00:00Hi, this is Bonnie Anne Clyde, and you can get your Drag Race fix on page six.
00:07Hi, I'm Jason.
00:08I'm Brian.
00:09And welcome back to Workroom Weekly.
00:11We're talking RuPaul's Drag Race UK Season 7, Episode 8.
00:16And we are giving family resemblance today.
00:18We did! We didn't even plan this.
00:20No, I love it. The black. The chic.
00:22Come on, a little darkness. A little darkness.
00:24But there was actually some color in this episode.
00:27Absolutely.
00:27These looks were really great, but I'm getting ahead of myself.
00:30I'm just getting excited.
00:31It's a makeover week.
00:32It's makeover week. Makeover week is always so fun.
00:35I feel like there are some seasons where we don't get a makeover challenge.
00:38And I always love these. I love seeing who they bring in, what energy do they bring.
00:42And of course, when we recapped Slash and Royale, the makeover episode was my favorite,
00:47where they did over the overseas foreign workers.
00:51The OFWs.
00:52OFWs. I was crying. I thought the looks were beautiful.
00:55This gives regular people, non-drag performers, a chance to find this new character
01:02and let their beauty shine.
01:06Exactly. I think I either want to see hardworking mothers or ripped firefighters.
01:10I'd want nothing in between.
01:12That's what I want from a makeover challenge.
01:14But so at the top of this episode, this is following Paige 3's elimination.
01:18So sad.
01:18We both actually spoke with her following the elimination.
01:22Had such a fun time.
01:23Isn't she like the best?
01:25Hilarious. So funny.
01:26Huge career ahead.
01:27I mean, if you haven't seen that interview, definitely go check it out now.
01:31But Paige is so funny.
01:34Aside from being like, you know, a tall drink of water that can wear any outfit and an amazing dancer,
01:39it's just the banter.
01:41Oh my God. I was just like dying.
01:43Yeah, it was awesome.
01:44And the girls are feeling a certain way about this because she was stiff competition.
01:49You know, Bones is feeling sad because she had to send home, you know, her close friend.
01:53Katrin is like gagged by the whole thing.
01:56Tayris is the only one who's like happy about it.
01:58She's like, girl, one of the biggest competitors is now out of the competition.
02:02These root badges mean nothing, turns out.
02:04Yeah, it's kind of crazy.
02:05Like you said, you went from win to eliminated.
02:08It's just a crazy fall from grace.
02:10But I think things will definitely be on the up and up for Miss Paige 3.
02:15So this was obviously the Snatch Game episode and Bonnie was the winner.
02:19Chair!
02:20Chair, baby. Come on.
02:21So her and Elle both now have two badges.
02:25They're in the leading the pack.
02:27And it was really great.
02:28You know, I think Bones was also, you know, feeling good about herself.
02:32The girls were reaffirming her place in the competition.
02:34You know, she's a force to be reckoned with.
02:37And the fact that she was in the bottom with Paige was quite shocking to a lot of people.
02:40Yeah, it seems like, you know, Elle and Bones are the ones to beat.
02:44Yeah, absolutely.
02:45So we will definitely keep our eyes on them.
02:47But this week, like you said, the Maxi Challenge was our makeover challenge.
02:52So exciting.
02:53But I'm going to need you to help me out with this because they are making over celebrity Huns.
03:00Right. This is not Attila and the Huns.
03:02I was...
03:02This is not...
03:03Yeah.
03:03What is a Hun?
03:04Please.
03:04Hun is short for honey.
03:06It's basically, in the U.S., we have, like, stan culture.
03:09Okay.
03:09People that kind of, you know, go crazy over maybe not the most famous celebrities in the world.
03:15Maybe they're a little has-been.
03:16Maybe they were famous 20 years ago and now they have a second or third career under the belt.
03:20So Hun culture are, you know, gays and girls who are obsessed with soap operas, reality show characters.
03:28You know, these are winners from pop idol back in 2003.
03:31These are, you know, gay icons, LGBTQ, you know, fan base go for these types.
03:39And so we don't really have the exact equivalent here.
03:42But I was trying to think of, like, who is...
03:43Who do I Hun for?
03:45Probably, like, someone like Wendy Williams.
03:47Oh, love.
03:48Right?
03:48Yeah, of course.
03:49You know, where every clip of her makes me die laughing.
03:52You know, Wendy is not at the top of her game right now.
03:55But, you know, the gays and the girls, they will stan Wendy till the day we all die.
