00:00It's Sally TM, and you can get your Drag Race fix on page six.
00:07Hi, I'm Jason.
00:08I'm Brian.
00:08And welcome back to Workroom Weekly.
00:10We're back talking all things RuPaul's Drag Race.
00:13Bangers and MASH.
00:15UK Season 7.
00:17Yum, yum.
00:18Oh my gosh, we're at episode six.
00:20We're more than halfway through the series.
00:22I'm really loving these girls.
00:24I find that, especially in this week's challenge,
00:27I was like, all of them are so talented.
00:30And they're very nice to each other.
00:32It's a very chummy group, which maybe is not the best for television.
00:36We need, I think, a villain, and we lost Viola, who's maybe our villain.
00:40Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:41And the chaotic nature of Nyong Bela.
00:44You know, the dynamic characters, I think, have left us,
00:49but there are still very talented girls left.
00:52Oh my gosh.
00:52And we have to get into this episode because it's the Ru-sicle!
00:56Live.
00:56Yes, Ru-sicle! Live!
00:58Are they really singing live?
00:59I was like, they're definitely speaking live.
01:01And they've got the, you know, little Britney microphones.
01:04But I was like, this is too good to be live.
01:07I'm skeptical.
01:08I'm a little suspicious.
01:09But before we even get into that,
01:11we got to talk about the top of the episode.
01:12So this was following Chai T. Grande's elimination.
01:16Very sad.
01:17Our Thai queen.
01:18And if you guys didn't catch,
01:19we actually released an interview with Chai,
01:22separate from last week's recap.
01:24So if you want to go watch that, it was so cute.
01:26We talked all things Slaysian Royale season two.
01:30And just like other stuff about like the show.
01:32So definitely like go check that out.
01:34But yeah.
01:35CTG was in the house.
01:36She was so precious.
01:37And maybe that won't be the last queen we talked to
01:39from this franchise.
01:41But it was following her elimination.
01:43And Celexa ended up going from the bottom in episode four
01:46to winning episode five.
01:47So it's really interesting because the badges are so spread out.
01:52We have a one badge for each girl.
01:54We have Celexa has a badge.
01:55Bonnie has a badge.
01:56Elle has a badge.
01:57Sally has a badge.
01:58Bones has a badge.
01:59So like it's anyone's game at this point.
02:02It's practically an equal playing field.
02:03It really is.
02:04And you know,
02:04there are some girls like Paige who like are still feeling a bit down.
02:08She doesn't feel like the judges are seeing her,
02:10you know,
02:10her true self.
02:11But I did love,
02:13she said if she had to lip sync in the words of Silky Nutmeg Ganache,
02:17she was ready to do so.
02:19And she ripped that wig off.
02:20If I would have lip synced for my mother life today, bitch,
02:24I was mother ready.
02:26I was ready to do so.
02:32I thought it was great.
02:33So that would have been a blonde wig reveal for the ages.
02:37Yes.
02:37And the next morning,
02:39Taris also says,
02:40you know,
02:41she is starved for a badge.
02:42And she said,
02:43all she's been eating so far is Welsh rabbit.
02:50A little bit of Katrin feelings.
02:53The showmance of the season.
02:55Yes.
02:56The girls said,
02:57you want to maybe stop focusing on finding love and maybe winning this competition.
03:01So a little bit of friendly shade from the girls.
03:04But yeah,
03:04we go into this week's maxi challenge,
03:06which is the Rusical.
03:07The girls are starring in a live musical production,
03:09of Peter Pansy.
03:12I mean,
03:12genius pun.
03:13You know,
03:13just when you think the puns,
03:15they've run out.
03:16No,
03:17Peter Pansy.
03:18It's so good.
03:19So Selexa won the last week's challenge.
03:21So she got to assign the roles.
03:23Pretty much everyone got the roles they wanted to,
03:26except for Taris.
03:27She ended up having to be a crook destroyer.
03:31But she ended up getting to work with,
03:33you know,
03:33her girlfriend,
03:34Katrin.
03:34And so was she really upset?
03:37You know,
03:37it could have been worse.
03:38I think.
03:38I was nervous about,
03:39you know,
03:40obviously a Rusical.
