00:00We're having a fall gathering with friends and family.
00:02Go.
00:04It is nice having everybody together
00:06to catch up, eat food, and just hang out.
00:09Do you know if Anna's showing up?
00:11We still haven't heard from her.
00:12Anna has not wanted to do anything with the family.
00:15I haven't heard nothing from her.
00:17So.
00:20Tonight, I am having dinner with Alex and Emma.
00:23What's the deal?
00:24Why haven't you been around us and the family?
00:26Y'all have a phone.
00:27Y'all can text me.
00:27Y'all can talk to me.
00:29We're mad at you for the things you haven't been doing.
00:32To end this conversation, I'll come around.
00:35Trying to end the conversation.
00:36Because when we're going in circles as a family,
00:38it doesn't end good.
00:39Why is, like, the problem between you, mom, and dad
00:40affecting all of us?
00:44Today, we are going to show Elizabeth and Bryce
00:47the plot of land that we purchased in our neighborhood.
00:50You and Bryce can build on and be close
00:54to both sets of grandparents.
00:56The biggest advantage of taking the land
00:58is the fact that we would be saving money.
01:00Our cons are pretty much, we're simply staying
01:03in the same neighborhood as our parents.
01:06Is this lot something that you guys would want to build on
01:09and live for the next 15, 20 years?
01:12If y'all would want to be in the same neighborhood
01:26with your mom and dad, Bryce, and Amber and I,
01:29it would be convenient for you guys and for Layton.
01:33My parents surprised us with purchasing a lot of land
01:37in the same neighborhood as both of our parents for the possibility
01:41of Bryce and I to build our home on it.
01:44Even though Bryce and I are desperate to be in our own home,
01:48we don't necessarily imagine it being in the same neighborhood
01:52as both of our parents.
01:53Or if you guys don't want to do that,
01:55then it's something that dad and I can hold on to for a couple of years
01:58and turn around and sell.
02:01Bryce and Elizabeth contemplating the decision
02:03on accepting the gift is...
02:06It's understandable.
02:07Understandable.
02:08My biggest thing is I wanted to stay here for schools.
02:10That's why we moved here for y'all's schools.
02:13Even though I am grateful for this piece of property
02:16that they wanted to give to us,
02:18I'm also a little bit on the downside
02:20to being in the same neighborhood.
02:22It's literally, we can walk to their house from here.
02:26It's got everything I want for Layton.
02:28School, family, safety.
02:30So this is ultimately where we have to simply just think
02:33about Layton when it comes to a decision like this.
02:36You know, my goal is to have her in a home
02:37by her second birthday.
02:39We know that this neighborhood is safe
02:40and it would be a great place for Layton to be raised.
02:43I mean, I have everything off the list.
02:45So it's a done deal.
02:51I'm going insane, yeah.
02:53It was a tough decision, but ultimately,
02:57I think we made the right one.
03:00I appreciate it.
03:03I get the hug out or the backslash.
03:06Now that we have accepted this piece of land,
03:09now it's pretty much meeting with the builder,
03:11figuring out what kind of house plan we want,
03:13getting a good idea of how much that plan would cost,
03:15and making sure that we're financially ready for this,
03:18and ultimately, just being happy with all of our decisions.
03:22Well, at least we got a short drive home.
03:34Hey, Em.
03:35Yes?
03:36Can you come here?
03:39I'm just packing up some last minute things for Ohio.
03:42Yeah?
03:43You excited?
03:43Yeah, I'm looking forward to it.
03:44I always have a fun time up there.
03:47So right now, I am packing up for a trip to Ohio,
03:49and I'm super excited to see Allie.
03:52Allie's parents are always surprised
03:54that I could pack this much stuff just to carry on.
03:57Is this all?
03:58How many days are you staying?
03:59Four.
04:00Oh, OK.
04:00Just a T-shirt for each day.
04:01I'm there, two pairs of pants,
04:03deodorant, underwear, I'm good.
04:04For a four-day trip, I pack four pairs of underwear
04:07just to be safe.
04:10I mean, I feel like that's what most people do, though,
04:11four pairs, or am I just an overpacker?
04:14If I was going on a trip for four days,
04:19underwear amount would have to be five, five, or six.
04:23Four to five pairs of underwear.
04:26Underwear has two sides.
04:27You only need two.
04:28I would pack probably four or five pairs of underwear.
04:32What if you fart and you accidentally
04:34that's one underwear down?
04:35It soaks through your pants.
04:37I haven't grabbed my pants in ages.
04:40My dad did it, like, three weeks ago.
04:45Allie excited?
04:46Yeah, she's excited to have me up there for a few days.