04:00Okay, that makes a lot more sense.
04:02So who do you, who are you Hunnin' for?
04:04Who do I Hun?
04:05Who do I stan?
04:06Well, if you're saying specifically they might have had, like, a life before and maybe are seeing a resurgence, maybe like a Rebecca Black, I would say.
04:14Absolutely.
04:14Like, you know, she was, like, child star and then now she has this rebrand and she's beloved by the gays.
04:20So maybe someone like that?
04:21Totally, totally.
04:22Okay, good.
04:22So I think, you know, when we get this, the celebrity Huns come in and the only one I recognize, because, you know, we're on the other side of the pond.
04:29But I remember Charlotte Church.
04:32Oh.
04:32When she was 11, she was the voice of an angel.
04:35She had a classical choral album out and it was top of the charts in the UK.
04:40It sold millions of albums.
04:42She's now 39, 40 years old.
04:44And so Charlotte Church, I was like, oh, I know her.
04:47Fun.
04:47So, of course, the gays and the girls, they love Charlotte.
04:51Yeah.
04:51And Katrin loved her specifically because she's Welsh and she was like, oh, my gosh, like an icon.
04:57So, yes, like you said, Charlotte was one of them.
04:59Some other people we had were Michelle McManus, Diane Parrish, Shabna Galani, Danny Harmer, David Potts.
05:09Really cool.
05:09And it felt like all the girls kind of knew of these people.
05:12These are, like, big cultural mainstays within UK culture.
05:15Oh, absolutely.
05:16It's like, you know, I feel like if you were on a soap opera, if you were on a kid's TV show or you won a reality show maybe 15 years ago, maybe you weren't treated so wonderfully in the press.
05:28But, you know, your true fans stuck by you.
05:31I would love to see this adapted to the U.S.
05:34Like, well, who would be six U.S. Huns that Drag Race would bring in?
05:39I mean, they'd be definitely getting the Degrassi cast together.
05:41You know, Disney Channel, you know, probably early days of American Idol.
05:47Yeah.
05:47Okay.
05:48I like that.
05:48I like that.
05:49So the girls ended up pairing up.
05:51Well, actually, the Huns got to pick their queens based on, it would think it was their Brit Gala looks that they were kind of going off of.
05:58So Michelle got paired with Elle, Diane with Katrin, Charlotte with Bones, Shabna with Selexa, Danny with Tayris, and David with Bonnie.
06:08I really thought these girls brought such good energy.
06:11Like, seeing them in the workroom and just seeing the way that so many of them were just so happy and excited to be there.
06:19Oh, my God.
06:19Charlotte and Bones had such great chemistry.
06:22This was so great.
06:23And Selexa and Shabna also seemed like a match made in heaven.
06:26Yeah.
06:27And they were both really opening up this episode.
06:30There was a lot of deep conversations being had.
06:32You know, they were talking a lot about, like, body image.
06:35And I think it was Shabna who was talking about, like, you know, as a soap opera star, like, you are forced to kind of be confronted with your physical appearance.
06:42And it got to a point where she literally was removing mirrors from her house because she had such, like, debilitating body dysmorphia, which is, like, crazy to think about.
06:52If you are in a soap opera, you're filming five days a week.
06:55You're in the makeup chair for an hour at least every day.
06:58You know, you really are kind of, you know, put on the spot all the time.
07:03It's not a typical acting gig.
07:05Mm-hmm.
07:05No, 100%.
07:06And then she also was talking about, like, sexuality.
07:10And the girls were kind of getting into, like, you know, just where the Huns kind of find themselves on the spectrum, which was really interesting.
07:18Sure.
07:18And also on femininity's spectrum.
07:20You know, like, being put in drag, more than one of the celebrity Huns said, this is the most feminine I've ever felt.
07:27Mm-hmm.
07:28After getting a makeover by a drag queen, it's kind of ironic, you know?
07:31Yeah, it was really cool.
07:32And, you know, it shows that even, you know, like, like, cis women, when they do drag, like, it's an evolution.
07:39It is, you know, we really see it.
07:40First time wearing a corset.
07:42Yes.
07:42So it's, like, this art form really can elevate any gender identity that chooses to do it, which is so cool to see.
07:50I love that they included a male in it.
07:52You know, we had mostly women.
07:54This was really fun.
07:55So let's talk about, you know, let's actually get into it.
07:58You know, the category was drag family resemblance.
08:01So the first one, I think we should, let's just run through all of them.
