00:00Christie's Cabaret
00:10Christie's Cabaret has that over-the-top kind of feeling.
00:15It has the marble, the granite, the brass,
00:1850 to 100 girls on a night shift.
00:21Christie's was definitely head and shoulders above the rest.
00:25A lot of businessmen took their clients there to impress.
00:29They would give me $100 every time I'd bring them a drink.
00:32It's easy money.
00:36You have no clocks. You don't know what time it is.
00:39You want to get somebody sucked into the fantasy.
00:42It's big, big business.
00:44Sex sells.
00:46But there's some girls who are bad apples,
00:49and you know you just don't screw with them.
00:54911, what is your emergency?
00:56This is the best Western Hotel in Tempe.
00:58I have a dead body.
01:00Rick Chance had been shot and killed, which shocked me.
01:04Rick was a celebrity pitch man for an auto glass company that he owned.
01:08He was bringing in over $2 million a year.
01:12Rick Chance's murder caused a huge loss in the community,
01:15a father, a respected businessman.
01:18I figured he was robbed.
01:20He was missing a million dollars worth of jewelry.
01:23Rick's ex-wife, Jill Scott, could potentially have some sort of involvement.
01:28Jill was a former Mrs. America.
01:31She contracted to make a porn movie based on her title.
01:36Rick always knew it was a possibility that Jill would hire people to hurt him.
01:41She'd done that for another ex-husband.
01:44And he was afraid that she had hired a hitman to take him out.
01:48In 2002, Christie's Cabaret was the go-to entertainment club in Phoenix.
02:10Everybody got to know that that was the place to be.
02:13It's a higher-end club.
02:17There was definitely A-listers in the club.
02:19You would have a lot of business owners.
02:21They feel at home because it has that over-the-top kind of feeling.
02:26It has the marble, the granite, the brass.
02:29And then they had this huge stairway that went down to the main stage.
02:33But the golden rule is you don't talk about the names of the clients that come into your club.
02:43The dancers had a gown requirement.
02:45So when they would come down to do their first song, they were fully clothed.
02:49You know, evening gowns speak a lot more than booty shorts and a top.
02:57With some of the business guys, I think they take their customers there to impress.
03:02They can close a deal that way.
03:04As a cocktail waitress, they would give me $100 every time I'd bring them a drink.
03:09It's easy money.
03:12Some guys just are lonely.
03:14Guys that you would probably never flirt with or go out of your way to talk to.
03:18You have to put on an act.
03:24When you step into Christie's Cabaret, you have no clocks.
03:27You don't know what time it is.
03:29And that's done by purpose and by design.
03:31You want to get somebody sucked into the environment and into the fantasy.
03:35I always told girls, the four walls is the fantasy.
03:40Do not take it outside.
03:42Do not bring your outside stuff inside.
03:45The line starts and stops within the club.
03:48Just that one little spark throws it off.
03:51911, what is your emergency?
04:01This is the best Western Hotel in Tempe.
04:03I have a dead body.
04:04My housekeeper opened the door, saw it, came and got me.
04:07I went in, felt for a pulse, no pulse.
04:10Too late to start CPR, are you saying?
04:12I do believe so.
04:14I was leaving a training in Phoenix.
04:16And I got a page from police dispatch that there is a potential homicide at this hotel
04:21and asking us to respond.
04:23When we went into the room, there was a dead body on the floor next to the bed.
04:29This person was a white male, appeared to be in his mid-40s probably.
04:35There was what appeared to be a gunshot wound behind his right shoulder.
04:41Then there was a spent shell casing on the floor, a 9mm round.
04:45But with no weapon there, it wasn't going to be a suicide, so it must have been a homicide.
04:52There was no apparent signs of a struggle.
04:55So initially, we didn't have a whole lot to go on.
04:58We had way more questions than we had answers.
05:05As we were processing the scene, we found a wallet.
05:10And there was a driver's license in there.
