Refugee Council CEO Enver Solomon has criticised the government’s planned reforms to the asylum and immigration system, saying Labour is “misguided” in claiming communities are being torn apart by small boat crossings. 00:08Well, communities are being torn apart not because of boat crossings.

00:12They're being torn apart because of the failing economy, because of the fact that public services have collapsed.

00:19And it's those things that they need to address, because that's how you create the glue, the bonds that bring communities and bring people back together.