08:03Let's just talk about them.
08:04And can I just say, real quick, Michelle Visage needs to cool it with the family resemblance critique.
08:10On the U.S. version of the show, on the U.K. version of the show, she's always like, I love this look.
08:14I didn't see the family resemblance.
08:16I'm just getting a best friendship.
08:18Okay.
08:19Friends who called up and said, ooh, let's go out and let's do, like, flip.
08:22You had a good time and that really is what drag's all about.
08:26But I am not getting family resemblance.
08:28She's, like, laser focused on this idea of, like, family resemblance.
08:32Like, like, two sisters can't wear different colors.
08:36Yeah.
08:37She's so crazy about it.
08:38I hate this note.
08:39And it comes up every single time they do this challenge.
08:42I know, I know, and we do hear it for some of the girls.
08:45But let's talk about, so the first one that walked down the runway was Katrin Feelings and Shirley Bassey.
08:51The girls went as literal sheep.
08:54This was so fun.
08:56This was campy.
08:57The outfits were not the most high fashion, which, you know, is a point to note.
09:03But they really served it up.
09:06They served it up.
09:08The girls fully leaned into it.
09:10They were funny.
09:11It was such a great time.
09:12Yeah.
09:13I really enjoyed it.
09:14And then we had Elle Vosk and Vanity Vosk.
09:17They were doing these blue and pink looks.
09:20This was the chicest gender reveal I've ever seen was in this.
09:23Again, they did note that these outfits were.
09:26It was.
09:27It was hot.
09:28But I was like, I'm going to bring them to my house whenever I've got a bun in the oven.
09:33But I loved, you know, they did talk about in critiques how these outfits were a little simple.
09:38But I thought they looked great.
09:39They seemed like two friends going out for a night in the town.
09:42And no, but I think the fabric was also just very flattering.
09:45Yeah.
09:46Elle knows what she's doing.
09:47She does.
09:47She's never looked bad out there.
09:49No.
09:49And that's something to note about all these makeovers.
09:52The girls looked good.
09:53Like sometimes we get some crunchy makeovers, you know.
09:57But a lot of these girls literally could pass as drag queens.
10:01Like I was like, oh my goodness.
10:03Speaking of one that we've got to talk about, Bones and Blood.
10:08Pack it up.
10:09Pack it up.
10:09I lost my mind.
10:11The Oscar goes to for best wardrobe and makeup.
10:14I mean, this was stunning.
10:16Yeah.
10:17I mean, I just like all the goth goosebumps.
10:21Yeah.
10:21This was so good.
10:23Guillermo del Toro is calling up Bones right now.
10:25And saying, you know, fly to Mexico.
10:28You're working on my next movie.
10:29I mean, just the, it was so cool.
10:31And played with family resemblance in a way that Michelle Visage couldn't bring out her little dagger.
10:36Yeah.
10:36I don't see it.
10:37You're, you're bride and groom.
10:38That's not family resemblance.
10:39But instead it was like incestuous.
10:41Yeah.
10:42Yeah.
10:42Yeah.
10:43Yeah.
10:43No, I thought this was so divine.
10:45This muted color palette, this monochromatic look, the way that they played, like you said, with the masculinity and the femininity.
10:51The little pasty bows that Bones had.
10:54Yes.
10:54Because, you know, Bones is the, presumably the groom in this.
10:57Yeah.
10:58But definitely still gender bending, tiny little skinny mustache.
11:02Uh, it was so good.
11:04And Blood looked amazing.
11:06Her drag name that she chose is Blood.
11:09Bones and Blood.
11:10So great.
11:11But she looked amazing.
11:13She was kind of giving, like, Death Becomes or, like, Jennifer Simard in, like, the red, like, wig with, like, that silhouette.
11:20Like, I saw her come out and I was like, oh, it's just so regal and just so, so amazing.
11:25And Charlotte's ta-tas.
11:27Yes!
11:28I mean, this is who you want to be in a gothic bride look, you know?
11:32Yeah.
11:32It was so amazing.
11:33I loved that.
11:34And then we had another really stellar look.
11:37We had Select's Addiction and Saduck's Addiction.
11:40Um, this was this gold feathered look.
11:44I mean, this, uh, this hun specifically, um, well, this was, this was, uh, Shabda.
11:49Shabda, you know, who was talking about, you know, her, her physical appearance so much.
11:53She looked gorgeous.
11:55Insane.
11:55Literally looked like a drag queen.