05:13And I looked at the name and it said Rick Chance on it, which shocked me.
05:19Anybody who lived in the Phoenix metro area knew who Rick Chance was.
05:26Rick was a celebrity pitchman for an auto glass company that he owned.
05:30He built Empire Auto Glass up from a one-man operation to a multi-state operation,
05:37where he was bringing in salary of over $2 million a year.
05:43Rick Chance starred in all of his commercials.
05:47He was on TV as much as anybody.
05:50He loved being in the spotlight.
05:53And he was a big guy.
05:56He was like 6'3 and 230 pounds.
06:00But he came across as a gentle giant.
06:04And just a sincere, wonderful guy that you'd want to meet.
06:08I was one of his lawyers.
06:11We became great friends.
06:13He was like a son to me.
06:15He called me Mom.
06:16Rick was a great father.
06:19He had two kids that he adored.
06:22He was joyously religious.
06:25His belief was that if you were given gifts, you had to give back.
06:31And the more you gave, the more you received.
06:35I remember one time he came and got me.
06:38And we go to this care home.
06:40And here is this very elderly gal who was his nanny when he was a kid.
06:47And Rick paid for everything there and would pop by and bring all of this junk food to her and all the caregivers so that they would all treat her with extra care.
06:57That's the kind of guy he was.
07:02I couldn't imagine that Rick could be dead.
07:05I couldn't imagine that that light could go out in this world, you know.
07:09He was loved by so many people.
07:12As we processed the hotel room for evidence, we found a money clip with about $2,400 in cash in it.
07:29He had a set of car keys to a Mercedes Benz.
07:33He also had on a very expensive looking ring on his right ring finger.
07:39If it was a robbery, certainly they would have taken his jewelry and his wallet.
07:45The big question was, what was someone like Rick Chance doing in a hotel room like this?
07:51Inexpensive hotel rooms were not the type of place where he was known to do business.
07:56The hotel manager told us that Rick Chance had checked into this room the previous evening at about 9.15.
08:05But nobody had seen or heard anything that was helpful to the investigation.
08:10We were supposed to meet at 8 a.m. to film a commercial.
08:24And so everybody showed up. It was 8 a.m. where was Rick?
08:28I called his office and his home and there was no answer.
08:34So it was a big concern.
08:37When somebody's close to you and something's wrong, you can sense it.
08:41And there wasn't a doubt.
08:43So I called the police.
08:45We learned that Rick had recently started a jewelry business in addition to his auto glass business.
09:00Rick had a great passion for jewelry.
09:03He was designing it. He was always drawing things.
09:06And then having somebody make them.
09:08So he had jewelry he was going to sell.
09:10And he had this round leather satchel.
09:13Like a big briefcase that he would carry the jewelry in.
09:17He had that leather bag with him all the time.
09:22I went with the police to his house.
09:24The police got the safe open.
09:27When I started logging in all of this jewelry, there was $4 million worth of stuff in the safe.
09:35But a lot of the jewelry was gone.
09:37I figured there had to be a million dollars worth of jewelry in his bag.
09:44Now we had the question of where is that bag now?
09:48Because it wasn't in the hotel room.
09:50So it certainly is starting to look like a robbery at this point.
09:54So I didn't get a call.
10:11Rick actually came into the club one time.
10:15I was working on a Sunday night.
