00:00Let's recap a bit before we look into the future, because this is not the only storm we've had.
00:05This is at least, what, the third in the last two weeks that we've seen.
00:09So looking back at the last 24 hours, that second storm in the mix was really moving into Arizona, into New Mexico.
00:17That's the rain totals you see here, even close to half an inch in Albuquerque, Phoenix, only a tenth of an inch.
00:22However, some of the rainfall was more than 24 hours ago, but still yesterday led to a lot of flash flooding.
00:27We had at least two water rescues in the Phoenix area.
00:30We had hail, severe thunderstorms.
00:32It was a mess yesterday.
00:34And Vegas saw some impacts there as well that you're seeing on the right-hand side of your screen.
00:38But now as we look towards California, today is the focus.
00:42L.A., now up to six one-hundredths of an inch of rain.
00:47We're starting to see it moving through the city.
00:48Still no measurable rainfall in San Diego, but the evening is young, especially Pacific time.
00:55So let's look at radar over the last couple of hours here, how things have been progressing.
00:59We are seeing that snow into the Sierra, but the rain moving into L.A.
01:03and still off the coast of San Diego.
01:04But the next couple hours, it'll start to move in there as well.
01:08So this storm started yesterday in Northern California.
01:11It's moved south, similar to the setup of some of our other recent storms.
01:16We're going to see the core of the storm system, the area of low pressure, move inland as we go throughout tomorrow.
01:21And then we start to get more problems into Arizona and New Mexico, once again, then eventually into Texas, just like Jeff was mentioning.
01:27Let's take a look at future radar, though, and what this means for the southwest, especially Southern California.
01:32So taking a look, starting to play things out here, because the core of our storm system is going to be moving through Southern California,
01:38we get a couple rounds of some heavy downpours.
01:41It's not super widespread, at least along the coast, somewhere like L.A., San Diego.
01:46We're talking half an inch to an inch overall into the foothills, especially some localized higher amounts are certainly possible.
01:53So across the board, flash flooding is a concern here, but especially burn scar areas.
01:58We've been talking about those a lot recently.
02:00Debris flows are they're more susceptible to debris flows in those areas.
02:04So that's where you especially want to keep in mind the negative impacts we can see from this rainfall on the positive side.
02:09I mean, there are drought conditions that this is going to help with.
02:12Overall, we take a look as it continues to move further inland.
02:16Then we get issues into Vegas again, into Arizona.
02:20We'll see some heavy rainfall moving through Phoenix and then even some snow into Colorado as we go throughout the weekend before this really moves into Texas, like Jeff was talking about.
02:30Here's the snowfall for the Sierra.
02:31Past level, it's only a couple inches.
02:33We're seeing less than a foot overall, but still, we're accumulating some.
02:37Could create some slick conditions out there.
02:38Also, could lead to some ski resorts opening up somewhere like Mammoth Mountain.
02:43Could see some gustier winds as well.
02:45So there's pros and cons to all of this.
02:47Just make sure you're staying weather aware and staying safe on the roads.