11:57Was painted.
11:57That's one thing about Celexa.
11:59She can paint a girl down.
12:01And she absolutely transformed her in this.
12:04And, you know, the gold feathers and the teal.
12:05I feel like we're seeing a drag trend right now with the gold and the teal.
12:09We're seeing a lot of it.
12:10We saw a lot of it with Slade and Royale.
12:12Yeah.
12:12Gold and teal are these two colors that just pop.
12:14I mean, we had that look last week with Bonnie.
12:16Rue was wearing gold on the runway this week.
12:19Like, it's the season of gold, apparently, at least in Drag Race.
12:22And then we had Tayris and Daenerys.
12:25They did this very fun, very iconic look from Clueless.
12:29You know, Dion and Cher.
12:32What did you think?
12:32I mean, Tayris looked like the actress.
12:35Yes.
12:36Like, it's just stunning.
12:37You can't not do this.
12:38If you have the goods, it's, it's like, yeah, maybe it's a little easy, but it's like,
12:43yeah, if you can, if you can look like Clueless.
12:46Yeah.
12:46I do think that her hun, the face, the makeup was so white that she did, you know, it needed
12:53some softening.
12:54Yeah.
12:55Yeah.
12:55And I think this is.
12:56Our Cher, not our Cher.
12:58No.
12:58Our, you know, Alicia Silverstone in this moment was a little, uh, needed a little blending
13:03or something.
13:04Yeah.
13:04Give her a little contour or something.
13:06Um, I think this is definitely where, like, the Michelle comment came in of, like, they
13:09look more like a duo than, like, uh, family members, which, okay, yes, but they're, they're
13:14one of the most iconic duos.
13:15And aren't those two characters basically sisters in the movie?
13:18Yeah.
13:18Like, what are we saying at this point?
13:20And it's like, you know, if you're going to do a look like that, they did it correct.
13:23It did not look like a costume.
13:24It looked, you know, like an actual piece of wardrobe from the set.
13:27So I didn't have a problem with it.
13:30I think it could have been a lot worse.
13:31Um, and then our last one we had was Bonnie and Clyde and Mary Ann Joseph.
13:35What, what, what a fun name, fun name, rough execution.
13:40They should have said a few more prayers before going on the runway for this one.
13:44Yeah, this was, they were going for, like, this masculine feminine split look.
13:49And, um, it was giving, like, Cruella DeVille meets, like, Flapper meets Bank Robber.
13:57Yeah, a little Chicago.
13:58Like, what?
13:59But I, there was a little two-face.
14:01Yeah.
14:02And, you know, one of the comments they made in critiques was, uh, the, the looks were too
14:06similar in color.
14:07So you were losing a lot in that.
14:10I know.
14:11I wanted to give Bonnie and Clyde a little credit because she did have to size up the
14:16wardrobe that she had pre-made.
14:18You know, so she's, she's adding fabric.
14:20But I don't think her look stole the show either.
14:22No.
14:23You know, it just kind of, you know, it, it's such a fun idea.
14:27It's just hard to pull off.
14:28I mean, even, I don't know.
14:30I kind of hate a tiny hat.
14:31Nah.
14:32A tiny hat's a joke to me.
14:33And Bonnie is our comedy queen.
14:35And, but there's something about a tiny hat that just tells, screams like Kristen Wiig
14:39on SNL, like, and underneath the tiny hat, another tiny hat, you know, it's, so it was
14:44sort of, I just couldn't stop looking at the tiny hat.
14:46Yeah.
14:47It's really hard because so many of these girls are such talented makeup artists and
14:50like Bonnie makeup, I wouldn't say is her strong suit, at least, you know, being able
14:55to put that on another person.
14:56So they did critique, you know, her Hun's makeup a little bit, which it's hard.
15:02Like I said, you have all these great looks.
15:04It's like someone who is, it's still passable.
15:07We've seen much worse makeover challenges in past seasons.
15:11It gets to a point where it's like, okay, we got to split hairs and think about who.
15:15But Bonnie and Clyde and Mary and Joseph killed it in the performance.
15:18Yes.
15:19I mean, it did look like they were doing a Chicago inspired, you know, with the money
15:25gun and the machine guns and the bag of money.
15:27I mean, I did, I did think they sold it.
15:29Yes.
15:29Our theater girl gave us full camp and a full storyline, which I really loved.
15:34So we ended up finding out that Bones was the winner, which I mean, like, come on, put
15:40these outfits in a museum.