04:48I think we're going to go on a hay ride, go out to lunch,
04:51and, of course, the main reason I'm going to help out
04:54their dad with harvesting crops this year.
04:56Oh.
04:57So I've been to Allie's farm a few times,
04:59but this will be my first time helping out with the harvest.
05:02I've been interested in farming ever since I was a little kid.
05:04I just have a lot of respect for farmers
05:06because they put food on our tables.
05:08So I think it's cool that I'll have a girlfriend
05:10who's also into farming.
05:12Are you going to drive one of their, do they have tractors?
05:14I'm probably just going to ride with Allie.
05:16No, I don't trust myself on the big tractor right now,
05:18so I'll let them teach me.
05:19Maybe next year I'll drive.
05:20Oh, gosh.
05:22Alex, I mean, the kid has always, always loved tractors
05:27and farming, and it's really very fitting
05:30that this is how this has all worked out for Alex.
05:33I'll be helping them for a few days with harvesting.
05:35That's going to be fun.
05:37Yeah.
05:37It's kind of a long process, but I'm looking forward
05:40to seeing it in person for the first time.
05:42Yeah.
05:43Would you possibly, like, one day move up there with Allie?
05:46We've had this talk a few times,
05:48and she seems pretty set in stone on staying up there, so.
05:51You'll leave all of us?
05:53I'll still come and visit, obviously,
05:54but her parents' rule is that we have to be married
05:56before we can move in together, so.
05:58So that's quite a long ways out.
06:01Out of Alex and Allie, Liz and Bryce,
06:03and Jonah and Ashley, the couple that will be engaged first
06:08will be Liz and Bryce.
06:09They got a jump start.
06:11Yeah, that's true.
06:12Yeah, but if Alex goes before me there,
06:15it's going to be a severe problem,
06:16and Ashley's going to be really pissed.
06:18I mean, I don't disagree with that.
06:20I agree.
06:21I at least want to get through college work, though,
06:24at college before I start moving up there.
06:27We'll see.
06:30I can't believe it.
06:32Good Lord.
06:45It's always busy for us, and it's almost Halloween,
06:48and Alex is going to be heading up to Ohio.
06:51But before that, the family is going
06:53to be coming together to celebrate Poppy's heavenly birthday.
06:58Poppy is my father, and he passed away eight months ago.
07:01We have decided to do something special
07:03to celebrate his first heavenly birthday.
07:06Yeah, don't say stop.
07:08After Poppy passed away, we all decided
07:10that it would be a great way to remember Poppy
07:12by planting a tree in the backyard.
07:14Come on, come on.
07:15There you go.
07:16A little bit more.
07:17Please, Lord, come on, Poppy.
07:18Come on, Poppy.
07:18It's great.
07:20Unfortunately, that is pretty much the last time we
07:22have all seen Anna.
07:24She has not been over to the house since that day.
07:27That looks pretty cool.
07:28Yeah.
07:29We have picked out a rock, and we decided
07:32to etch out Poppy's name on this rock
07:35to kind of place at the tree as a marker.
07:39Are we ready to start taking the thing over?
07:42It's little, but it's heavy.
07:43Yeah.
07:44Yeah.
07:45It's very dwarf.
07:46This rock weighs 150 pounds.
07:48It's not, like, super heavy, but it's like picking us up.
07:51Everybody thinks we weigh 60, 70 pounds.
07:53No, I'm 140 pounds, 145 right now.
07:57God.
07:58We're very small, compact, very dense,
07:59and we feel like we weigh 200.
08:01Liz, I wouldn't move out of the way.
08:03I'm here to guide Dad.
08:05Well, the worst it could do is land in the pool
08:07and be in the bottom of the pool forever.
08:08Oh, .
08:10Because nobody's getting this off the bottom of the pool.
08:11Why don't you go the other way?
08:13Yeah.
08:14What about if we get on the end and push?
08:17Because you're, I don't want you to break the steps.
08:19I don't want to break the toe.
08:20Those steps aren't going to break.
08:22This is the fun part.
08:25Oh, God.
08:25Should that hand truck handle would have flown up
08:28and hit me in the chin, Poppy would have heard some language
08:32today that he would not have approved of.
08:36We did it.
08:40All right, Emma, you take it down the hill.
08:43Oh, my gosh.
08:44I let her go that way, where it's not so steep.
08:46I was going out there, and I'm like,
08:48I'm not doing all this work.
08:49So I told Emma, hey, come over here,
08:51take the rock down the hill.
08:52I would try to go slow.
08:54I would try to go slow.
08:56So who thought of this idea?
09:00Why are we, like, crab walking?
