00:07This came after the government of Puerto España had allowed the United States to conduct military
00:13exercises off its coast.
00:15High ranking of military officers, who spoke on condition of anonymity to the local media
00:21outlet Guardian Media, revealed the lack of coordination, they explained that they learned
00:26of the exercises through a press conference and not through official channels, which they
00:32described as unusual.
00:34This lack of planning prevents the proper selection of personnel and logistical management, such
00:39as the approval of weapons and ammunition.
00:42The foreign military presence and the conduct of joint exercises without transparent coordination
00:48raises questions about the defense protocols and sovereignty of the Caribbean country, as
00:53well as being a clear violation of international law and a threat to the countries of Latin America
00:59and the Caribbean.