15:41Like these girls looked amazing.
15:43So that means that Bones does join the two badge club along with Bonnie and Elle.
15:48But that meant that our bottom this week were Bonnie and Clyde and Katrin Feelings, our
15:53two camp comedy Celtic queens.
15:56Yes.
15:57They were talking about the Celtic Alliance is now, you know, the Celtic Sea being between
16:01Ireland and Wales.
16:03Yeah.
16:03And so there's, there's Elle, Katrin and Bonnie.
16:06And so they're like, the Celtic Alliance is now crumbling.
16:10It was really hard, but we had to see these two girls go up in a lip sync.
16:14They did Push the Button by the Sugar Babes.
16:17I had never heard of this song before.
16:18I was, I'm really glad that it wasn't like a full pop song because these are our, like
16:22I said, our campy queens.
16:24And I wanted to see something that like.
16:25Immediately a button was taken out of a bra and one of those like, that was easy.
16:31Yeah, the staples, that was easy button, 100%.
16:33So we immediately got gimmicks off the top.
16:37You know, it was, it was really difficult because Katrin was really selling it.
16:41I think, you know, she was given the camp.
16:43She did a little elevator moment where she was, you know, lowering down.
16:47I mean, Katrin is a pantomime queen, you know, the whole thing is schtick, schtick, schtick.
16:52Yeah.
16:52But, you know, Bonnie.
16:53Bonnie was dancing a lot.
16:54Yeah.
16:55Bonnie was doing more dancing.
16:56And I think Katrin was giving more of a comedy routine.
16:59It really was anyone's, you know, win at this point.
17:02Yeah.
17:03And I was thinking I would have given it to Bonnie because she has two repeater badges.
17:09That's what I would thought.
17:10That's not what happened.
17:12No.
17:12Isn't that insane?
17:14It's so crazy that Bonnie had to go home.
17:18Again, this is the second week in a row where we have gone from a win to eliminated.
17:23And it's like, like you said, she was in the two badge club.
17:25I hope her first call was to page three.
17:28Girl!
17:29You think you were robbed?
17:30Yeah.
17:30It is wild.
17:31Like you said, I don't want to say that the repeater badges don't matter, but it's like,
17:36they're definitely not a safety net.
17:37They're definitely not looking at those badges to be like, well, you might have done bad this week,
17:42but, you know, you did good two weeks prior.
17:44Like, no, those are merely an accessory that you're wearing.
17:47This season has really been just topsy-turvy, upside down.
17:51The rules are thrown out the window.
17:54The rules as we know it, you know?
17:56Yeah.
17:56So, I mean, it's crazy.
17:58Like you said, another powerhouse has left.
18:01Bonnie is unfortunately not there anymore.
18:03It's good news for Katrin and good news for us.
18:05Yes.
18:06Because we get to talk to Bonnie and Clyde.
18:08Yes.
18:08Yes.
18:09Yes.
18:09It's always a bittersweet with these eliminations, but we know that something fun is coming.
18:14So, yeah.
18:15We're going to go talk to Bonnie.
18:16So, that will be right now.
18:17So, stay tuned.
18:18We will see you next week for episode nine, and let's go talk to Bonnie.
18:24So, we are chatting with the queen who brought razor-sharp comedy, big acting chops, and two
18:29maxi-challenge wins to Drag Race UK season seven, Bonnie and Clyde.
18:34Hi, babe.
18:35How are you?
18:36Hi.
18:36What's the crap?
18:36How are you doing?
18:37You well?
18:37I'm good.
18:38I'm good.
18:39Okay.
18:39I got to know.
18:40So, you made history as the first queen from the Republic of Ireland to compete on any
18:44Drag Race franchise.
18:45What did that mean for you personally, and, like, what kind of reaction have you gotten
18:49from Irish fans or queer communities back home?
18:53It's crazy.
18:54Like, it's a lot of pressure, I think, to represent for an entire country, especially because
18:58it's been underrepresented on the Drag Race stage, I think, globally.
19:03But Ireland is just full of so many talented and unique and, like, really, like, strong individual
19:10drag queens because the scene is a lot smaller.
19:12There's a lot more that they've got to work for.
19:14And to be the first one from the Republic, it's an honour.
19:19And I just was very aware that I was representing for everyone while I was there.
19:23So, I was very determined to do a good job of it.
19:26And I think the response has been overwhelmingly positive.
19:29I think people are finally happy to see a Republic of Ireland queen on the show.