09:02Squat legs!
09:04I told you, you don't have to push it.
09:06I'm not pushing it.
09:07I think the trolley was actually pulling Emma.
09:09Yeah.
09:10It was pulling me.
09:12It's not a trolley, it's a hand truck.
09:14It's a hand truck, sorry.
09:15The hand truck was pulling Emma.
09:17I just put it right outside the edge right there.
09:18Yeah, that's what, right, like, right there.
09:21Yeah, right here.
09:21Now you just got to spin it around.
09:22Spin it around.
09:23Somebody help me.
09:25To remember Poppy on his first heavenly birthday,
09:28it's not a sad time.
09:30I think, too, it's a time that it allows for everyone
09:34to really celebrate and devote time to talk about him,
09:38especially in that first few years of their passing,
09:42is part of, you know, the healing process.
09:45Poppy was always someone, too, that helped others
09:49and that taught his family to always be there for your family.
09:53I definitely think there are times like this where my dad
09:56does miss having me, Jonah, Anna, Alex, and Emma all together.
10:01But I think my dad is learning that this is nothing
10:04that they can force on Anna.
10:06It's going to take her to want to make the change.
10:08We all say happy birthday, Poppy.
10:10Happy birthday, Poppy.
10:11And I'm sure any holidays, birthdays, any big celebrations
10:15is when he'll think about it.
10:17But at the end of the day, it's her decision.
10:19I made it to Ohio, and I cannot wait to see Allie.
10:41Hi.
10:43Hello.
10:46It's nice to see you again.
10:47It's good to see you.
10:49How was your flight?
10:50It was good.
10:50It was really short, as usual.
10:51Oh, that's good.
10:52Yeah.
10:53Do you want to come inside, and we could just stuff away?
10:56Yeah.
10:56And get the weekend started?
11:01Tomorrow is the first day of me helping out the harvest.
11:03Part of me is a little bit nervous,
11:05so I'm going to see if I have any farmer potential.
11:10No, stay, dog, stay.
11:19There's no fluctuating corn.
11:20No hair we take.
11:21There's a big white corn outside your door.
11:25Yeah.
11:26So I'm visiting Allie and her family on the farm,
11:28and today's the first day of me helping out with harvest.
11:31Let's go shell some corn.
11:32There's a big white corn outside your door.
11:34I have helped with the farming in the past, but it's been like a lot of smaller jobs like running to get parts for like the
11:42Tractors like haven't really helped on like this big of a scale like the harvest
11:46Ally's family grows corn and soybeans and today we're going to be harvesting some corn
11:52Let's do this. You guys good? Yep. Okay. So long as she knows what she's doing. I hope so
11:58So as we were walking up to the tractors, they were pretty big. I mean like I'm used to my dad's small lawn doors
12:04You ready? Yep. I'm not. Alex seemed really confident with the tractors
12:28So that made me feel confident about the whole day. All right, start her up. Ready? Yep
12:34Tell me when
12:38We're ready
12:41I'm Ali's father and we're out here harvesting corn today. The way we do it is I drive the combine and
12:49Ali drives the tractor and a grain cart that follows alongside so we can unload as we are harvesting
12:56This is so cool. It's not like first time seeing this like what I've seen like haven't touched any of the floor pedals
13:01That's that's good in the grain cart. We don't have any
13:06Pedal extenders or anything. It's all hand controls. It's all on the iPad and stuff
13:11So I want to use my foot or anything when I first did it. It was nerve-wracking and it still is nerve-wracking
13:17Even though I've been doing it like two years now
13:20And I get scared to hauling a little trailer behind my truck. I can only imagine what it is like on that I
13:25I would say it'll take him like another year to learn for him to do it all by himself
13:31Oh
13:32He's ready to unload
13:33All right
13:35Show me what to do
13:37This part you have to concentrate
13:40Because you don't want to go too fast or too slow. Yeah, exactly. That's my fear
13:45So Ali needs to get this part right like she needs to be perfectly aligned with Adam and his combine because if she's too close or too far from the combine
13:53The corn will spill and spill into the field and that could be an expensive error because once that core has spilled it can't be used anymore
14:03It sure you wind up
14:05Oh, it's bumpy sometimes. Oh
14:09So yeah, this is like the high-pressure part of like what we're doing
14:12Get a little bit closer to me
14:15Get a little closer to him
14:18Although I pressure to anything because you know what you're doing talking about shut
14:23Allie did the job perfectly no corn was spilled and everything came out good
14:35I did have a few moments of like wow my girlfriend can really do this looks like we're about done now
14:40Okay, you guys go put that on the skin horse
14:44Got it
