00:56For those most affected by homicide...
00:59To lose your child, to lose your baby, it hurt me to my core.
01:03The first 48 is just the beginning.
01:06It looked like the suspect and victim had no previous interactions together.
01:11That added to the pressure on me because I knew that this was going to be a random crime.
01:16This is the story of the fight for justice.
01:20There's no fingerprint that's going to put him at the QT.
01:22Is there any identification?
01:24The answer is pure and simple.
01:27No.
01:27My client had not pulled a gun until he felt that his life was in jeopardy.
01:34In the weeks, months, and years.
01:37If the defense was able to attack that evidence, then it's like a Jenga puzzle.
01:43The whole case could topple.
01:45After the first 48.
01:57I was just at home.
01:59I just got back from church with my family.
02:01This was my first homicide.
02:03I was just actually assigned to the homicide unit.
02:06So I was a little nervous.
02:08There was a lot of pressure on me.
02:09There was a lot of pressure on me.
02:19Hey.
02:22Can I wait on me?
02:2529-year-old Bradley Coleman grew up in Norcross, Georgia.
02:30He was a special education teacher and created his own clothing line.
02:34He leaves behind his parents, brother, and a six-year-old daughter.
02:38We're the voice for the voiceless.
02:41So I tackle every case with, you know, 150% because we're working to give the family the closure they deserve.
02:48Single gunshot wound to the head.
02:51Here's a showcase.
02:54Next to Bradley, the team finds a 9mm casing, a face mask, and a gun holster.
03:02This is his car.
03:04There's a phone in the car.
03:06Wallet.
03:07A holster right there on top.
03:08There were two empty holsters.
03:10So the victim probably had their own gun.
03:12And it appeared that the victim's gun may have been stolen.
03:17It's definitely unusual for this type of violence to occur in broad daylight at a very crowded gas station.
03:22So we needed to put a picture together as far as what actually took place.
03:27One hour in.
03:28I'm in this black Impala right here.
03:30A witness comes forward.
03:32He says a black Mercedes sedan pulled up next to Bradley's car.
03:43He saw the victim putting air into his tires.
03:47He then saw the suspect get out of the Mercedes and get into the victim's vehicle.
03:52He says Bradley got into the passenger side of his car and began fighting with the suspect.
04:03Then I saw the other guy coming off a Mercedes with a gun.
04:06A second suspect ran to Bradley's car.
04:11The other guy who was putting air heels has a gun.
04:15How many shots did you hear?
04:16I heard a sound.
04:17Did you see what the person looked like that he was fighting with?
04:22Um, black.
04:25Or the army, 25, 30.
04:27Black shorts.
04:28He says the suspects fled in the Mercedes.
04:31He said it had an out-of-state tag with white-blue coloring on it.
04:35It would have been great if he could have specifically given me a tag number.
04:38But most people just aren't thinking about that.
04:40It's a stressful situation.
04:43Right now it would appear that this is going to be an attempted carjacking armed robbery.
04:48It looked like the suspect and victim had no previous interactions together.
04:53Knowing that added a little bit to the pressure on me because I knew that this was going to be a random crime.
04:59There's a lot of cameras over here.
05:01While the team downloads the surveillance video.
05:08We're going to go to an address that's on the driver's license for the victim.
05:11You can learn a lot from the victim's family, about the victim, who they might be affiliated with, friends or enemies.
05:20The officer said, I'm sorry to inform you that Bradley was involved in a shooting.
05:33He did not make it from his gunshot wound.
05:35At that moment, I think I went into shock.
05:40I just could not believe what I was hearing.
05:42The first thing came to my mind, who would want to do something like that to Bradley?
05:47Everybody loves him.
05:49Nobody disliked Bradley.
05:50As hard as you try not to be emotional about these cases, I think it definitely impacts you while you're investigating it.
06:18But we learned Bradley's gun was legally bought.
06:21It was his gun.
06:22He had every right to carry it.
06:25So at that point, finding the Mercedes was critical because until I could definitively identify that car, I wasn't going to be able to figure out who was in it.
06:37Eight hours in.
06:41Did you get your quick check video?
06:43Yes.
06:43Knowing that we had surveillance footage, that was huge because the victim can't speak.
06:48So hopefully the video could point us in the right direction of our suspects.
06:54There's the Mercedes.