10:17One of the dancers came up to me and said,
10:19gentleman's up in vip and he's got like this briefcase that has a lot of jewelry in it
10:27i did mention to him you know probably nice if you opened up a retail location selling
10:32jewelry instead because i'm thinking in the back of my mind if you're walking
10:36around with jewelry in phoenix you're gonna have a big x on your back
10:40he just sort of chuckled and said yeah that's been a thought but it he just sort of brushed it off
10:50and then that's when i said well if you're walking around with this suitcase somebody who's following
10:56you is going to come into the club and we could have a whole issue that's going on in our hands
11:02and i didn't want to have that he left shortly after that he didn't really stick around
11:10after the murder the police asked candace and i to come up with a list of suspects
11:21and there were quite a few but at the top of the list there was jill scott his previous wife
11:29what made jill a suspect was the tempestuous marriage that they had had and the bitter divorce
11:34jill was a former mrs america and the mrs america pageant is a beauty pageant for married women
11:44she ended up losing her crown because it turns out that she had some big secrets
11:51rick always knew it was a possibility that his ex-wife jill would hire people to hurt him
11:57she'd done that for another ex-husband
11:58i believe joe was capable of hiring somebody to take rick out
12:16christie's was always known to have the most girls 50 to 100 girls on a night shift
12:21we would definitely get the cream of the crop you wanted to make sure that you had enough to keep
12:28you guys attention visuals are important because sex sells you'd have guys that were worth a lot of
12:37money and it only takes one customer to make a girl's night she could be working for five hours
12:44and not make a dollar and then all of a sudden she can walk out of there with a few thousand dollars
12:48i've seen girls get cars i've had a mercedes suv sitting outside the front door
13:01there's a huge difference in personalities on dancers there's what i call the 10 percenters
13:08they're the ones that probably own homes have cars
13:11and then you have all the other girls that sort of come in and make your life interesting
13:30we learned that rick's ex-wife jill scott could potentially have some sort of involvement in this
13:36case there's a lot of animosity and hard feelings there they had only known each other for a very
13:43short time like six weeks and the next thing you know they were going to get married in vegas
13:49and they ended up doing it on good morning america
13:54a 7 a.m wedding isn't that what you always dreamed of good morning america
13:58it is happy valentine's day and this morning we have a show full of heart for you
14:02i don't know that the ink was even dry on the marriage license when cracks began to appear on
14:08the facade of their happy marriage jill was a former mrs america but it turns out that she was
14:17separated from her husband at the time once they found out she not only lost her crown the organizers
14:24of the pageant sued her over breach of contract for a hundred thousand dollars and they won
14:29she then contracted with a production company to make a porn movie based on her title the film was
14:38to be titled mrs triple x america rick didn't know about her separation from her husband the lawsuit or
14:48the movie that she had planned to make those all came as surprises to him
14:52he realized that they didn't know each other particularly well and that um she was after
15:02something other than him his money so rick often referred to jill as a gold digger
15:13he told us that she was a master at using a religion against him she would find out passages
15:19from the new testament that she could show him that were designed to convince him that you need to
15:25give me ownership in your business jill had tried to get him to sign a whole series of trusts wherein
15:33by the time he got to the end of the series jill was the sole owner of vampire glass and rick owned nothing
15:40he'd take it seriously and we'd be on the other side saying no no no that's not how it works
15:50jill scott was a grifter who had married him for the publicity for the money for the fame that's my
15:57opinion luckily he was smart enough to realize that probably something is not right here and he was
16:05heartbroken and we filed for divorce i think she was shocked and very very angry with him
16:14it was a fight from the beginning
16:26they found out that she had a criminal record
16:29while she was married to rick she had a pair of bounty hunters pick up
16:34her ex-husband of hers for failure to pay child support they brought him back in handcuffs
16:41he then was released by the police because that's that's not something that you can do and
16:48sued her i think it's fair to say that if you're willing to have your ex-husband kidnapped you're
16:56willing to use violence
17:02we learned that jill was living in a different state at the time so one of the members of our team was
17:07able to interview her by phone she was upset she was nervous she was scared and during that interview