14:45When the cart gets full Ali unloads into the semis and then they take the corn to
14:52The the next place where they either export it or it gets sold for feed
15:00Coming from a family of all little people like all of us proved that we can basically do anything an average nice person can
15:05So it was really cool seeing Ali operate the heavy machinery on her farm like all the rest of her farm workers can
15:15I definitely feel like I learned a lot today in the great car with Ali
15:19She made it all look pretty easy. I think she's doing pretty good
15:22I mean, I guess there is something pretty attractive about a woman who knows how to operate heavy machinery
15:27All right, good deal. How'd that go good good didn't spill anything that's key didn't spill nothing all right good job
15:36So after a full day of harvesting today
15:38I think I would definitely consider this as like maybe my future job because I mean I would not mind working for Ali's dad
15:43Yeah, I think we'll go pretty well with some more teaching. We would like it. We would like to help
15:50You made it look easy. Okay, good
16:05So Halloween is almost here and we decided to do a cute little photo shoot with Leighton since Halloween
16:22Will be her last first holiday since Leighton was born on November 3rd
16:27so what better way to do it than sticking her in a pumpkin and hope she smiles I
16:33Put all the blame on this idea on lolly lolly wanted to stick late in a pumpkin after seeing some pictures
16:40Other things that we've done for Leighton's first holidays bapa and lolly brought some snow to the front yard for Leighton's first Christmas
16:48We attempted a Valentine's Day craft with her foot
16:57Okay, that works
16:59Daddy-o dressed up like a bunny for Easter
17:02Let's see if she'll reach out at you
17:04So we had a lot of good first holidays for ladybug
17:08It was fun
17:09Let's strip her out of her onesie
17:11I know
17:13So do I just need a light, just light leaves?
17:15In her diaper
17:17Yeah
17:18I'll come help you
17:20Hey
17:22Since Leighton has been to daycare she has gotten quite sick a couple of times already
17:27She's battled a couple of ear infections and we battled some respiratory infections
17:31So me being a stay-at-home mom is definitely still on the table because we definitely don't want Leighton sick all the time
17:38Because it does take a damper on her personality
17:41We we don't want that we want the happy little ladybug that we have pretty much
17:46Try to stick her legs through the hole
17:48All right, girl
17:49Make it
17:55You might help her get her feet through
18:01Take her patsy out
18:02Leighton
18:05Oh, this is so sad
18:08Leighton
18:15We have never put our kids in a pumpkin
18:17I so wish I would have
18:20Especially Elizabeth like she would have been so damn cute
18:23Alex I think would have been okay
18:24No
18:25I was too old for that
18:27Onan and Emma were definitely not babies when we adopted them
18:30They were four and a half and five and a half
18:32They definitely would not have fit in a pumpkin
18:34Jonah would have been
18:36He'd have thrown up in the pumpkin
18:37Yeah, he did not like any of that
18:39I don't think I'd ever want to
18:42Sit naked in a pumpkin
18:46All right, we're done
18:47Good girl
18:50So not like it
18:51Nope
18:51Do you so not like it
18:54That was a fail
18:56Give her the patsy
18:57I definitely feel like if she was feeling good
19:01I feel like she would have liked it
19:03She would have probably felt it
19:04Maybe try to put her mouth
19:05I don't know
19:05I really thought she would have been the kid to try to like
19:07Bite the pumpkin
19:08But since she's not really feeling the best
19:11She
19:12Wanted mom and dad
19:13That's up
19:14He hailed at mom and dad
19:16Leighton, you want to look at your photos?
19:19The pictures didn't turn out the best
19:23You're too nice
19:24They were awful, sad, melt your heart
19:28She's probably even going to laugh at her own pictures
19:32No, we're definitely going to do a first birthday party
19:35Yeah
19:35Do your family, my family
19:37Yes, you're turning one
19:40Can you hear me again?
19:42You can try
19:43She's just not having
19:44I gotta figure out what's wrong
19:46Come here, girl
19:47It flew by for late and to be already one years old
19:51I mean, like everybody says
19:53When you have a kid
19:54They grow up so quick
19:55Time flies
19:56It really does
19:57Because we'll look at pictures
19:58And we're like, wow
20:00Like the baby pictures
20:01Where the pacifier is bigger than her face
20:02Or she's smaller than the stroller
20:05And now we're about to start walking
20:06And we're trying to form words
20:08And it's nuts
20:11No, I'm sorry
20:13That pump can just make you so unhappy, girl
20:21Oh, that's good
20:25So after a long day of work with Harvest today
20:27Everybody on the farm crew is having dinner together tonight
20:31But I have a complaint to make
20:34Do you have a complaint?