07:01Passenger gets out.
07:02One of the suspects gets out of the backseat of the Mercedes and jumps into Bradley's car.
07:08They slide in there, they throw it in reverse, and they try and take the actual vehicle.
07:12It's called a slider theft.
07:15They stop.
07:17Another suspect got out of the front passenger seat, which meant that there was still somebody driving that Mercedes.
07:22So I knew I was looking for at least three suspects.
07:25That's where they're fighting.
07:28They tussle.
07:31He gets shot right as he gets out of the car.
07:34Damn.
07:35Damn.
07:35The guy goes back to the car for something.
07:42And when he ran back to the Mercedes, I could actually see something fall off of his face, a blue surgical COVID mask.
07:49There you go.
07:50We can get DNA off of that.
07:52I knew it would take some time to get the DNA back, but that was a huge piece of evidence to have.
07:57You can't make out a tag or anything like that.
07:59That's the problem.
08:00And we weren't able to identify suspects because the cameras were too far away.
08:06It was too grainy.
08:07So we knew that we needed to start checking the flock cameras and just had to sift through hundreds of images until we located a black Mercedes with a light blue tag.
08:1726 hours in, around like 1130, the Mercedes is sitting on flock.
08:32Less than an hour before the shooting, a Mercedes with out-of-state plates appears a half mile from the crime scene.
08:38It's, like, he comes screaming up behind the sky.
08:44It was the only black Mercedes with an out-of-state license plate in that area around the time of that crime.
08:51What's the tag again?
08:53Charlie Victor.
08:55The most recent address comes back to this address?
08:58The license plate checks back to a woman in Chicago.
09:02She has at least three kids in the Winnett County area.
09:07But I didn't necessarily want to go knocking on doors and making phone calls just yet.
09:11Because if the registered owner is involved, you don't want to tip them off too early because then you might lose other evidence that could actually end up solving the case.
09:20With only six hours left in the first 48.
09:30They were able to track the vehicle on flock the night before the murder down to Atlanta to a Texaco station.
09:38Harrison gets a lead from an officer in the West Precinct.
09:43You can see on the street cams that it's in this Texaco for, like, 30 minutes.
09:46We were very hopeful that we were going to be able to get footage from that night prior and actually see who was in the vehicle.
09:54Then.
09:55Your vehicle's on the move.
09:57Another flock camera just picked up the Mercedes in DeKalb County, 30 miles southwest of Winnett.
10:04We were static when we heard that the Mercedes was moving.
10:07We wanted to get down there to get it stopped.
10:10We were hoping our killers are inside the car when we stop it.
10:16This is where Brad really started, playing football.
10:25I used to bring him here every day when he was playing in the rec league.
10:30Brad and his dad were really close.
10:34My son idolized my husband.
10:37He loved his mom, but his daddy was his guy.
10:41Brad was the type of kid, he was a leader on the field and off the field.
10:44He got a four-year scholarship, came back, took on that road, coaching, football, basketball.
10:53When he passed away, so many people came to us and gave us so many wonderful testimonies about his character and who he was, how he showed up for them.
11:04I think about him a lot.
11:05I think about him every day.
11:07It's an honor to be Brad Father.
11:10Hopefully one day we'll have Bradley Coleman's name out here.
11:15Yep.
11:16Yep.
11:18As the first 48 slips away...
11:34I knew that I had a lot of work ahead to figure out all three people that were using that car.
11:42While one team tracks the Mercedes that just appeared on Flock in DeKalb County, Harrison and Jorstad arrive at the gas station where the suspect's vehicle was seen the night before the murder.
11:53We'll see if we can find it real quick.
11:58Oh, here it is.
12:01Pulls up.
12:04He gets out of the passenger seat of the car.
12:09There we go.
12:11Dude, the day of the homicide, one of the suspects was wearing that sweatshirt.
12:16This is awesome.
12:18Luckily, we were able to get clear face shots of them, walk around the aisles and checking out.
12:25He bought a blue COVID mask.
12:28Damn.
12:29That was huge because we knew from the video at Quick Trip, a COVID mask was dropped.
12:35Let's see what happens outside.
12:38He got out of the driver's seat.
12:41This is phenomenal.
12:42But I didn't see a third suspect get out of the car.
12:46So I knew that it was going to be difficult to identify the third suspect.