03:41They're not all musical theater queens.
03:42Page three has,
03:43you know,
03:44seven years of musical theater professional experience.
03:47You know,
03:47low key,
03:48we find out some of the queens are fantastic singers.
03:51Like,
03:51okay.
03:52I know.
03:53Okay.
03:53But like,
03:54I love this quote from Sally.
03:55I would rather shove rusty nails up my arse and shoot them out like ping pong balls than sing live.
04:02Period.
04:03And Sally TM is my girl.
04:04I was like,
04:05oh wait,
04:05you're that scared of karaoke?
04:07Yeah.
04:08Yeah.
04:08I mean,
04:08it's hard.
04:09Like you said,
04:09you have someone like Paige who literally was in Kiki Boots on the West End.
04:13You have,
04:14you know,
04:14people like Elle who are just like,
04:16we will get into that later.
04:18Voice of an angel.
04:18Voice of an angel.
04:19And pretty much everyone else is like middle of the road or bad.
04:24Like it's not,
04:25you know,
04:25you've got these two powerhouses.
04:26Yeah.
04:27And then everyone else just has to like use camp and wit to like,
04:30you know,
04:30edge up.
04:31But did you have like a favorite performance within the Rusical?
04:36I mean,
04:36I loved Elle and Bones' duet,
04:38you know?
04:39So Elle plays Wendy in the Peter Pansey musical and Bones' granny the dog,
04:44which I think is originally Nanny the dog.
04:46I can't remember.
04:47But I thought they both were,
04:48they were fighting over the love interest and it was just such a classic
04:51musical theater,
04:53you know,
04:54campy love song.
04:55I thought that duet like stole the show.
04:57Yeah.
04:57That,
04:58I mean,
04:58I'll give it to Paige also.
04:59That trio,
05:00that beginning trio of Paige,
05:02Bones and Elle,
05:03I thought was so strong.
05:05It was so captivating.
05:07And then we got to the other groups and I,
05:09you know,
05:09I did like Bonnie Ann Klein.
05:11She was partnered with Sally TM.
05:14She was good.
05:15I mean,
05:15she outacted Sally,
05:18which,
05:18you know,
05:19ended up being to her disadvantage ultimately.
05:21Did you clock the UK Hun callback?
05:23Yes!
05:24I loved it.
05:25I mean,
05:25we have,
05:26it's like the national anthem of Drag Race UK.
05:28Like,
05:28of course we're going to reference back to it.
05:30Bing bang bong.
05:30Bing bang bong,
05:31baby.
05:32The UK tons.
05:33But yeah,
05:34I think those,
05:35that beginning trio was definitely my favorite.
05:38And then we get into this runway,
05:40which I think ultimately separated the pack of people.
05:43So the theme was battle acts or warrior queen.
05:48I loved a lot of these outfits.
05:50I think this was a really strong category as a whole.
05:53Oh yeah.
05:53I felt like I was a little kid again,
05:55watching Xena warrior princess.
05:57Do you remember that show?
05:58If you've never seen Xena,
06:00the clips are available online.
06:02They are campy.
06:03They are lesbian realness.
06:05Yeah.
06:05To the extreme.
06:06This was very sexy to me.
06:08Very fun.
06:09I loved,
06:09you know,
06:10the sci-fi fantasy elements.
06:12I think the queens are really shining.
06:13Yeah.
06:14No,
06:14I got to give some specific shout outs.
06:16I loved Bones's outfit.
06:18It's like really like fur.
06:20It was so structured with like the hips and the shoulders.
06:23And like she had this amazing hair.
06:25I think a lot of,
06:26some of the girls were giving warrior,
06:28princess,
06:29but it was giving more costume.
06:30This was like couture,
06:32you know,
06:32this was couture honey.
06:34This could be in Dune.
06:34This could be in Mad Max,
06:35Star Wars.
06:36This was Hollywood level,
06:38you know,
06:39seamstress.
06:39And I think I loved,
06:40especially seeing it coming from Bones because,
06:42you know,
06:42she was given,
06:43well,
06:43she wasn't given the critique,
06:44but Paige was given the critique about showing too much body.
06:47And I think Bones is in that same camp where this week,
06:50Paige still showed body.