20:35Whoever parked the truck did not do a very good job
20:40So is our download in it?
20:41Not hard, but
20:44Challenging
20:44Yeah
20:45We have three daughters
20:47Emma's our oldest daughter
20:48She's 21
20:49Allie's 18 and a senior in high school
20:51And Megan is 15
20:53And I'm really proud of our girls for knowing the agriculture
20:56And being able to run the equipment
20:58And showing their friends and boyfriends how to do it
21:01Yeah
21:02So Allie wouldn't let you drive?
21:05I guess not since it's my first time
21:08Emma used to drive till Allie got to do it
21:10No
21:11I don't think she's let you back in, has she?
21:13No
21:14I'm just taking over
21:15I'm really proud watching Allie
21:17Because I did that a few years ago
21:19So watching her take over
21:20And obviously she's a little person
21:21So she's really good at adapting to her surroundings
21:24Like I don't have to help her really anymore with anything
21:27She's good to do everything on her own
21:30And all that
21:31It makes me a proud sister moment
21:33For sure
21:34What did you get to do today, Alex?
21:36I just rode along with Allie
21:38As she like taught me some of the features of the tracker
21:41And how to do the auger on the green card
21:44Do you like it?
21:44Mm-hmm
21:46I really enjoyed it
21:48When we first heard that Allie was gonna have dwarfism
21:51It was scary
21:52We didn't know what to expect and what to do
21:54And we didn't know anybody
21:56Come to find out there was about eight babies born in the Cincinnati area
21:59The year Allie was born that also had achondroplasia
22:02It was important for us for Allie to know other little people
22:06And have that support
22:08But then we kept hearing about national conference
22:10And how amazing that was
22:11So we flew to Spokane
22:13And Adam was sitting in the lobby talking to Trent
22:16And then Amber came in and she took Allie
22:20And took him down and introduced her to Alex and Emma
22:23That was about the last time we saw her all week
22:25She said that's the one week a year she feels normal
22:29Mm-hmm
22:30Yeah
22:32I'm gonna take over here soon
22:34My surgery
22:34Yeah from your surgery I'm gonna have to take over
22:36In a few weeks Allie will be having leg surgery
22:38To kind of help straighten her legs out
22:40So we were coming down to Atlanta to have that done
22:43Leg surgery for individuals with achondroplasia is simply to correct the bowing in the lower leg
22:52Allie's family decided to do her leg surgery in Georgia because they met with the surgeon that we use
22:59And they were very impressed and I think felt very confident and comfortable with him
23:05So Allie's grown up in a family of all average height people
23:08Mm-hmm
23:09And you've grown up in a family of all little people so thinking of your house like you guys have the accommodations
23:15Like is it harder for you to come up here because
23:17No I mean
23:17We don't we've got the stools but we don't have things lowered
23:20Yeah you have the stools and that makes it just as easy
23:22I mean just extra step but I mean so it's not any more challenging being here than it is at my house
23:26Yeah
23:28We've always tried to make accommodations but you have to be able to function out in society also
23:32Yeah, we have to start to learn just to adapt to the society that's not made for us
23:36That's right
23:36Yeah
23:36That's right
23:37I figured
23:38I've learned some ways to adapt and to use my surroundings
23:43Correct
23:44You know for your kids you always want to try and make life better for them and easier
23:48But also don't make it too easy because she will have to go out into
23:52The world that's not made for her size
23:54So she needs to learn at home how to adapt and figure things out
23:59She's really grown to advocate for herself and tell us what she needs
24:03I just need Allie or Jeremy to teach me how to use the auger on the green card
24:06That's pretty much it
24:06Okay
24:08Everybody spills so if you do you've just joined a really not good club of people
24:12Because it happens to everybody
24:14Seems like about every field we have to do it
24:16I love watching Allie and Alex get to know each other
24:19It's just been really awesome to watch them
24:22It's been fun
24:23Yeah have their relationship and
24:24And see it blossom and a lot of times farms are passed down generation and generation
24:30You know your kids get into it Allie loves this so much and Alex
24:34Gosh that'd be our dream come true if they could
24:37Keep this going
24:38Right
24:38Just sitting out there driving back and forth
24:40That's all you do all day
24:41Just drive back and forth in a tractor
24:42That's right
24:43Or a combine
24:43It's not that hard
24:45Anyone can do it
24:46Anybody can do it
24:47I did it
24:48Honestly I think tonight is
24:51Like I would say like a little trial run on what our lives could be like
24:54In a few years
24:54Like if I do commit to the farm like this is what it could look like
24:58And it's very exciting
24:59I'm okay with that
25:00Maybe I can major in farming and a minor in broadcasting
25:03You know that I can do a little bit of both
25:04You can do that
25:05I would like to enjoy the meeting
25:08Very good
25:09Very nice
25:09Yay
25:10Facial
25:24Are you going to go help me pick up sticks
25:25Yes
25:26Today I am doing some cleanup down at the pavilion
25:30I need to burn this pile of sticks before it gets too big
25:36And then I still got that whole side over there that needs to
25:40God
25:42It's cold mama
25:44Yeah
25:46We couldn't have done this last week
25:48Since it was cold it's the perfect time to burn some branches
25:51And have some alone time
25:54There we go
25:56We're cooking with grease now
25:58So have you talked to Emma and Alex about their talk with Anna?
