00:00The United Nations Humanitarian Chief Tom Fletcher has urged for a dramatic expansion of UN presence in Sudan as violence intensifies in Darfur.
00:11Fletcher described Darfur as a horror show, adding the alpha share is a crime scene based on testimonies from survivors.
00:18It's very clear to me, it has been since my first week in the job when I visited Sudan and visited Darfur, that we need more UN boots on the ground.
00:29The UN is a ship that was not built to stay in the harbour, and this visit has been part of that big push to make sure we're mobilised closer to those we serve.
00:38Citing strong regional and international messaging, including from the White House, Fletcher said all parties must grant humanitarian access and work to end the conflict.
00:48The level of impunity in Sudan, he warned, is utterly unacceptable.
00:51Korma, I also met with RSF representatives to make clear that we demand full accountability for the atrocities that have taken place in Al-Fasha, that we insist on full civilian protection, and that we will be vigilant in protecting civilians.
01:07And we demand that of all the parties on the ground.
01:11We also discussed the requirements we have for safe passage into Al-Fasha and out of Al-Fasha.
01:19Into Al-Fasha for our humanitarian life-saving support and out of Al-Fasha for those civilians, the survivors who are so desperately looking to flee.
01:27Last month, the RSF seized Al-Fasha, the capital of North Darfur.
01:32They rampaged through the Saudi hospital in the city, killing more than 450 people, according to the World Health Organisation.