06:51Yeah.
06:51Last week Bones was just skin and bone.
06:54Yeah.
06:54She was literal Bones.
06:55And,
06:55you know,
06:55for her to come out in this very theatrical,
06:57like Broadway level costume was a great switch up.
07:01And then paired with her incredible,
07:02like performance in the musical.
07:04I think this was a really strong performance for Bones overall.
07:08Loved it.
07:08I mean,
07:08she's like,
07:09is there a dog character?
07:10My name is Bones.
07:10I will take that.
07:11I will take it.
07:12Other ones I loved.
07:14Elle Voss.
07:14We got to talk about this one.
07:15This like repurposed material,
07:17she said,
07:17but like the details in this,
07:19like the embellishments.
07:20It was an Irish designer too.
07:22You know,
07:22Elle is from Belfast,
07:24Northern Ireland.
07:24And,
07:25you know,
07:25she said that it was a reference to the last queen of Ireland.
07:29Yeah.
07:30Which is right.
07:31Am I,
07:31am I remembering that correctly?
07:32Maybe.
07:33I don't know.
07:33I just remember being gagged by this outfit.
07:35It was so gorgeous.
07:36Um,
07:37definitely was a steam stealer.
07:39I mean,
07:39my favorite was Sally TM.
07:41Really?
07:42I thought it was so just cool.
07:44Just visually stunning.
07:45Like,
07:45I don't know if,
07:47you know,
07:47she was a female pirate,
07:49right?
07:49Little,
07:49but,
07:50you know,
07:50I just thought the,
07:51the optical illusion with this,
07:53the,
07:53the whites,
07:55uh,
07:55you know,
07:55a sketch come to life,
07:57which is really cool.
07:58Yeah.
07:58I'm obviously,
07:59I've been in the bag for Sally since day one.
08:01I know.
08:02I know.
08:02It was,
08:03I liked it,
08:04but,
08:05it wasn't my favorite outfit.
08:07Not big enough.
08:08I don't know.
08:09I mean,
08:09it fits Sally's like aesthetic,
08:11but like when you see these outfits that are so intricate,
08:13like Bones and Elle,
08:15even Celexa,
08:16that like bronze outfit,
08:18she was wearing like 14 inch Gaga heels,
08:20like an 18 inch waist.
08:22It was,
08:22yeah.
08:22Like when you have those outfits,
08:24like back to back,
08:25it just kind of felt like Sally kind of fell to the back in terms of like this
08:29presentation as a whole.
08:30Sure.
08:30But like speaking of Sally,
08:31I thought it was really beautiful in the critiques.
08:33She gets this moment with Rue,
08:34where like,
08:35you know,
08:36Rue,
08:37she has her moments where she will give the girls flowers and like reassure them of their brilliance,
08:41but we don't see it as much.
08:43And for her to just plainly be like,
08:45Sally,
08:46you are so unique.
08:47You are so gifted.
08:48You're special.
08:49You're so special.
08:50To see this moment from Rue and to see the way that Sally absolutely appreciated and needed to hear that in this week,
08:57especially.
08:57We've got to take a look at this monologue because this actually brought me to tears and it brought Sally to tears. Take a look.
09:02Sally,
09:02you are something special.
09:04Because of your uniqueness.
09:12Because even in the Rue-sicle, the truth is you stood out.
09:18And sometimes in the wrong way.
09:22You are such a character.
09:24Thank you so much.
09:26It's the truth.
09:27It's the truth.
09:28It's really good.
09:30Like, you know,
09:30and like I said,
09:31I want to see more moments like this from Rue.
09:33And, you know,
09:34because these girls are,
09:35you know,
09:35we go through highs and lows.
09:36And like when the girls hit that low,
09:38they need Mama Rue to like be there to give them the reassurance.
09:42RuPaul did say this week,
09:44we are being nitpicky.
09:45Everyone looks fantastic on the runway.
09:47Everyone crushed the Rue-sicle.
09:49It's true.
09:49Like this is a really strong cast.
09:51I do think,
09:52you know,
09:54the season might be missing a little of the grit,
09:56a little of the wild cards,
09:57because everyone's so polished and good.
09:59Yeah.