26:05Not happy Alex was not happy they were quite stressed
26:11Hey
26:11Hey
26:12Hi
26:13Alex and Emma reached out to Anna to meet and have dinner
26:17Since you missed Emma's graduation I guess you've been real busy
26:21I am very sorry about that
26:24There was no communication with the family and I know I could have just
26:28You could have been the one to reach out to us
26:30It's always looked out I'm the bad person I'm the bad person
26:35She made the decision to not attend the graduation
26:39And all Emma and Alex were asking for is just an apology
26:43Just say you're sorry
26:45Oh she never did say sorry?
26:46I mean I think she said she's sorry
26:49But it was you know followed up with but
26:52I don't want family drama blah blah blah
26:55I apologized to Alex and Emma about missing their graduation
26:59And I feel like they accepted it but I wish all of them
27:04Understood that like me pulling back from family events
27:07Honestly it's mom and dad
27:10I didn't feel welcome being around them
27:12Because we're approaching the holidays we're in the holiday season
27:18I mean obviously this year we're not even like
27:20Our Christmas card is not going to be our whole family because of this
27:25I have not seen anybody since that dinner with Alex and Emma
27:29It definitely makes me sad because I want to see like my siblings
27:32I want to hang out with my siblings
27:35But I don't want to come to mom and dad's house if I am not welcomed by them
27:39You know Anna missed obviously Poppy's heavenly birthday
27:44And she missed the fall fest and next is Layton's first birthday and and Thanksgiving
27:48It's incredibly sad
27:50I think you and I should try once more
27:54And we'll meet at a neutral ground like a coffee shop
27:58Not her living room
27:59Not her living room not our house
28:01And
28:05I mean come to an agreement with Anna to see if she'll come around
28:12I would like for her to
28:14I think it's important for Amber and I to try once again to have a sit down conversation with Anna
28:18As parents we really would like to resolve this
28:22On the basis that she's actually going to
28:26Not just show up and sit there
28:27And sit in the chair she's going to participate she's going to conversate
28:32Everybody makes mistakes
28:34But when you don't take ownership for yourself what you have done
28:40It's truly impossible to move forward
28:44Anna needs to figure out how Anna
28:48Is going to move forward with her family
29:03Are you ready?
29:04Yeah I'm ready
29:05Allie and I decided to take a break from the farm
29:07So we decided to visit a little pumpkin patch
29:09And later tonight I'm taking her out to dinner
29:12Oh look at that little mini truck over there
29:15Oh yeah
29:15Oh I think it's for sale too
29:17No we don't need it at our house
29:19Since both of us still live with our parents
29:21And it's kind of hard for us to find some alone time
29:23So whenever we can get it we always take it
29:26For sure
29:27I should have gotten a
29:30Stroll
29:32I'll get you one
29:35When Alex got the straw for me it was like it was cute because he's he's a good person and he
29:42holds me out with stuff
29:44I would say that he's a good man
29:45And I enjoy having them
29:48Oh here do you want to get a picture at the Browns farm side?
29:51Oh yes
29:53Something I love about Allie is just I love her personality
29:56She is really caring and like always checks up on me
29:59She's just a great person overall and she's beautiful
30:01I like this area a lot and I would not mind moving up here
30:05I think you should
30:06You seem pretty dead set on staying here so I don't think I have much choice
30:09I'm really excited about my future with Allie and like my ideal plan is that once I'm through with college
30:16I think that's when I'll start looking at moving up there with her
30:18I feel like my family that I've talked to like everybody's saying like Georgia has a
30:22Really good broadcasting program since that's what I want to go into
30:25Oh yeah
30:26But then again they've also said broadcasting is also a thing I can do from like virtually at home
30:29So yeah, I could be here and still farm and still do like broadcasting stuff too like on the side
30:34Yeah, Alex loves the farm life
30:37If you asked me now, I think both of us
30:39We would say Alex would be the first one to really commit to relocating and moving to Ohio
30:44And I have no problem with that
30:45There's a wonderful family out there that has accepted Alex
30:47I'm gonna stay at my college for right now just at least get my core classes done
30:51But maybe once I get those finished up, I may consider transferring
30:55Speaking of college, I need to find where I'm going
30:57Since I'm almost
31:00Finished with high school, I will go to like a local college to do ag business
31:05Since Alex is doing online college, I might do that as well
31:09You ever do your classes like I am?