17:15she was very cooperative she was forthcoming with every detail she held nothing back from the police
17:23and they learned that jill was not in the state at the time of rick's murder
17:35ultimately through further investigation we ruled her out as a suspect pretty quickly
17:40jill didn't have anything to do with this
17:53when i heard about rick chance's murder it sort of put chills down my spine they mentioned it was
18:00possibly a robbery from his jewelry and that's what got my attention because i'd already had an
18:04inner reaction with him i just said if you're walking around with jewelry in phoenix you're gonna
18:11have a big x on your back when i had met him he seemed intrinsically genuine and i can't imagine
18:21what his children are going through
18:25everybody at christie's was talking about it everybody knew who rick was he was the glass
18:30guy i think i just basically was just like shocked it just wondering what happened
18:47there was a video surveillance system in the hotel but it had its limitations
18:53they had 12 cameras throughout the hotel
18:56but rather than each camera recording continuously the system would rotate from one camera for five
19:04seconds to the next camera for five seconds so between each camera you're gonna have about a minute gap
19:12as we reviewed the video we could actually watch rick as he was checking into the hotel
19:19and then as the cameras cycle through and comes back at 9 34 a minute later
19:23and now there's a female standing next to rick
19:29it wasn't a real clear picture of her but it was good enough that she did have an asian appearance to
19:35her she had dark hair probably the last person who ever saw him alive
19:42as we're watching the video we did pick them up on other cameras where they were out in the parking lot
19:48and rick had a nylon gym bag in his hand there's more than likely jewelry in that bag
20:00a few minutes later we see the same woman who was at the front counter with rick
20:06is now in the soda vending room up on the third floor it was 20 to 30 feet down the hall from rick's room
20:18after the video cycled around through again she wasn't there
20:25she could be a witness she could be a suspect she may have critical information
20:31that will help us figure out who killed rick and why
20:42i told the police of the night before his murder rick had called me and told me his plans
20:50he says well i'm going out again with that hot asian girl that i've been dating
20:55and i said how'd you meet her he said online he says she's asked me if i can bring along my jewelry
21:03case to show off to a couple that's looking for an engagement ring the police showed us the surveillance
21:11video i mean you couldn't really see her face too well but uh very probably that was the girl he was
21:18with that night but we didn't know who she was by name we had learned that rick had been on several
21:27matchmaking websites and had been in communication with somebody whose name or moniker was island girl
21:37we had figured out his password we put it in the computer and to our surprise
21:43he had scheduled a date with an asian girl by the code name island girl the night that he was murdered
22:04the money is a big draw for girls that want to work at christie's but in order to be a dancer in the
22:09city of phoenix the girls had to go through a background check and get a license which included
22:13their main stage name so when you go into a club and you have a savannah already working and then
22:26another savannah comes in with a new license you're like oh that name was already taken so what other
22:30names do you have on your list i would have girls that would say if you see me out in public never call
22:37me by my stage name and i always used to joke about how if i knew a girl's real name first and last
22:44name they were probably a problem child for me we were able to obtain island girls identity through the
23:03dating website and were able to come up with a home address for her and contact her she told the
23:12detectives she had been in communication with rick on the dating website and they had in fact set a date
23:20and rick didn't show up looking at her it became obvious right away that she was not the person in the
23:30video and it was quite apparent that she had no role in this whatsoever and so at that point to get
23:39this woman in the video identified we decided to release those images to the press she's in her early
23:4620s asian about five foot three last seen wearing blue jeans and a long white shirt we probably received
23:55close to 100 tips but there was one name that started emerging as as a very common denominator
24:01and that was brandy hungerford and that she was a dancer at christie's cabaret in phoenix
24:12i was home one night with the guy that i was dating at the time and that's when i looked at the news and i
24:19said oh my gosh you know that's brandy and he goes oh maybe it's just somebody that looks like her
24:25and i was like no that is definitely brandy i know the way she stands that's her stance
24:30i know the way she leans i know that that was brandy