19:33And I'm just very fortunate that I did a good job while I was there because there'd
19:38be nothing worse than me being, like, I was the first one.
19:40And I also went home first.
19:42So, let's never have a drag queen from the Republic of Ireland again.
19:45Well, you absolutely did a good job.
19:47As I mentioned, you won two maxi challenges, the acting challenge in episode four, snatch
19:52game episode seven.
19:53What was it like getting to showcase both your acting skills and your comedy instincts on
19:58that stage?
19:58It was great.
20:00Like, those were the two challenges I went into beforehand, being like, okay, I'm going
20:03to manifest.
20:04If I'm going to win two challenges, I want to win the acting because I'm a little theatre
20:08kid at heart.
20:09And I wanted to win the snatch game because who doesn't want to win the snatch game?
20:12And I was really, I was just really fortunate that I got, like, in the acting challenge,
20:15I landed the role that I wanted.
20:17And it was, it was in one of the, I think, the best script of the bunch.
20:20And I had a really strong duo to act with.
20:24And then in snatch game, it was just, it was, I was in the right headspace on the day.
20:28They really wanted to volley.
20:30And then I just, it was kind of like I struck gold with the character a little bit, like
20:33Rue really loves Cher and really loves puns.
20:36So Cher was kind of, ended up being perfect.
20:39It could have been an absolute disaster.
20:41And it just worked for whatever reason.
20:44So, yeah, we're extremely grateful that those two are the challenges that I got under my
20:49bag, and I've got the badges hung up at home.
20:52And I'm just, yeah, it's great.
20:53It's great to have gone into the process and come back out of it feeling validated based
20:57on performance.
20:58Those are absolutely two of the biggest ones across any franchise, you know, that people
21:03want.
21:03So the fact that you were able to snatch both of those is so incredible.
21:06For the acting challenge, your ab fab look was such a deep cut, and we absolutely lived
21:11for it on the show.
21:12Were you always an ab fab fan with that look?
21:15Like, was it burned into your memory?
21:17Did you, like, dig through references?
21:19How did that one come to be?
21:20Yeah, so to be honest, like, I've always had ab fab there in the back of my brain, but
21:24I've never been, like, a major fan of the show.
21:26Like, I've never sat down and really watched many loads and loads of episodes.
21:29It's been on the TV.
21:30It's always been, like, in the back of my mind growing up as a reference.
21:34And the characters of Patsy and Adina, like, they're always there, you know.
21:38But when we got the brief and it was like, we're doing an ab fab runway, I was like,
21:41hey, let me have a look.
21:42I don't just want to do, like, the suit or, like, whatever.
21:44I want to see what's there.
21:46And I was doing a little clicky-click on Google Images and going through, spent a while looking.
21:50And I saw that and I was just like, that is drag.
21:53And I wanted to really make sure that I was doing, like, a proper replica of something
21:59rather than, like, a take on something.
22:00Especially because I didn't feel like I necessarily had the reference point as not being, like,
22:06a super mega fan of ab fab.
22:08So I was like, if I'm going to do it, I want to do it exactly as it was on the show.
22:12And I want to make sure it's something that's really funny.
22:14But also something that I would potentially wear as well in my own drag.
22:18And I was like, you know what?
22:18I would wear that.
22:20And again, it was one of those moments that just struck gold because I turned the corner
22:25and I did the Thursday and RuPaul just started clapping.
22:27And you're like, oh, okay.
22:29She's really into this.
22:30And again, it's, like, it was a great choice.
22:32But, like, it was also just pure coincidence that she knows the reference.
22:36She loves it.
22:36She thought it was hilarious.
22:37And, like, it just sealed the deal, I think, that week for getting the win.
22:40So, yeah, again, just very, very fortunate and very lucky.
22:44We saw it in that challenge.
22:46I mean, your sense of humor feels so specific and so smart.
22:49Like, who do you find to be comedy inspirations in your drag?
22:54It's, like, the old, like, funny ladies of, like, of years past and stuff.
22:59So, like, Lucille Ball and Carol Channing.
23:02And there's so many, like, people, like, that I've just pulled inspiration from over the years.
23:11Like, I find my drag is very rooted in, like, references.
23:15But especially, like, old-time references and stuff.
23:18Like, I just love that sense of humor.
23:21I think it's just very funny.
23:22And I think it translates really well into drag.
23:24So, I guess, like, just funny ladies, I think.