31:10Now you'll have a lot more free time
31:12I'll find free time to come visit you
31:14I'll always find free time
31:16Yeah, same for you
31:17Yay
31:18Do you want to go look around now?
31:20Yes
31:21Just watch your step though getting out
31:27Here's my eyes
31:28I've got these feel good vibes
31:30Come on, let's make it
31:33Make it all
31:35We've got time
31:36Get back and drill outside
31:38Come on
31:39Hello
31:40Hey guys
31:41How are you?
31:42Doing well, how are you?
31:42So we were just gifted some land from my parents
31:46They gave us a lot in the same neighborhood that they live in
31:50And so now we are going to meet with a builder to give us estimates on you know
31:56The home that we would like to have to build on this lot
31:59So tell me what y'all are thinking about doing
32:01So there has been land that has been purchased
32:04Coincidentally in our parents neighborhood
32:07And it is a one acre lot and there's a pond
32:10But from the looks of the land it slopes down
32:14And we had a potential blueprint
32:16But we're not really sure if this blueprint will suit the land
32:19And we're really just trying to figure out if
32:22Barnuminiums are obviously the biggest trend right now
32:26A Barnuminium you really can think of it like a giant shed
32:30And it's something that bryce and i have looked into because it is a little bit more affordable
32:35And you can kind of customize it to any way that you want within a reasonable price
32:40We do have some in-house plans that we build all the time that are very popular but
32:46For your situation, you're going to probably want something a little more customized than those
32:51A little bit with my uh
32:54Intricate family
32:55So I definitely want a walk-in shower simply because it is more accessible for me
33:00Really there's no other LP accommodations that I would want in my home right now
33:04Just because since we do have an average size daughter
33:06I cannot raise her in a home where everything is my height
33:11If I was building a house from scratch
33:13I mean there would be some things that were tailored to me
33:17But nothing more than kitchen stools and like maybe some lowered light fixtures
33:24Lower the kitchen cabinets stuff like that just make it a little bit more accessible
33:28Having maybe an elevator in a house would be cool instead of stairs
33:32Where would the elevator get stuck?
33:34That would make it more fun
33:34Okay, well we don't think of that but still
33:36It'd be just like the fridge messing up you just call the maintenance guy
33:40Yeah
33:41On a typical barn dominium plan most of them are on a slab foundation
33:45Okay
33:46Of course that we'd have to see that we may be able to do some grading on your lot to get it to where
33:52We can accommodate a slab a lot with a slope like that
33:55It's typically going to be either a basement or a crawl space depending on how steep the slope is
34:01There have been multiple lots that we have looked at with my dad
34:05With the land being not super flat
34:07We are aware that grading and tree removals can be quite pricey
34:11For a typical we're going to say four bedroom two bathroom house
34:16So probably about 2200 square feet
34:18How long does that typically take for you guys to build?
34:21Um, six to nine months
34:22Six to nine months
34:25It's important to me to have mine and her own space with Layton
34:30With the time frame of the builder giving us six to nine months to build the house
34:36Me and her are a little pressured to get that done before her second birthday
34:41So the shorter we have to wait the better
34:44Because I would way much rather it be us three on our own and just enjoying it
34:51And then the only other thing that we might run into that would be a concern is if we were doing a basement foundation
34:59Of course we have to dig into the ground there may be some rock or something that could be a challenge to dig through
35:05With the added expenses of needing to grade and remove trees and add a basement foundation
35:12We've realized that this is definitely going to
35:16Require more money and more time to be able to build this home
35:19I'm just nervous about whenever we go to the land if like we're not able to build in the spot that we want to build or
35:27Uh, we're just gonna have to rethink a whole different blueprint
35:30So this meeting with the builder definitely may change our view on the land whether we want it or not
35:39There could be a chance where it could be more closer to Layton's third birthday instead and we don't want that
35:45So should we continue with you know keeping the land and building?