24:33i met brandy at the club we became fast friends and we just started doing things together
24:53brandy had a tough exterior people that we worked with some of them thought that she didn't like them
24:58but brandy was a hustler she she was there to make money brandy was more of the mysterious type and
25:06and men like that men were drawn to her um they were drawn to her exotic looks
25:13brandy always knew how to handle customers you know so if they got a little handsy or whatever
25:18brandy always knew how to put them in their place
25:20when i saw her on tv i was upset i was confused i did call the tip line and i just basically said i
25:33know who it is i was concerned about brandy's safety especially when you have a friend that
25:40you're so close to something wasn't right the following morning we were notified that there was
25:54a woman in the lobby of the police station who said that she believed the girl in the video to be her
26:00daughter brandy hungerford she said that she hadn't seen brandy for about two weeks
26:06she told the police that uh over time brandy had changed um you know she lost her father to cancer
26:15and that had a profound effect on her life she thought her daughter was not making the best
26:20choices but she was certainly not a killer her mom told us that brandy might be staying with a boyfriend
26:31named robert lemke and in conducting a criminal history check on him we find that he has a criminal
26:39history he's been arrested for crimes of violence before he was a fugitive from justice he had jumped
26:47bail after a felony weapons charge and he had already been convicted of an assault charge
26:55now we had some concerns about brandy's welfare given his propensity for violence
27:01the fact that rick is dead is brandy next perhaps robert was the person we were actually looking for
27:10as being the person who committed this crime
27:23now that we have robert's name we're also able to go back and review the hotel surveillance video
27:29the night that rick chance had been shot and killed in this hotel room as the detective was reviewing
27:36these videos in the lobby he saw the figure of a guy who was tall and muscular and kind of fit the body
27:44type of robert a few minutes later down the hall from rick's room the same person was captured
27:54walking past that vending room that we had seen brandy hungerford previously
28:01it's not a real clear picture but we felt pretty confident that that was indeed robert
28:07we knew that this was 20 minutes or so after rick checked in and it seemed to fit that timeline of rick's
28:14homicide detectives went out to robert's apartment but nobody was there this is who we really need
28:23to find because he's just become our number one suspect
28:46one of the managers came up to me and said there's some detectives that want to talk to you
28:50police had gotten a hold of brandy's phone records and they had told me that i was the last person
28:59that had talked to her so my stomach dropped a little i told them that brandy and robert were
29:05hanging out a lot and she didn't necessarily say that he was her boyfriend but i mean obviously there
29:11was something else going on you know she just didn't have a label for it
29:15they just questioned me a lot about you know if she was capable of of doing this
29:23and i said no brandy wasn't that type of person
29:28i told him i haven't heard from her and i had no idea where she was
29:34brandy just seemed to have disappeared
29:37it was a huge story because the club industry in phoenix may have like 20 some clubs
29:42but it's still small enough that everybody knows everybody so when something happens in a club
29:48environment like that we all start talking and then of course you know you get the rumors and you
29:53got to sort of separate fact from fiction was brandy a part of it was she not part of it was she
29:59another victim i did know i was just waiting for the story to unfold it was a high profile case and i
30:07was concerned about how it could affect the business you don't want to have a client that comes into
30:13the club or a girl be associated with something like that because it sort of puts your club in a bad
30:20light i don't care who you are it just creates questions you just don't want that kind of bad juju
30:37peace
30:39during a search of the apartment we actually located jewelry tags that had been snipped and thrown
30:46into the trash can and those tags were linked back to having been on rick chance's jewelry
30:55along with that we also found a newspaper and there was a an ad that was circled placed by rick
31:03Chance for some Rolex watches that he was selling.
31:08And one watch was found at the apartment Robert
31:11was staying at that we were able to positively identify
31:14as being Rick Chance's watch.
31:17So now we have definitive evidence
31:20that tied them to Rick Chance.
31:30Robert's roommate went on to tell us
31:32that the night before Rick was discovered,
31:35Robert and Brandy had come to the home.
31:38Robert was pretty evasive as to what was going on,
31:41but he did tell her, if the cops come by,
31:43you haven't seen me.