12:49And we still needed a whole lot more evidence before we were able to arrest the two from the Texaco footage.
12:57The next night in Clayton County, an hour south of Gwinnett.
13:01We got it.
13:02We got it.
13:03Patrol locates the suspect vehicle.
13:06I was excited.
13:08I was hoping that the car was going to have three suspects.
13:11The same people who were in it at the Texaco and the Quick Trip, possibly with all the evidence, the gun, Bradley's gun.
13:18Is that your car?
13:19No, it's fine.
13:20But they find a woman behind the wheel.
13:23Whose car is that?
13:24I'm not sure.
13:25Who's it here?
13:26She claims a man dropped the Mercedes off yesterday after her sister rented it for cash.
13:31Once I was able to verify that she had taken possession of that Mercedes after the homicide,
13:37I didn't believe that she was going to be involved in the actual homicide.
13:40There was little disappointment, but we knew now that we needed to talk to whoever rented out this vehicle,
13:47and hopefully they could point us in the right direction, our suspects.
13:49The next warning, while CSI searched the Mercedes.
14:02Hey, this is Detective Harrison.
14:05I'm actually just following up on a hit-and-run accident, and I ran the tag, and it looked like it was registered to your mom.
14:10The good thing is that he actually required people to provide driver's licenses and to get rental insurance,
14:22things that you don't typically see in word-of-mouth type rentals.
14:26It was July 10th.
14:27The men returned the car around 2 o'clock.
14:41So based on that, I knew that they were in possession of the car within an hour or so after the homicide.
14:46All right.
14:47Bye.
14:47He quickly sent me pictures of the driver's licenses.
14:53The first one is going to be a Miles Collins, and the second is going to be a David Booker.
14:58This was a big turning point because we needed to try to match them to the two individuals who got out of the vehicle at the Texaco.
15:04These are the two dudes that rented the car in that Texaco footage.
15:11I think that's probably him.
15:13David Booker.
15:15I am running David Booker.
15:1920-year-old David Booker has prior convictions for theft by receiving stolen property.
15:25You can see he's got like a cross dagger tattoo between his eyes, which you can see in the footage.
15:31David Booker's on parole.
15:32And then this is Miles.
15:3620-year-old Miles Collins has no prior convictions in Gwinnett County.
15:40He is the father of a seven-week-old daughter.
15:43He's already wanted.
15:45Gwinnett County.
15:46Collins has an active warrant for failure to appear on prior charges.
15:50At this point, I'm going to go ahead and get the warrants for murder on David Booker,
15:55and then the fugitive unit is going to start working to locate him.
16:02A week later...
16:08Booker was arrested.
16:10He's on his way up now.
16:12The fugitive unit found Booker at an address he gave his parole officer.
16:17I was excited when I found out that David Booker was in custody.
16:20The stakes are high on this interview.
16:21There's definitely a lot of pressure riding on getting some kind of confession from him.
16:24And getting him to identify the third suspect.
16:29Hey, David, how's it going?
16:36Remember what you were doing back on July 10th?
16:39I went to a barbecue on a Saturday.
16:42Smoked, chilled with my friends.
16:45I don't know what you...
16:46What about Friday?
16:48Friday, I was at work.
16:51After work, he says his girlfriend drove him to a gas station in her car.
16:57Did you ever, like, rent cars to go drive around to wherever you need to go?
17:00I don't even have a license.
17:01I could almost see David's type of resistance and denial.
17:06But also, I know the evidence that I have to dispute anything they say.
17:12Would it help if I showed you a picture?
17:15Picture.
17:19You can see your dagger tattoo.
17:23I can't really see anything, and I know that's not me.
17:26This is you, man.
17:28You and your buddy.
17:30What buddy?
17:31This guy.
17:35I don't even remember seeing this guy at the gas station at all.
17:38David, come on now.
17:40Well, I was definitely frustrated in the interview with David.
17:42He kept denying all the evidence that I put in front of him.
17:45Even his own picture that you could see.
17:48It's his face.
17:49It's his face tattoos.
17:50He was still denying it.
17:53Where are you being charged with murder?
17:56Well, I definitely don't know nothing about a murder, but...
18:00Well, you do, because you're on video at the group trip.
18:04Well, I don't.
18:06It's not me.
18:07It was definitely frustrating that the confession was not obtained from David.
