00:00PKR's Abdul Halim Sidaq Gulam Hassan has withdrawn from the Sabah state election.
00:07Abdul Halim Sidaq on Monday said he made the decision on his own and added that unity in
00:13Pakatan Harapan and its partners must be prioritised over personal ambition.
00:19He said the decision was made, without any coercion from anyone, and he had taken into
00:24account various considerations before stepping aside.
00:28He said coalition cohesion is essential for political stability in the state.
00:32Sabah PKR Chief Datuk Mustafa Sakmood said it was a responsible decision by Abdul Halim
00:39Sidaq to preserve coalition unity.
00:43Pakatan fielding a candidate in SILAM would go against the coalition's seat arrangement
00:47understanding with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah and Barisan National, which are also contesting
00:53the seat.
00:54With Abdul Halim Sidaq's withdrawal, SILAM will now see an eight-corner fight featuring,
00:59among others, GRS's Mizma Apehdullah, Barisan's Sharif Musa Sharif Mabul, and Warisan's Datuk
01:08Muhammad Yusuf Abdal.
01:10The SILAM seat, which was renamed from Lahat Datu, was won by Warisan's Dumi Mazdal in the
01:16last two elections in 2018 and 2020.
01:21Muhammad Yusuf was a one-term assemblyman in the then Lahat Datu constituency from 2013
01:27until 2018.
