Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov strongly criticized U.S. pressure on India over its oil trade with Moscow, backing New Delhi’s stance during high-level talks with S. Jaishankar. Hours after meeting Lavrov, India’s Foreign Minister also met Russian President Vladimir Putin, where both sides highlighted the resilience of India–Russia relations despite global tensions. As Washington urges India to cut energy ties with Russia, Moscow and New Delhi reaffirm their “steady” partnership, focusing on trade, energy, and strategic cooperation.
India Not The Biggest Buyer of Russian Oil: Jaishankar In Moscow :: https://www.oneindia.com/international/india-not-the-biggest-buyer-of-russian-oil-jaishankar-in-russia-7836501.html?ref=DMDesc
00:00This is a multipolar system of international relations with an increasing role played by the SCO, BRICS and the G20.
00:30And, of course, the United Nations, which remains a platform for interaction between all the existing and future centers of power, a platform for cooperation, compromise and seeking agreement, and Russia supports seeking such balanced approaches.
00:48I'm very glad to see you and I hope for fruitful talks today.
00:51Yesterday, the co-chairs of our Intergovernmental Commission noted that last year the bilateral trade volume increased by 15% and set a record high in the post-Soviet history of the relations between Moscow and New Delhi.
01:10We welcome the project and implementation of the project of an international transport corridor north-south.
01:21Here we have shared interest with our Indian friends and we agreed to encourage and promote this work with other participants of the project.
01:30There are plans to enhance transport through the northern sea route and many other things.
01:42We have good outcomes and good results in our cooperation in terms of hydrocarbons and Russian oil supplies to the Indian market.
01:52And we share the interest of implementing joint projects in order to produce energy sources, including in the Russian Federation, in the Far East and in the Arctic.
02:03On the whole, the economic foundation of our special and privileged strategic partnership
02:11is developing incrementally and progressively, and it stresses the special nature of our relations.
02:22We are convinced that development of this strategic partnership is in the fundamental interests of our peoples
02:31and contributes to international and regional security and stability, which is quite important in these days' challenging conditions on the global arena.
02:43Here we discussed the upcoming events, which are part of this dialogue, including preparation for the visit of President of the Russian Federation to India,
02:53which will take place by the end of this year.
02:56Here we have plans to prepare to come up with a solid package of documents for this summit.
03:02And undoubtedly we have a good tradition, we have good traditions in the field of military cooperation,
03:11we hold joint exercises, and in the field of military and technical cooperation,
03:16which is also underpinned by our shared history.
03:24As for the international topics, we discussed the situation in the context of what is happening in Ukraine.
03:39Following the phone conversation between President of the Russian Federation with Prime Minister of India,
03:45we informed in detail our Indian guests about the current state of discussions which are ongoing with participation of our U.S. partners in particular in the context of the talks held in Alaska when President Putin followed the invitation of President Trump and paid a visit to the United States of America.
04:10And we also spoke about the fact that there is an interest in a rapid settlement, and we discussed how this willingness to reach an agreement could serve the legitimate interests of all participants.
04:32We discussed the situation in Afghanistan.
04:34We discussed the situation in Afghanistan.
04:35We shared the position that there is a need to pragmatically ensure that Afghanistan is part of international regional processes.
04:45We spoke about the Middle East settlement, the catastrophic situation which is currently in place in the Palestinian territories.
04:54I'm talking about humanitarian situation, and we discussed the situation around the Iranian nuclear program and also a number of other international topics.
05:04We closely coordinate our work in multilateral bodies such as the UN BRICS, Shanghai Cooperation Organization Organization, the G20.
05:16And today we agreed to continue with this coordination.
05:19I believe our outcomes were quite useful, and they added to the economic agenda that was discussed during the visit of His Excellency Prime Minister, and we agreed to continue our contacts including in order to prepare for the visit of President Putin to India.
05:45Speaking of the meeting mentioned by President Zelensky, remember that for a long time he was saying that he would never have any contacts with Putin, and he never cancelled his three-year-old executive order that put a ban on any contacts with President Putin.
06:10His activities and his talks about the summit with the Russian leader have a certain goal to pursue.
06:19He is merely trying to show his constructive nature and his adherence to settlement, but essentially he is only trying to replace, to substitute the hard work to agree upon the principles of sustainable crisis settlement.
06:39He is trying to substitute that with such comedy-style statements and populist statements and other tricks that the Ukrainian leader, the current so-called Ukrainian leader is quite actively using such tricks.
06:57He is scared that attention to his personality may drop, as we see today.
07:04However, our President has said on numerous occasions that he is ready to meet, and he is ready to meet President Zelensky too, understanding that any questions that need high-level consideration would be well elaborated and deeply discussed, and experts and ministers are supposed to prepare relevant recommendations.
07:25And we should have an understanding that when it comes to signing any future agreements, we will solve the issue of the legitimacy of the person who will sign these agreements on the Ukrainian side.
07:42Ukraine wants to get the Western guarantees, the guarantees that a part of the territory of the former Ukrainian Soviet Republic would retain the current Ukrainian regime, which has an openly anti-Russian neo-Nazi aggressive nature, which blatantly violates the principles of human rights.
08:10The UN Charter demands that the rights of any human should be respected regardless of race, gender, religion.
08:22Many times, many times we have taken note that the West, which is trying to teach everyone how to ensure human rights in accordance with the neoliberal doctrines, but when they are talking about Ukraine, they never mention the phrase human rights.
08:40Does this mean that the West is satisfied with the way the Ukrainian regime is destroying the Russian language in all areas, in education, in culture, in the media? Are they satisfied with the way the Ukrainian regime puts a ban on the canonical?