09:59I mean,
10:00it was so good that we ended up having two winners.
10:02We had Elle Vosk ended up winning and Paige three,
10:05which was great.
10:07Elle's voice is so good.
10:09The minute she started singing,
10:11I was like,
10:11she won.
10:11She won.
10:12Like it's like an unfair advantage.
10:14Legally blonde.
10:15Like she just has this little beautiful little soprano.
10:19Yeah.
10:19We always talk about like these girls should go to Broadway.
10:21Elle needs to go to Broadway.
10:22She needs to go to the West End.
10:23Like this voice is incredible.
10:24And I'm glad that Paige ended up getting a win.
10:26Finally,
10:27she deserves it.
10:28She carried the show.
10:29She was the anchor.
10:30And,
10:30you know,
10:31the guest judge kept saying,
10:32you know,
10:32I felt safe with this person,
10:35which in musical theater,
10:36it's all about the cues.
10:38You can't miss,
10:38you can't drop a line.
10:40You can't be all about you.
10:41The whole company succeeds together.
10:44And I think Paige really carried the show.
10:46Yeah.
10:47I'm really happy for her.
10:48But that meant that our bottom this week was Taris and Sally.
10:53This is sad because they're both really strong performers.
10:57And like Ru said,
10:59they both,
10:59no one gave an objectively bad performance.
11:01This was very minute details of picking,
11:04you know,
11:04things apart.
11:06But the girls ended up getting to do a very,
11:08very fun song for their lips saying,
11:10don't rain on my parade.
11:12Are you kidding me?
11:14I hear Lea Michele calling.
11:15I hear Lea Michele calling.
11:16I was actually mad.
11:17They didn't do the Rachel Berry Glee version.
11:19Yeah.
11:19Yeah.
11:20Yeah.
11:20Come on,
11:20funny girl.
11:21Let's see it.
11:21Let's see it.
11:22This,
11:23I mean,
11:23this is just,
11:24it's a classic.
11:25It's a classic,
11:25like to see,
11:27you know,
11:27how these girls would interpret this.
11:30I mean,
11:30I can only imagine if like Katrin or Bonnie Anne were doing this,
11:33like would have sent it home.
11:35But I was very surprised.
11:37Taris,
11:38she emoted.
11:38This song is all about emoting and giving personality and camp.
11:42And I think Sally was,
11:44she was there,
11:45but Taris was edging out,
11:47at least in my vision.
11:49Yeah.
11:49Sally was,
11:50you know,
11:50I think also just struggled with just basic walking.
11:53Like she is such a looks queen and she's so creative,
11:56but like,
11:58you know,
11:58when you look back at the lip sync,
12:00it's just a lot of walking stage left,
12:02stage right,
12:03upstage,
12:03downstage.
12:04There wasn't a lot of,
12:05you know,
12:06finesse to the movement.
12:07And at the end of the day,
12:08like drag queens,
12:09they got a sissy that walk.
12:10They got a strut.
12:11Yeah.
12:12And you know,
12:12that's something that she's probably gonna have to work on,
12:14you know,
12:14going forward.
12:15Yeah.
12:16But it ultimately ended up being that Taris won and Sally did not.
12:23And that meant that your girl,
12:25unfortunately.
12:26I was putting Sally in the top four.
12:27I know.
12:27You said it last week.
12:28This is crazy.
12:29I know.
12:29I know.
12:30I just think she's so,
12:31you know,
12:31they all kept saying,
12:32I can't stop looking at her.
12:34She really does,
12:35you know,
12:35capture the eye so well.
12:38And her looks were so bonkers and unique.
12:40And,
12:40you know,
12:41the guest judge,
12:42I have to like pull this quote.
12:43I think she really nailed it.
12:45And unfortunately the results didn't match this,
12:48but she says,
12:49being wrong and strong is better than being right and shite.
12:52And I think like that sort of has the,
12:55you know,
12:56the Sally energy where it's like,
12:58we didn't understand a lot of her looks.
13:01Sometimes the visual was like two things smashed together,
13:04but like,
13:06I'd,
13:06I'd rather see that than someone who is,
13:08you know,
13:10right and shite.
13:11Yeah.