18:13But I was hoping that once I got the phone records back for David Booker and Miles Collins, I could see who they were talking to that might point me in the direction of who that third suspect would be.
18:22Two weeks into the investigation, he is in custody.
18:32The fugitive unit finds Miles Collins in Lithonia, 18 miles south of Gwinnett, and brings him in on his outstanding warrants.
18:40Based on the surveillance footage, we felt pretty confident that Miles Collins was just the driver, and I believe that the third person that had yet to be identified was actually going to be the shooter.
18:52So we were really hopeful that Miles was going to be able to tell us who that third person that we're looking for is.
18:57Miles, I need to talk to you about what happened a couple of weeks ago over there at that quick trip.
19:04So talk about that Mercedes that you and David rented a couple of days before that.
19:08I do know about it, James. I rent it, James.
19:16Miles claims that he rented the Mercedes to a friend right after he picked it up.
19:20He didn't have any contact information for Man Man, and that Man Man brought the car back to him, supposedly after the homicide.
19:36So here's my only issue with that.
19:39Here you are, out of Texaco in Atlanta, with the car, Saturday morning at about 1.30 a.m., and David was with you.
19:50I remember these half of the pictures.
19:58This is you and David?
19:59Mm-hmm.
19:59Okay.
20:00It was huge that Miles admitted that that was him and David at the Texaco.
20:05Because David Booker had already said it wasn't him, he wasn't there.
20:10If you want to go down for a murder, then you...
20:12I'm not. I didn't do nothing wrong.
20:14You didn't shoot him.
20:15I rented the car, let's see.
20:18I'm not no killer.
20:20We'll be back in a few minutes, all right?
20:23We couldn't charge Miles Collins with the murder because he admitted to being at the Texaco,
20:28but we didn't have him at the Quick Trip homicide scene.
20:32Will you stand up for me?
20:34Miles will be held in Gwinnett County Jail on his outstanding warrant.
20:39We knew we were going to have to wait for their phones to come back and map it to our crime scene
20:45and see where that phone is in relation to when the crime occurred.
20:53Four days later...
20:54The first cell tower hit of interest is going to be on the day of the homicide.
21:01The phone records for Collins and Booker are finally in.
21:05This puts Miles Collins there in the area when the Mercedes was there.
21:09And then the next time it hits, it's hitting down here where they returned the vehicle.
21:15So there's definitely enough probable cause to charge him in the murder.
21:19And then we were able to see who David and Miles were talking to prior to the homicide
21:24and then right after the homicide.
21:27Harrison looks up the number.
21:29And it was Josiah Hewley.
21:3020-year-old Josiah Hewley has no previous convictions
21:35and is the father of a one-year-old daughter.
21:38So I'll send a search warrant application over to the district attorney's office
21:41to get his location information from his phone.
21:45He's the best suspect I have right now.
21:52Seven weeks in...
21:53We got the phone records back for Josiah Hewley.
21:58At 11.24 a.m., it hits right up the street from the quick trip.
22:05And then again at 12.50, like right over there basically after the homicide.
22:09Josiah's phone records put him near the crime scene around the time of the murder.
22:14They also reveal something else.
22:16Looking at the content they were posting on social media
22:19tipped us that they may be involved in some gang activity.
22:21So it was extremely important to find Josiah
22:24because we thought he was going to be our shooter.
22:33After three weeks of searching for Josiah...
22:37The U.S. Marshals got Josiah taken into custody
22:40right as he came out of a job interview.
22:42I really needed a confession from Josiah Hewley
22:44because I wasn't able to get one from David Booker or Miles Collins.
22:48All right, Josiah.
22:49I'm Detective Harris and this is Detective Jorstad.
22:52We need to talk about what happened out there at that quick trip.
22:56I wasn't there.
22:58What you talking about?
23:03Recognize that car?
23:05At that point, I tried to get him to stop thinking about
23:11how this was going to affect him for the rest of his life
23:14and just think about the family of Bradley Coleman.
23:18You got a little girl, right?
23:19He had a little girl, too.
23:21And she's going to grow up without a dad now because of what happened to him.
23:23I think that just kind of all hit him very hard.
23:32That kind of flipped something in Josiah.
23:35At least you're alive.
23:37That family, they will never get to talk to him, see him ever again.
23:42And think about that little girl.
