External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow, reinforcing the strength of the India-Russia strategic partnership ahead of President Vladimir Putin’s upcoming visit to New Delhi. Both leaders highlighted the importance of their regular engagements and discussed key bilateral initiatives expected to be finalised during the 23rd Annual India-Russia Summit.
They also exchanged views on major global conflicts—including Ukraine, the Middle East, and Afghanistan—with India reiterating its support for peace efforts and calling for an early cessation of hostilities worldwide. Lavrov affirmed that India remains a top priority in Russia’s foreign policy, noting growing cooperation across energy, defense, agriculture, maritime infrastructure, and science.
Separately, senior Russian official Nikolai Patrushev held talks in New Delhi with NSA Ajit Doval on expanding maritime collaboration in shipbuilding, port development, logistics, crew training, and ocean research.