13:11And I'll just say that.
13:13I know.
13:14I know.
13:14I just,
13:15so I've,
13:16I said it before,
13:17you know,
13:17she has such a clear vision and every outfit that walked down that runway,
13:21we knew it was something that it could only be worn by Sally.
13:24And,
13:24you know,
13:24it fit into her larger world or universe of her drag.
13:29And I think that's so cool to see.
13:31There's absolutely more that we need to see from her.
13:34You know,
13:34it makes me want a UK all-stars that much more because like someone like Sally
13:39has absolutely gone too soon.
13:41And,
13:41you know,
13:42we need to see more.
13:43And,
13:43you know,
13:44Queens all over the UK are going to be calling her up for looks.
13:47Yeah.
13:47Are you kidding?
13:48Yeah.
13:48Absolutely.
13:48She's going to have a very lucrative career as a designer.
13:51Yeah.
13:51Not only are the Queens going to be calling her up,
13:53but we're actually going to be calling her up because we're going to be able to talk to Sally,
13:58you know,
13:59right after the elimination,
14:00we're going to talk about this episode.
14:02So we will,
14:03you know,
14:04be attaching that at the end of this episode.
14:06So stay tuned and let's go talk to Sally.
14:10We are joined today by the queen who stitch,
14:12sewed,
14:12and served her way through RuPaul's Drag Race UK season seven.
14:16It's Sally TM.
14:18Hi,
14:18Sally.
14:18Hi,
14:19you look gorgeous.
14:20You're coming to us today in this fabulous clown look.
14:23And I know you've shared on Instagram that you actually designed and made this yourself.
14:27Yes.
14:28And you've also shared in your meet the Queens that you think you're,
14:31you know,
14:31your strongest asset is sewing and making your own drag.
14:34Where did that passion come from?
14:37Well,
14:37I mean,
14:38episode two,
14:39I was talking about it.
14:40My,
14:40my grandma was able to teach me how to sew.
14:42And I,
14:43my passion for sewing comes from,
14:46it's just therapy.
14:47It's just therapy.
14:48It's like therapy.
14:49I think if you find a skill set that you enjoy,
14:53you should really stick to it.
14:54And,
14:55you know,
14:56mine just happened to be design.
14:57Like,
14:57I really enjoy design.
14:59Like,
14:59I mean,
14:59I used to work as a motion designer.
15:01I mean,
15:01I still do freelance,
15:03but I really enjoy the aspect of designing,
15:07creating wonderland looks,
15:09just really having fun with all the crayons in the crayon box.
15:13Drag's limitless.
15:14Do you know what I mean?
15:14You mentioned episode two,
15:17you know,
15:17the episode you won,
15:18the rumble and the jumble of eleganza challenge.
15:21Can you tell us a little bit about that,
15:22like winning look and,
15:24you know,
15:24how it came together,
15:25obviously.
15:25I,
15:26you know what,
15:26like I,
15:27we had so much fabric.
15:29We had so much unconventional materials.
15:31I,
15:32I was really gravitating towards,
15:34because Chai and I,
15:35obviously we had to share the table.
15:37And Chai really enjoyed this like red,
15:39blue fabric.
15:40And she had a lot of like pillows as well.
15:44Let's sort of match the vibe.
15:45She was like,
15:45right,
15:45okay,
15:46I'm going to go with red.
15:47And then she pointed at this horrible green sequined fabric,
15:50which actually you saw on page three this week is Peter Pansy.
15:53And I literally looked at her and went,
15:56no.
15:56So I saw a lot of like polka dot.
16:00I saw the gingham.
16:01I saw the,
16:02because pink,
16:03pastel pink,
16:04yellow,
16:04and cyan will always go well together.
16:07CMYK.
16:08It's the printer.
16:09You know what I mean?
16:09Printer ink.
16:10So I was like,
16:11right,
16:11okay,
16:12this will go well together.
16:13And then I can do black,
16:14black and white.
16:14That's always going to be a great color combo.
16:16Okay.
16:17Like,
16:17and then I was in my head.
16:20I was like,
16:20Ooh,
16:21this is,
16:21is this going to be okay?