35:49Or should we go back to looking and just simply buying a house off the market? We definitely need to think about it
35:56Thank you so much. It's nice officially meeting you
36:09Ready? Yeah, I'm hungry. Get some Cincinnati chili. Yeah, I'm hungry
36:14Me too
36:16So tonight is my last night in Ohio and I figured I would treat Ali out to a dinner with some Cincinnati chili
36:25A lot of options
36:28A good way to describe Cincinnati chili is like a more runny that sounds gross but kind of like a less thick chili with like cinnamon in it
36:36It's usually served like on a big plate of noodles or like hot dogs or fries so it's kind of versatile on anything really
36:43Can I have chili cheese fries please?
36:47And I'll do the two cheese ponies
36:49Thank you
36:49Thank you
36:50I stutter too so you're good
36:53I stutter all the freaking time
36:56So Ali and I both have a stutter when like when we get nervous that is something we have in common
37:01We both like to be very organized and we both like to know what's coming up ahead so
37:06Yeah, we're both pretty similar in those fields
37:09And she's even about to have the same leg surgery that I had quite a few years ago now
37:13So are you nervous for your leg surgery any?
37:16I'm nervous to put under
37:19Like all the surgeries I've had going under is like the easiest part just read it in a few breaths and you're out
37:23Yeah, I'm just telling myself that that it's a deep sleep
37:28It is it really is
37:30So I'm having surgery in two weeks which will make my legs straight and so I can walk proper and I don't have and I don't walk on my ankles anymore
37:40Which I am really excited for I've been looking forward to this day for a long time and I can't wait
37:47Here's me before my surgery like you can see like how bad my legs were bowed
37:54You can tell how bowed they were
37:56My legs are like that. That's awful. I don't like it
38:00Alex had his surgery very young because his bowing was so extreme. He could not pull his pants up and down by himself
38:06Elizabeth had the surgery post puberty when she was 13 because
38:12During puberty the growth rate is higher and therefore the dwarf bones stayed dwarf and the non dwarf bones
38:19You know continued to grow and we ended up with bowing that also was creating back problems and things like that
38:27Dad wanted me to mention this to you. You're probably gonna have to get like a piece of wood
38:31As you can tell like with Liz underneath her legs just like they can stay upright
38:34So don't like fall down like this and they'll stay straight
38:37I will tell my dad that and Liz actually had to get her hair washed outside because she couldn't like go in the shower
38:43That is one thing that I'm going to figure out
38:47Since Alex has already had surgery, I'm not too
38:51Worried about it like I already know what to expect
38:54He's told me and I know that it's gonna be okay
38:58Mom dad and I will be there at the hospital on your surgery day. So we'll be there when you wake up
39:03Looking forward to that
39:05I'm just excited for the whole thing
39:08So in a way the surgery is kind of a plus for me too because I'll get to see Allie more often and she'll be a lot closer
39:13Yeah, like an hour away instead of eight hours away. Yeah, an hour and wasted eight hours. Yeah, exactly. It's nice
39:19Thanks for having me up there these past few days. I've really enjoyed it
39:22When are we gonna see each other again besides my surgery?
39:25My best bet is like like new year's uh trip. I always make grab me the past two years
39:31So not not too much longer actually
39:33Yeah, like a month
39:35It's a month two months. Yeah, not not bad
39:37Yeah, and as if we're seeing each other halfway through it, it'll make it go by faster
39:41Yeah, it's kind of nice that we're at the point of relationship where we have like traditions now
39:45Like I always make that trip at the end of the year
39:48It's been the last part of the holidays with Allie and her family and like spending years with them, so
39:52Yeah, but yeah, I'm gonna miss you on my flight home tomorrow. Yeah, it's gonna be sad
39:57It is hard waiting to be really close with Allie because I love being up there whenever I get the chance
40:02I've met the woman I'm gonna marry and I just can't wait to
40:06Count down the days and we'll eventually be together for the rest of our lives
40:10Thank you
40:18Next time on seven little Johnston's are you the birthday girl today is officially lighten's first birthday
40:24I don't know why there's only one person she absolutely despises and it's
40:28Heidi the goal for the first birthday party for me today was just not to make her cry
40:32Oh, yeah
40:33I think it's a pretty gay
40:34Yeah
40:36Okay, okay
40:38Heidi
40:42That was Ashley
40:43Good
40:44Getting to the point where there's a you know ring talking
40:47I have not thought of how I was gonna propose obviously with the ring
40:51I could be with her right now, but mine's strictly finance
40:54I think it's gonna be kind of like the tornado tornadoes here everybody take cover that's that's how we're gonna find out through Jonah
41:02I'm starving my two good girlfriends who are now aunts to Leighton we decided to get together and just talk and catch up
41:10You are now engaged really good looking yet
41:13I've expressed to Bryce whenever he feels ready to propose it should be when he's ready
41:24You