31:44And then they were gone.
31:47Later, she spoke to Robert on the phone,
31:49and he said that he was now staying
31:51with a mutual friend of theirs at an apartment in Tacoma,
31:54and she gave us that person's address.
31:57The roommate asked Robert, well, where's Brandy?
32:01And Robert's response was, I don't know.
32:04He hadn't seen Brandy.
32:05He didn't know anything about her.
32:07That's when our concern for Brandy really amped up.
32:10Did Robert kill her somewhere along the way
32:13between Phoenix and Tacoma?
32:15Is she really with him?
32:17We don't know.
32:29It was very clear that Robert and Brandy
32:33were who we were looking for.
32:35So at this point, we reached out to Tacoma Police Department,
32:39and they were able to come up with an address for the apartment
32:44that they were staying.
32:47The plan was to take Robert into custody
32:50on his two outstanding warrants for unlawful possession
32:53of a firearm while we continued to build our case
32:56against him on Rick's homicide.
32:59And hopefully, we're able to locate Brandy Hungerford with him.
33:16As they were arriving, they saw Robert come out
33:20of the apartment and get into a vehicle and leave the area.
33:24And so they followed that vehicle for a few blocks
33:27before they actually made a high-risk traffic stop.
33:30Robert got down on his knees, but as the officers
33:34were starting to approach, he took off like a jackrabbit.
33:40That's a pretty good indication that there might be some level
33:43of guilt here.
33:44And so the officers tackled him a short distance later
33:49and were able to take him into custody.
33:51It was like such a sigh of relief and excitement.
33:54It was like, we scored the big touchdown.
34:01I get the call from the police while I was at the funeral.
34:08Everybody was there.
34:09There was a big turnout, and the whole family, of course.
34:12John Farron said that they had him, that they'd gotten Lemke,
34:17and I just lost it.
34:20It was a relief.
34:22That guy should never be free.
34:26He is a danger and always will be.
34:36The detectives went back to the apartment,
34:39and they actually found Brandy, and she was alive and well.
34:43And that was pretty incredible.
34:46She was nervous.
34:47She was scared.
34:48And she was willing to speak with the police.
34:56We arrived at the Tacoma Police Department,
34:58and the local Phoenix media was already ahead of us.
35:04Are you going to talk to Ms. Hungerford today?
35:07We'll see.
35:08As they entered the police station and courthouse
35:11in Tacoma, Washington, a group of homicide detectives
35:14from Tempe definitely wearing their game faces today.
35:17I'm in a lot of trouble, aren't I?
35:29It's going to be vitally important to you,
35:31but you do tell the whole truth.
35:33OK.
35:33OK?
35:34I want to go to the truth.
35:36That's what my investigation is about.
35:37OK?
35:42Brandy told police that the whole plot
35:44had begun when she and Robert saw an advertisement
35:49for Rolex watches that Rick had placed for his jewelry
35:52business in the newspapers.
35:55Let's start with when you first met Rick, Chance.
35:58I called him.
36:01And then I asked him if he wanted to go out.
36:05Did you get the phone number from Robert?
36:07Right.
36:08What did Robert tell you that first client?
36:11Go meet this guy and see if he'd like to.
36:13OK.
36:14So what was the purpose of that?
36:16I know the answer to this question.
36:18So do I?
36:19Well, I don't know what you want me to say.
36:22Well, I said it.
36:23The objective is the truth.
36:25And I tell you what, this is going to be listened
36:27to by other people.
36:28You know that.
36:29If it seems like I have to sit here and pull stuff out of you,
36:32I'm just going to look.
36:34It doesn't look very good.
36:35So yeah, I'd love to know what the plan was.
36:40The plan was that Robert was going to rob this guy.
36:43He had been on three or four dates with her, and so I'm sure there was a sense of safety
36:58that he had as some sense of security.
