While it's curtains for the penny, Sandy the Pony is here to stay! The folks at Meijer have assured WWJ that Sandy — which famously costs 1¢ to ride — is not going away despite that the penny will no longer be stamped at the U.S. Mint.

Meijer historian Lisa VanArragon tells us the company wants to keep Sandy affordable for families, and a long term plan is in the works.