16:23Like,
16:24I don't think the judges are going to really enjoy this sort of like,
16:28you know,
16:29clashy of the patterns sort of thing,
16:31but then it all came together and they really like responded to it,
16:35which I was gagged by.
16:36Yeah,
16:36no,
16:37I mean,
16:37it was absolutely stunning.
16:38We were loving it.
16:39We were obsessed with it.
16:40Um,
16:41I also love fast forwarding to the talent show episode.
16:44You revealed on Instagram that,
16:45you know,
16:46you talked about how you worked as an animator and you've actually done like visuals for other drag queens and artists.
16:51How do you think your kind of work as an animator influences your drag?
16:55I really enjoyed animation as a kid.
16:58Like I used to watch a lot of cartoons.
17:00I like as a Saturday morning kid,
17:02like I would always get up really early to watch cartoons and,
17:05you know,
17:05like whatever we were doing,
17:07I would always make people late because I was obsessed with,
17:10you know,
17:11totally spies.
17:11I was obsessed with Pokemon.
17:13I was obsessed with anything that was really the current sort of like Y2K like shows that were on.
17:20Um,
17:20and for me being able to create a character within Sally TM,
17:25she was always like a character before the drag artists.
17:29Like I,
17:29I always drew her and I always drew her in extravagant costumes.
17:32And like my,
17:34my,
17:34my one,
17:35my favorite character that I've ever seen is from Shallon's showdown.
17:40And she's called Kimiko.
17:42Um,
17:42and Kimiko used to,
17:44every time they go to a different location,
17:46she would be in a different outfit,
17:47but it would still be Kimiko.
17:49And,
17:50um,
17:51I,
17:51I always see myself as the Kimiko of drag.
17:54Like I always sort of like really enjoy this idea of like being completely different every single time,
18:00but it's still Sally TM.
18:02Like you can kind of tell.
18:04Yeah.
18:04A hundred percent.
18:05If you got the chance to like design your own drag show,
18:08like I think of like Sasha Velour's like nightgowns,
18:11like what would your like dream,
18:13like stage production look like?
18:16I would like a huge stage and a huge screen behind me.
18:19I'd be so fierce.
18:20And it's like,
18:21I,
18:21I love the,
18:23the idea that Sasha Velour is a projection wizard.
18:27Like I love the projection mapping of her shows.
18:30Like I,
18:30I went to smoke mirrors,
18:32it's funny enough.
18:32I've literally got my smoke mirrors t-shirt with me today.
18:34Uh,
18:35just to remind me of my favorite ball diva.
18:38Um,
18:38next to RuPaul actually.
18:40No,
18:40um,
18:41so I,
18:43I,
18:43I watched her do the projection mapping of one of the shows.
18:46And she did this trick where she did like a magician's trick and stuff like that.
18:51And I would like,
18:52I would love to encourage like other people to kind of do that too.
18:55I would have like a full on like nightgown situation.
18:58And I really enjoyed the idea of championing different types of drag,
19:02different varieties of drag,
19:03local,
19:04regional,
19:04and then obviously real girl drag.
19:06And that's what I would love to do after drag race.
19:08I would love to have my own show where I just produce and like go on tour with this
19:12huge stage,
19:14like show of ideas and animation.
19:17And just like the,
19:18the love for the arts,
19:19like honestly,
19:20like I just think that,
19:21um,
19:22animation lends itself so perfectly to drag because the visual behind the artist is so important as well as what's in front.
19:30Well,
19:30when that show comes to life,
19:32we will be first in line.
19:33We will be front row there to support.
19:36Speaking of our favorite ball divas,
19:38uh,
19:38this episode,
19:39you and Ru had this very beautiful moment on the stage during critiques where she really praised you.
19:43And I,
19:44we talked about in our recap how,
19:45you know,
19:46Ru doesn't often like give flowers,
19:47but like for her to see like just plain spoken,
19:50be like,
19:50you are special.
19:51You are unique.
19:52Like,
19:52what did it mean to like hear that coming from her?
19:55You know,
19:56like I've had a very tumultuous drag journey.
19:58Um,
19:58I feel like,
19:59um,
20:00there was,
20:01there's been quite a lot of like twists and turns in my little drag journey.