23:27And, like, the icons and stuff like Barbra Streisand and even, like, modern ones like Lady Gaga and stuff like that.
23:33They're all just, like, super, like, good references for me for my drag.
23:37So, yeah, all those gals.
23:39You know, just a casual list of icons, casual list of names.
23:43We already mentioned it a little bit, but we've got to talk about the moment.
23:46Cher.
23:47I mean, you know, you kind of touched on the fact that, you know, Rue is a big Cher fan.
23:51But, like, how did you approach playing her when we have queens like Chad Michaels who have already set such a high bar for, like, traditional Cher impersonations?
24:00Well, this is it.
24:01I think Cher is, like, a symptom of the fact that Snatch Game has been going on for so long.
24:07And we've seen so many, like, really well done Snatch Games before.
24:12And I think when I went into it, I was like, I want to do something that RuPaul knows, but is also ridiculous and stupid.
24:19But it has a touch of, like, it's classic as well.
24:24And we've seen people in the past win with doing characters again.
24:28But I didn't want to just go in and do, like, a Cher impersonation because we've seen it already.
24:32And I was very aware that, like, I would get red if I just came in and did a subpar thing.
24:38And so that kind of just, that was the reasoning for really wanting to do it.
24:43But, like, it just, it originated just for me and my Irish accent and doing my Cher impersonation and just going too hard.
24:48And it sounded like Cher and being like, that's okay, that's funny.
24:51And then, oh, there's actually another pun here with her song.
24:54And, oh, she said that one time.
24:56And that also works if she was a Cher.
24:57And then it was just, like, it was a slow build of, like, getting that Rolodex up of all of these references to furniture and Cher.
25:05And it's really, like, cerebral and, like, messed up a little bit that I've come up with this concept.
25:10But, and for whatever reason, it just works.
25:13And, yeah, it was, it was a moment in time.
25:17A moment in time, indeed.
25:18It will live in the Snatch Game pantheon of iconic performances.
25:23In the same episode, RuPaul praised your holiday ho-ho-ho's runway look.
25:27What was it like receiving that, like, direct sort of praise?
25:30And have you passed on the designer's info to Ru yet?
25:33Because I feel like she wants that dress very badly.
25:36Listen, I was so tempted this episode to just be like, I'll give you the dress if you let me stay.
25:41You can have the Christmas dress, Ru.
25:43Because she, she gave me praise again the next day at the walkthrough.
25:47And I wasn't, like, it was just out of the blue was the first thing she said.
25:49She was like, bitch, you look so good.
25:52And I was like, thank you, mother.
25:55But I did, on the runway, we, like, we talked for so long on the runway during the critiques.
26:00And there's a lot more back and forth with Ru and the judges that you obviously don't get to see just for time.
26:05And she, she asked who the designer was.
26:06And it was by a drag queen in Cork in Ireland called Mia Gold.
26:10And, like, we did that outfit.
26:12She was based in Cork.
26:12I didn't have a fitting for that.
26:14I gave her my measurements and she, she had it on herself.
26:16And we're, we're a similar body type.
26:18And it obviously looked great on her.
26:19But then it just fit me like a glove.
26:21And I was like, this is, there was a few outfits as well.
26:24I got my hometown look done by a designer in Waterford in Ireland called Ryan Wall.
26:29And, again, it was the corset St. Patrick's look that also had, we didn't have a fitting for that either.
26:34And it was just like, it just fit.
26:36And I was very, very fortunate.
26:37And these people in Ireland are so talented.
26:39And I'm sorry, I should have gone to more designers in Ireland, to be honest.
26:42I mean, when it works, it works.
26:46At the time of your elimination, you were tied for the most wins in the cast.
26:50Truly a frontrunner.
26:51And this was also your first time ever in the bottom two.
26:54Like, how did you process that shift happening so late in the competition?
26:59Yeah, like, I had, I'd been doing a really good job up until that point.
27:02And when you prepare for the show, you obviously bring all your looks and stuff.
27:06And, unfortunately, this look, conceptually, I think, I went a little bit too hard in, like, what I wanted to do.
27:11And what I thought, like, this would be so cool on the runway.
27:14Kind of forgetting that the point of the makeover challenge is not to do something fresh and exciting and new.
27:19It's to just make someone over and have them have a good time in drag.
27:23And I think I just went too hard in that.
27:24And then I received the outfits.
27:26And I think they weren't up to kind of the standard of a lot of my other looks that I brought.