37:02Later on, she told Rick she had some friends who were interested in looking at his jewelry
37:09and arranged to meet him at this hotel.
37:16But Brandy went on to say that ultimately there never were any friends that wanted to see
37:21the jewelry.
37:22It was all just a setup to get Rick and the jewelry into the hotel room.
37:26It takes a certain person to be a con artist like she was, to sort of spend all that time
37:34with him knowing that she had a nefarious purpose in mind at the end of the game.
37:40She conned him.
37:41There's crime and there's punishment.
37:55Let's talk about meeting at the hotel.
37:57Robert told me to call him when we got to the hotel, so I did.
38:05I told him I was calling my friend.
38:07So after you guys check in, where do you guys go?
38:11We go up to the room.
38:14We hang out.
38:15We talk.
38:16He lights up a cigar, smokes it.
38:17And you told Rick that you were going to go do what?
38:20I was going to go get a Coke.
38:23I step out of the hallway, I see Robert down at the other end of the hallway.
38:28Robert asked me what room I'm in, I point.
38:31He's standing there upright walking with his hands out in front of him like he was holding
38:36the gun.
38:39I peek out around the corner and at some time I hear a pop and it scares me.
38:48She went to the car, waited, and a minute or two later Robert showed up with a bag of
38:52jewelry.
38:53Robert didn't tell her what had happened.
38:56She didn't really ask.
38:57And then the next morning they drove straight through to Tacoma, Washington.
39:02I can tell you though that he did not tell me that he was going to kill him.
39:08What did he tell?
39:09He told me he was just going to rob him.
39:13I thought Rick was alive the whole time.
39:17And your friend mentioned that I'm not upset about it, I actually am.
39:23I like Rick because he's really nice.
39:29It appeared that Brandy was remorseful for what had happened.
39:33But in Arizona, if you're in the commission of a felony and somebody dies, you're charged
39:37with first-degree murder even though you weren't in the hotel room when the trigger was pulled.
39:42At that point, I placed Brandy under arrest and booked her into jail.
39:47After Brandy was arrested, everybody at Christie's was talking about it.
40:00I really don't know why she would put herself in that position because Brandy was capable
40:06of making money.
40:07As a dancer, she was very good at schmoozing her customers.
40:12So I really don't know why she would do that.
40:16It just breaks my heart that she did.
40:18I felt betrayed.
40:20She was my friend.
40:21I trusted her.
40:33I really wanted to see Robert, but he had already indicated that he was going to invoke
40:38his Miranda rights and would not be talking.
40:41But while he was in custody, Robert had made a phone call from the jail to one of his friends
40:48and on a recorded line told him, that pizza box I gave you, you need to get rid of it
40:54because it's about to stink up your house.
40:57We were able to secure that apartment and obtain a search warrant and had found a 9mm handgun.
41:04That gun was sent for ballistic testing and ultimately it was confirmed that this was indeed the murder weapon.
41:11Even though the rest of that jewelry was never located, we had built a strong enough case against him
41:17that he was ultimately charged with first degree murder, armed robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery,
41:24and ultimately was extradited back to Arizona.
41:27Former Valley Stripper and now accused killer Brandy Hungerford copped a plea and dropped a dime, pleading guilty to second degree murder while agreeing to testify against her one-time boyfriend Robert Lemke Jr.
41:46We think the police and the courts got it right putting her in prison for 14 years.
41:59She was an accomplice in just a heinous crime, but she wasn't the one who pulled the trigger.
42:18We shared with the family a sense of relief and completion.
42:23They took away from a family, from friends, from the community, somebody who just had so much to give.
42:32I try to remember Rick with joy.
42:35I see him in my dreams as the vibrant, abouillant type of guy he was.
42:42He was always within reach. He was always there for you.
42:45He loved life like nobody you ever met.
42:48He decided he was going to take the world by storm, and he did.
42:52You know, he was, he was very special.
42:56Yeah, yeah.