20:04And I'm really grateful for the fact that the person who is probably the top professional in our,
20:10um,
20:10little industry of drag,
20:12um,
20:13gave me my,
20:14gave me my flowers.
20:15It was crazy.
20:16Like the fact that she was able to just honestly,
20:20like it,
20:21it was surreal.
20:22And obviously this is a show that's edited.
20:24Like you don't get to see everything.
20:25And that went on for a long time.
20:28I didn't think they were going to get on dyslexia at one point because they were just talking about how great I was.
20:33And it was like,
20:34for me to be able to go out with those comments is something that no one else could take away from me.
20:40Like not one person could be like,
20:41oh,
20:42she was horrible at the challenge.
20:44Mama RuPaul said I wasn't.
20:46Mama RuPaul said I was a star.
20:47That you were and that you are.
20:50Um,
20:50you also shared on Instagram today,
20:52this really beautiful,
20:53like heartfelt,
20:54uh,
20:54Instagram post kind of reflecting on your journey.
20:56You know,
20:57we know that you've auditioned seven times for the show.
21:00Like after seven auditions,
21:01a challenge win,
21:02a season full of creativity.
21:03Like what has been your proudest moment from your time on Drag Race?
21:07I mean,
21:08definitely winning a badge,
21:09like going home back home to South Shield being like,
21:15I won a challenge on Drag Race.
21:17Like not a lot of people could say that.
21:19Not a lot of people could say that.
21:20I mean,
21:21for me,
21:21I really wanted to be able to prove myself and be able to showcase to people that I actually do deserve to be there.
21:27And,
21:27you know,
21:27I think I did that fiercely.
21:30Yes,
21:30you did.
21:31You did.
21:32You are literally like one of our,
21:33favorite girls on the show.
21:34Like we literally were like,
21:36we were dreading this day.
21:37Like,
21:38I don't want this to happen.
21:39I literally said,
21:40I was like,
21:40you are the reason I want a UK all-stars.
21:42It's because like,
21:43we need to see more Sally,
21:44like literally get her on a global all-star somewhere.
21:46I just,
21:46I need you back on the screen.
21:48Like,
21:48are you in the capacity of like,
21:51you would revisit Drag Race ever down the line?
21:55I think if I take a few years,
21:57I would love to go back.
21:59It was like,
22:00I was so funny.
22:01I actually had hypertension before I went to Drag Race.
22:03And then I got to Drag Race.
22:05And then I'd stopped having hypertension.
22:07And I was like,
22:07oh,
22:08all I need to do is just have a holiday.
22:10And it was like,
22:11yes,
22:11it's a pressure cook environment,
22:12but man,
22:13I felt like I was on holiday.
22:14I really did.
22:15Then I got back.
22:16And then I was like,
22:16oh,
22:16I've got hypertension again.
22:17Gag.
22:19I really enjoyed it.
22:20I would absolutely love to do a global all-stars.
22:23Like,
22:23I would love to do that.
22:24Like to be,
22:25the thing is like,
22:27I remember obviously global all-stars,
22:29it's representing a country,
22:31one person from each country.
22:32And I would think that,
22:33yeah,
22:33I would absolutely represent a different side of it.
22:35You know,
22:36Kitty Scott Clothes was a great example of,
22:38um,
22:38what I would consider like,
22:40London drag.
22:41Really sort of like,
22:42fierce,
22:43gorgeous,
22:44um,
22:44embodiment of femininity.
22:46And like,
22:46you know,
22:47realism and camp.
22:50Whereas I like the complete opposite.
22:52I represent,
22:53uh,
22:53alternative,
22:54uh,
22:54very punk,
22:55very,
22:55like very high fashion,
22:57very avant-garde drag that,
22:59you know,
23:00not many people do represent in the UK.
23:01And I really would love to do that.
23:04Global all-stars if you're calling.
23:05Hey baby.
23:06Girl,
23:06we'll put in a good word.
23:07We will.
23:08We will.
23:08We're,
23:08we're campaigning for Sally.
23:10We're campaigning for Sally.
23:11I mean,
23:12um,
23:12you'd mentioned,
23:13you know,
23:13in some of your posts for this season,
23:15like Teresa May,
23:16you know,
23:16helped you a lot with,
23:17uh,
23:17kind of your journey.