23:49You could definitely see the internal struggle he was having
23:52with trying to do the right thing.
23:55The way it happened,
24:25It is happening so fast.
24:32Once Josiah starts to confess,
24:34our goal is just to keep him talking.
24:36So walk me through what happened.
24:44Because if he's focused on recalling the events that took place,
24:49the less likely he is to have a moment to pause and think,
24:52okay, I've said too much.
24:53Now I need to stop talking.
24:55When I see his gun, I'm passing the seat.
25:00So when I see him get up,
25:03I try to get out of the car.
25:05So I'm thinking he's going to go for his gun.
25:09But he jumped in the car.
25:12He started hitting me, beating me up.
25:14So you're saying you shot him, but you weren't meaning to shoot him in the head?
25:32So you're saying you shot him, but you weren't meaning to shoot him in the head?
25:42I believed everything up to his self-defense claim.
25:53But I do feel like he legitimately did have some remorse for what happened.
25:57Josiah's DNA matches what was recovered from the mask at the scene.
26:05After the interview, I was able to confidently say that Josiah Hewley shot Mr. Coleman,
26:12that David Booker was the suspect that got out of the front passenger seat,
26:16and then Miles Collins was the driver of that vehicle.
26:19All three were charged with Bradley's murder.
26:22Josiah's interview was kind of the nail in the coffin.
26:24It felt great to successfully close my first homicide case,
26:31and it felt really good for me to be able to deliver that result for the family of Bradley Coleman.
26:36We were thankful.
26:38Now we were waiting to have our day in court.
26:43When we first heard about this case, it took us all aback because it was so tragic
26:48to think that someone could be doing something as harmless
26:52as putting air in their tires and they end up killed is unconscionable.
26:59My initial assessment was, what in the world am I going to do?
27:04What kind of defense can I raise?
27:06My client admitted to shooting Mr. Coleman,
27:10but Josiah had not pulled a gun until he felt that his life was in jeopardy.
27:17So I tried to argue for voluntary manslaughter.
27:20Any time you got three defendants, it's challenging to persuade the jury
27:27that everybody is just as guilty as the shooter.
27:32Jurors want to know, why did it happen?
27:36The evidence indicated they are gang members
27:38who have dedicated their lives to this kind of lifestyle.
27:42They were trying to steal a car to further their status in the gang.
27:46They came to steal, but they were prepared to kill, and that's what happened.
27:52More than a year after Bradley's shooting death,
27:56the trial of David Booker, Miles Collins, and Josiah Hewley begins.
28:01Stay ready.
28:03Thanks, Richard.
28:04Defense ready?
28:05Yes, yes, sir.
28:06The night before, I prayed because I knew that I would have to look at these three guys
28:12that had murdered my son.
28:14There was no fear, but there was anxiety.
28:17It was very difficult, very, very difficult.
28:21As the state's first witness, Bradley's mother takes the stand.
28:26Ms. Coleman's testimony was so important
28:29because you want to put a human face on this trial.
28:34He was an educator,
28:36and he educated children that transitioned out of the jail system back into society.
28:42Bradley was so much to so many people.
28:43If they had known Bradley,
28:45he would have tried to motivate them,
28:47encourage them to do good, to get a job.
28:51He would have been that type of big brother to them.
28:53That's just who he was.
28:54Day three of the trial.
29:02The state calls Miles Collins' girlfriend.
29:04Right after David Booker had been arrested,
29:07he ended up doing a search warrant at Miles' girlfriend's house.
29:11I interviewed her mother,
29:12and she indicated that her daughter got very upset after talking to Miles
29:16because Miles told her that his friend did a felony murder
29:20and they're all going to be away for a long time.
29:24Man, that was a pivotal moment in the trial.
29:27How was she going to testify?
29:29She is the mother of the child of Miles Collins.
29:32Is she going to be cooperative?
29:34Is she going to answer?
29:35How is she going to be?
29:37I'm going to talk about the statements that your mother said that you made.
29:42Okay.
29:43You understand?
29:44Yes.
29:44In particular, the statement you made was
29:46Miles was never going to see his baby again.
29:49Do you recall saying that to your mother?
29:51No, I don't.
29:53Okay.
29:53The next statement was,
29:58I was trying to get a felony murder.
30:00Objection, Your Honor.
30:02I jumped up because I couldn't believe my ears.