27:30But, unfortunately, I got them two days before we had to leave for the show.
27:32And I was like, there's not a lot I can do here.
27:34So I knew in my heart, I was like, when this challenge comes around,
27:38unless there's two other people that look absolutely dog next to me.
27:42Like, this is going to be my week that I have to lip sync.
27:45And I was just like, you know what?
27:47It is what it is.
27:48You make the most of it.
27:49And we, like, I brought all the props.
27:50We had a great performance on the runway.
27:51We enjoyed our time there.
27:53And then when it got down to the lip sync, I just made sure, like, I knew the words.
27:56And I knew what I wanted to do.
27:57And I just had a great time.
27:59Like, when those lights went off and the music started and your lip syncing in front of RuPaul,
28:03it's nerve-wracking.
28:04But I also had the best time doing it.
28:06And I was like, if they want me to stay, they want me to stay.
28:08If they don't, they don't.
28:09Like, if they wanted to keep me, I had two wins.
28:12They could have kept me, you know?
28:14So it's like, everything happens for a reason.
28:17And the universe puts you places.
28:18And at the end of it, I did such a good job that, like, I've won for myself.
28:23I don't need to, like, go on to the final and get the crown to prove that I've done the thing.
28:28Like, I've gone on Drag Race and I've done it, you know?
28:30Yeah.
28:30I mean, you've made your mark, unquestionably.
28:33I mean, and we even said when we were watching the episode, like, you guys looked as a duo.
28:37You had the most fun on stage.
28:39Like, y'all had the full performance.
28:41Y'all were, you know, you were giving it.
28:43And, like, that is also such a huge part of the makeover challenge is, you know,
28:46as the queen being able to make that, you know, makeover-ee feel comfortable and feel powerful.
28:52And, like, you absolutely did that, which is so special.
28:55I also want to talk about this beautiful little trio alliance between you, Elle, Katrin, you know, our Celtic girls.
29:04What was it like kind of having them and, you know, you all being frontrunners,
29:09you all being these, like, powerhouse representatives for your region?
29:14This is it, yeah.
29:16I think it just goes to show, like, that the Celts really do a great job at drag.
29:20And I think we have a little bit of an advantage because we haven't had the representation as much over the years,
29:28whereas I think a lot more of the English drag has been seen on the show already.
29:33So it's harder, I think, for those girls almost to break out of the mould and show that they're super unique
29:37when they're using a lot of their own cultural references.
29:40Whereas for us, we, like, our references haven't been seen as much.
29:44So it's easier for us to go on and say things and for our accents to be kind of perceived a little bit funnier, I guess.
29:50But it was also very true of the fact that the three of us are incredibly talented people
29:54and all kind of operate within, like, a similar vein of comedy
29:58and a similar kind of aesthetic style and stuff like that.
30:02Maybe not Katrin, but we all, like, we all just put our best foot forward, I think.
30:07And it was really nice to have a trio there, like, of us that we kind of, we all supported each other.
30:12And it didn't work out in the end, obviously, because one of them sent me home.
30:15But this is what happens when you form, like, close bonds with people
30:20and you want each other to do well.
30:22You can end up being in the bottom together, and it is what it is.
30:25You know, you'll always have each other is what I like to think.
30:30I mean, you had such a...
30:31I'll get you badges. I have those, too.
30:32Girl, make them into earrings. Like, what are we going to do?
30:34We have to, like, show them off.
30:37They're in a box. They're framed in my room, and they're right beside my makeup station.
30:41So whenever I get ready, I'm like, yes.
30:44Yes. Hmm. Yes.
30:46That's right. That's right.
30:47I see them glistening, glistening as I'm applying my powder.
30:50I mean, you had such an incredible run, challenge wins, iconic moments.
30:53Like, what's next for you?
30:55Like, what do you really hope to do, you know, post-Drag Race?
31:00With Drag Race, it's really just a springboard for the opportunities that you get afterwards.
31:04And what you do with your time on Drag Race is totally up to you.
31:08So I'm really eager to just work as much as possible.
31:11I want to do a bit of TV, and I want to do a bit of film.
31:14I really want to go on as many tours as I can and see the world and meet all the fans.
31:19And who knows, maybe one day we'll have a chair well tour, and we'll have a big moment.
31:25But there are some things in the works, and there's some announcements coming soon,
31:28which I think the fans are going to really enjoy and appreciate.
31:31And, yeah, it's time to do what we're about to do, and I think everyone's going to enjoy it.