23:18And like,
23:19was there any other like queens or like,
23:21maybe even like alternative queens that like,
23:23you know,
23:24you kind of look to,
23:25or,
23:25you know,
23:26got guidance for,
23:27you know,
23:27going into drag race.
23:29So I,
23:29I did.
23:30Um,
23:31I had,
23:32I've had a few conversations with a lot of like,
23:34cause I obviously,
23:35I really,
23:36I run in circles with like Joe Black.
23:39Um,
23:40I remember having a very long conversation with Joe Black about it.
23:42I remember having a long conversation with Charity Case about it.
23:45Um,
23:46and also Banksy as well.
23:48Um,
23:48I like,
23:49those are the girls that I would like compare myself to if I was to say,
23:55um,
23:55those are the girls who,
23:56um,
23:57really incite like,
23:58sort of like joy and the,
24:00the way that they represent their drag and their identity and their authenticity is,
24:05you know,
24:06very clear.
24:07Um,
24:07and like their journeys were very sort of like,
24:11they told me obviously Joe and Charity didn't really have the best time.
24:16Like they were like saying that they were like,
24:18there's like,
24:18Oh,
24:19alternative drag is not really welcome on drag race.
24:21And I was like,
24:21Oh,
24:21well,
24:22I,
24:23I want to go on it.
24:25I really want to be able to showcase what I've got.
24:28And I like,
24:28I kind of was like,
24:30I really hope like,
24:31I obviously I had that in the back of my head.
24:32I was like,
24:33Oh God,
24:33like,
24:33um,
24:34I hope RuPaul likes me.
24:35Like the only thing,
24:36like the surefire way I was like,
24:39I hope I just make her laugh.
24:41Like that's the one that like,
24:42I was just wanting so badly.
24:44I went in with little wins and I was like,
24:46right.
24:47Okay.
24:47Like,
24:48please.
24:49I just hope that they like me as an alternative drag artist.
24:51And,
24:52you know,
24:52I really,
24:53I'm so glad that I was able to like hit it out the park with,
24:58um,
24:59everything that I said,
25:00everything I did.
25:00I'm so glad that they really responded.
25:03I'm just so glad that a lot of people are responding positively to me.
25:07Absolutely.
25:07Like you said,
25:08whether it was,
25:09you know,
25:09acting,
25:10whether it was design,
25:11like your runways,
25:12like every time you would walk down the runway,
25:14we would be like,
25:15this is only something that could be worn by Sally.
25:17And you can like take the drag queen out of it.
25:19And you would know that Sally.
25:21And the fact that like,
25:22you can have that mark and have it,
25:24you know,
25:24done so effectively,
25:26so quickly on a show is just fantastic.
25:29So like,
25:30we absolutely adore you.
25:31What can fans expect next from Sally?
25:34More fashion,
25:35more,
25:35more animation.
25:36What are we getting touring?
25:38Oh,
25:38I hope I go on tour.
25:39That'd be so fun.
25:40I really want to travel the world.
25:41I like,
25:42I have a lot of friends in America and I really wanted to go to America.
25:45Um,
25:45I like,
25:46I would love to go to Italy.
25:48I'd love to go to France.
25:50I'd love to go to like,
25:51at all corners of the world.
25:52Like I really do.
25:53I really enjoy,
25:55like,
25:55I just enjoy it.
25:57Like I really do.
25:58Like drag is so fun.
25:59And like,
25:59to be able to like meet all these people who've been like,
26:02Oh,
26:02we love you.
26:03Come to this place.
26:04Oh,
26:04we love you.
26:04Come to this place.
26:05It would be fierce to do that.
26:08Yes.
26:08We need you to come to the U S you need to come to New York.
26:11We need to see you in Brooklyn.
26:12We need to meet the alternative girls here.
26:14They are doing it.
26:15Unlike anyone else.
26:17I know the Brooklynites would literally gag for a Sally TM show and we'll be there.
26:21We'll be there front row.
26:23I promise.
26:24Um,
26:24thank you so much,
26:25Sally.
26:25We adore you.
26:27We're going to keep following along and just thanks for everything.