30:06You can't let the state speak evidence and plant a seed in the juror's mind.
30:13Objection, Your Honor.
30:14I have a motion.
30:16The jury's going to step out.
30:17It was very confusing.
30:19Things were looking kind of crazy.
30:20I am making a motion for a mistrial.
30:24It wasn't looking good.
30:25It didn't feel good.
30:27It didn't look good.
30:28I'm like, Lord, have mercy.
30:30That was a comment by the prosecutor that's now put a statement in one of these young men's mouth that one of their friends committed a felony murder.
30:46So I would ask for a mistrial.
30:48The state in front of the jury basically made the statement, Miles said his friend committed a felony murder as if it was a fact.
31:00But we don't know that that's true.
31:02The judge can say, disregard that.
31:05But that's going to be impossible for a jury to forget.
31:08I'll be back.
31:11The judge took a very long break.
31:13It was very tense in the courtroom.
31:17We didn't really know which way the judge would go.
31:20I can't unring the bell.
31:23The state's comment was so improper and prejudicial that I'm going to have to grant a mistrial for all three defendants.
31:35At that point, we didn't know what was going to happen.
31:40It sent shockwaves through the court.
31:44A lot of hushed voices, disappointment.
31:48What can we do now?
31:49A mistrial, if it's based on prosecutorial misconduct, then the defendant has the protection of double jeopardy.
31:56You cannot retry them.
31:58But if it's done unintentionally, then that just means that the jury's sent home and we start over again.
32:05And that's what happened in this case.
32:07All right, so you do great mess.
32:14Heading into the retrial,
32:16prosecutors Williams and Melvin worked to sharpen their approach.
32:19I was thankful for the first trial because I saw some hiccups in the presentation of the evidence.
32:25So in the retrial, I don't want to come stumbling out of the gate.
32:30No slip-ups, no hiccups.
32:33It had to go smoothly.
32:35Two and a half years after Bradley was killed, the retrial begins.
32:45What the evidence is going to show you is that Josiah Keeley was the shooter.
32:51That David Booker provided armed support that Miles Collins drove into the QT and away from the QT.
32:57There's no DNA evidence ultimately that's going to identify David Booker as being present at the scene of the QT.
33:03There will be nothing to show that Miles Collins was at that scene.
33:09Josiah Keeley was the easiest one to prove by far.
33:13We had his DNA.
33:14We had his confession.
33:15All right, Josiah, like I said earlier on, Detective Harrison is Detective Dorstad.
33:20The interview evidence was invaluable because he actually admitted it in his interview.
33:27He had said what I had wanted the jury to hear, that, yeah, I shot him.
33:30But defense attorney Drake presents a different take on Josiah's confession.
33:50What Josiah was saying is that it was either him or me.
33:54That was the only thing I thought, it was either him or me.
33:57And that's when he pulled his gun.
33:58But he's saying everything just happened so quickly, which I thought would support voluntary manslaughter.
34:06Because it happened just like that.
34:09What Josiah said was a boatload of BS.
34:13How can you claim self-defense when you're coming to steal another man's property?
34:18That was crazy.
34:20It was really crazy.
34:21I felt confident with Josiah Hewley.
34:31But I could definitely see it have going a different way for David Booker and Miles Collins just because there wasn't as much evidence.
34:38That's why the cell phone evidence was crucial in the case, because that is hard evidence.
34:47This is David Booker's phone information, his digital DNA.
34:52This cell data shows where he was during this crime.
34:55Look, he's right here, right at the quick trip at the time of the murder.
35:02And then we've got following the murder, him leaving and going back to where the Mercedes is ultimately dropped off.
35:13That cell phone evidence was absolutely compelling.
35:17It was the linchpin of the case.
35:19But for Miles Collins, his cell data was the most limited of the three.
35:25We don't have the same kind of information with him.
35:29So Miles' attorney cross-examined cell data expert, John Wilbanks.
35:35In fact, there is no phone record from Mr. Collins' phone ever in an area.
35:42How much is the quick trip, is there?
35:44I had no data showing you.
35:45Do you think I have anything else? Thank you very much, sir.
35:47To prove Collins' involvement, the state needs to show why Miles would have been at the scene.
35:56Establishing the gang connectivity was vital.
36:01The gang evidence provides that motive.
