00:00The European Union is demanding a seat at the table after U.S. media shed light on President Donald Trump's new plan to end the war in Ukraine.
00:11A collision between two trains in the southern Czech Republic left five people seriously injured and dozens with minor injuries.
00:19At least 33 people have been killed in Israeli strikes on Gaza in some of the deadliest attacks since the U.S. brookered ceasefire came into force in October.
00:30The European Union is pushing back against a 28-point plan approved by U.S. President Donald Trump early on Thursday to end the war in Ukraine.
00:40The plan, first reported by U.S. media outlet Axios, is set to include terms that would be highly disadvantageous for Ukraine, such as the complete surrender of the eastern Donbass region.
00:53The plan has yet to be presented to the Russian and Ukrainian sides and has reportedly not involved Europe in its formulation.
01:00The EU's foreign policy chief, Kaya Callas, speaking as she hosted European foreign ministers for a summit in Brussels, denounced the idea, claiming that a just agreement must be reached.
01:11What we, as Europeans, have always supported is a long-lasting and just peace, and we welcome any efforts to achieve that.
01:23Of course, for any plan to work, it needs Ukrainians and Europeans on board, so this is very clear.
01:30Also, we have to understand that in this war there is one aggressor and one victim, so we haven't heard of any concessions on the Russian side.
01:40The sentiment was echoed by the French top diplomat.
01:45Discussions should start with a ceasefire on the contact line that allow for negotiation on the question of territories, on the question of security guarantees.
01:55We have said that, the U.S. have said that, President Trump has said that, and Ukrainians are ready for this.
02:02The only obstacle to such ordered discussions so far is Vladimir Putin.
02:08Budapest, however, who has always endorsed a highly critical view of Ukraine, remained the outlier.
02:14So, if Brussels and the leadership here in Brussels was normal, then they have immediately should have stopped the payments to Ukraine,
02:24and they immediately should have demanded for a financial clearance.
02:30Are we crazy? So, there's a war mafia, a corrupt system working in Ukraine?
02:37The meeting in Brussels is aimed at exploring ways to further support Ukraine amid its ongoing war with Russia.
02:43Foreign ministers held discussions on the European Commission's plan to support Kyiv's military with €135 billion to cover its needs for 2026 and 2027.
02:58Two trains collided in the southern Czech Republic, leaving five people seriously injured and dozens with minor injuries.
03:06Czech railways confirmed the collision involved two of its trains during morning rush hour,
03:11when services typically carry commuters heading to work.
03:16Seven rescue crews and a helicopter responded to the accident scene.
03:20An investigation into the cause of the crashes underway, however, local media reported that one driver may
03:50have been in the same way, but were unable to stop in time.
03:54The railway line now remains closed pending completion of the investigation and clean-up efforts.
04:02Israeli strikes in Gaza's southern city of Khan Yunis early on Thursday killed five people,
04:08raising the death toll from airstrikes in the territory since the previous evening to 33.
04:13The strikes, according to local health officials, have been some of the deadliest since 10 October,
04:19when a U.S.-brokered ceasefire came into force.
04:23Local authorities have reported more than 300 deaths since it began.
04:27Officials at Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis said they received the bodies of 17 people in total,
04:34including five women and five children,
04:37following four Israeli airstrikes targeting tents sheltering displaced people.
04:42In Gaza City, two airstrikes on a building killed 16 people, including seven children and three women, local officials said.
04:53The renewed escalation came after Israel said its soldiers had come under fire in Khan Yunis on Wednesday.
05:01Israel said no soldiers were killed, but they responded with strikes.
05:06Hamas condemned the strikes, calling them a shocking massacre,
05:09and denied firing against Israeli troops.
05:18A culture of fear is taking hold in Chicago,
05:22with many too scared to leave their homes over immigration raids,
05:26where ICE officials emerge from unmarked vehicles
05:29to confront and detain undocumented migrants.
05:32In social media posts and interviews, many have expressed shock at the agent's use of force.
05:39Get off of me!
05:40Get off of me!
05:42My brother, obviously, he didn't want to get caught, so,
05:46because he was illegal.
05:48So, he started running.
05:50That's when multiple came out of the cars, and they tackled them to the ground,
05:54and that's where I chased behind them.
05:56For nearly two months, federal agents have been carrying out the surprise raids in Chicago
06:03in pursuit of the Trump administration's immigration agenda.
06:07In addition to people who were in the country illegally,
06:11many U.S. citizens have also been swept up in the crackdown.
06:14It was also, like, very hurtful seeing other people getting caught in the crossfire, you know,
06:24because they didn't have nothing to do with it, and all of them have citizenship.
06:28Being a Mexican-American, I feel like a whole bunch of weight on my shoulders of
06:35what can we do to help each other.
06:41Since it began in early September, Operation Midway Blitz has resulted in more than 3,300
06:48arrests, according to attorneys for detainees.
06:58The legendary Martha Graham Dance Company, America's greatest and longest-running contemporary
07:04dance company, is at the Athens Concert Hall, performing the anniversary production The First
07:10and the Future, to celebrate 100 years since its founding.
07:15Martha Graham is universally regarded as the founder of contemporary dance,
07:20and created an entirely new dance technique known as the Graham Technique,
07:24characterized by dramatic, intense, and angular movements.
07:28Graham's work remains a reference point for generations of dancers and choreographers around the world.
07:35Jeanette Elber has been the artistic director of the group since 2005.
07:38She's been the company's lead dancer in the past, and has worked closely with Martha Graham herself.
07:45Martha Graham has a reputation of being a great inventor in modern dance,
07:52because she was the first choreographer to put human beings on stage.
07:56She was breaking away from a style of dance that was escapist, imaginary, fantasy, swans, flowers, kings and queens,
08:04and really showing us the human condition on stage.
08:10So that's the essence of Martha Graham's discoveries, finding a way of moving.
08:16Martha Graham's goals were to, in her ballets, to really get down to the essences of human expression.
08:24So these essences, they travel through time.
08:29They're recognizable to today's generations, just as they were to the generations 100 years ago when Martha was creating these works.
08:38The first and the future was especially created in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the group's founding in New York in 1926.
08:46It is a dialogue between iconic works by Martha Graham, such as Chronicle and Arendt into the Maze,
08:53as well as bold new productions such as Cave by Hofe Schechter.
08:59The six performances at the Athens Concert Hall are running from the 20th to 23rd of November.
09:04Today's programs that we put together for our audiences are not only the Martha Graham classics,
09:11but new works from some of today's top, top choreographers.
09:16And we find there's a real conversation between the classics and the works created today
09:21because they all speak to the human condition, and these works have something to say to each other.
