00:00It's like a Heath bar and a blonde day you had a baby.
00:02These are butter crunch bars.
00:03Start by browning 9 tablespoons of butter on medium-low,
00:06stirring constantly until it starts turning a nice amber color.
00:08Remove from heat and pour into a large mixing bowl.
00:10Whisk in some light brown and granulated sugar.
00:12This will help cool down your butter before we add the egg and vanilla.
00:14I wish I could smell this.
00:15In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt.
00:18Then add to your butter mixture, folding until you get a nice shaggy dough.
00:20Then the best part, toffee bits, and a lot of them.
00:22Fold in so every bite's got some crunch.
00:24Press into a parchment-lined 8x8 pan, making sure it's in one even layer.
00:27Cover and chill in the fridge for 45 minutes.
00:29Cover the top with a heavy sprinkling of toffee,
00:31and then bake it 350 just until the edges are golden and the middle looks set.
00:34Sprinkle with a little flaky salt and let it cool.
00:36On the edges, you can see where it's nice and crispy.
00:39Then you have that toffee and salt on the top and all that ooey gooey middle.
00:42Now that is a perfect bar.
00:44Mm-hmm.
00:46Every bite is crunchy.
00:47If you're looking for something new to try during the holidays this year, these are it.