36:05The risk, if the defense was able to attack that gang evidence, discredit it, say it doesn't apply,
36:12then all of a sudden, it's like a Jenga puzzle.
36:16The whole case could topple.
36:30Okay, stay ready.
36:32Here we go.
36:34Okay, let's pick up Stacey's edit 103.
36:37We're just trying to show they were connected together through that gang.
36:41What's getting about this post?
36:43This was located after I made a search warrant for Mr. Booker's Instagram account.
36:48And looking on some of the social media posts, we're able to make that connection.
36:54And what's significant about this is it says 93 gangsters with a red broken heart.
36:58So right there, big flag.
37:01We're dealing with 93 gangsters.
37:02On this one, the hand sign that Mr. Booker is demonstrating right there, you'll notice that he's doing it in the nine-trade gangster hand sign.
37:11What we saw was that David Booker's, Miles Collins, were each representing nine-trade bloods.
37:17And the slider crimes is something that the nine-trade bloods do.
37:22In fact, Collins had pleaded guilty to slider crimes before, in Rockdale County, back in 2023.
37:29Based on your investigation, were warrants obtained from Miles Collins for the death of that 40 score?
37:36Yes.
37:37And that was at a QT gas station, right?
37:39Yes.
37:39The jury heard that Mr. Miles Collins had two prior slider crimes at QT gas stations.
37:48This last one is the chilling video of Mr. Booker flashing his Glock 9.
37:54But you'll also notice he's wearing the exact same sweatshirt that he was wearing when they murdered Mr. Coleman.
38:01Be honored this time to save us.
38:09After seven hours of deliberations.
38:16Ladies and gentlemen, jury has informed me that they have reached a verdict.
38:23My heart dropped.
38:25I got so nervous.
38:27I was thinking about my son.
38:32State of Georgia versus David Jared Booker in count one.
38:37Felony murder.
38:38We, the jury, find the defendant guilty.
38:42When the judge read that verdict, it was just a sign of relief.
38:47It's family over with now.
38:50But then with Mr. Collins, I wasn't 100% confident.
38:54Count one.
38:55Felony murder.
38:56We, the jury, find the defendant guilty.
39:01It's very surreal in that moment.
39:05Mr. Hughley, please stand.
39:10This is a young kid.
39:11And his whole life is on the line at this point.
39:15Count one.
39:16Felony murder.
39:17We, the jury, find the defendant guilty.
39:19And then the verdict for the gang charges was guilty on all counts for all defendants.
39:30We don't raise your hand.
39:32We don't raise your hand.
39:33Before the sentencing.
39:37Your Honor, my parents should never, ever have to bury their child.
39:43Well, we do not want another parent, child, sister to suffer at the hands of these three individuals.
39:53The fates of all three are now in the hands of the judge.
39:58Mr. Hughley, count one.
40:01Felony murder.
40:03I sentence you to life without the possibility of parole.
40:07Each of the defendants got life without possibility of parole.
40:10But then, after the judge sentences Miles Collins.
40:15Oh, God.
40:17After he murdered our son, he turned around and said to my family, I hope you're happy.
40:23And that almost set off a riot in the courtroom.
40:28Family.
40:29Family.
40:30It brought a lot of rage to the family because the guilty verdict meant everything to us.
40:37All three got exactly what they deserved.
40:40So a life for a life, that's the way I look at it.
40:43This is a life that was cut short.
40:58But thank God that he had already started building his legacy.
41:04And he won't be forgotten.
41:13Will you pass me the hungers?
41:16It's been three years and 23 days today that Bradley has been gone.
41:23And we miss him so much.
41:25We loved him so much.
41:27We're getting ready for a photo shoot.
41:29And we wanted to roll out the legacy collection, which is the collection that we created after
41:33Brad's passing.
41:34That's one of the things that's helping us to be able to go on, is continuing his legacy.
41:39He created this brand so that he can be able to provide for his daughter and also help with
41:44his student-athletes.
41:46He would use the proceeds from posture.
41:48This was his pride and joy.
41:50It was his baby.
41:52Let's get the clothes out over here.
41:55Bradley did so much in his 29 years than most people do in a lifetime.
42:00Okay, let's start lining up.
42:03He was so kind and so loving.
42:06You got everybody?
42:09He's still speaking to us.
42:12His presence is forever with us, leading us, guiding us, directing us.
