00:00She wouldn't, she wouldn't answer a phone call, she didn't want to.
00:13Rosemary, garlic, and barbecue.
00:25So if you don't mind me asking, where are you on this adoption?
00:29We're hoping by end of the year to put down the first $17,000 down payment.
00:35Yeah.
00:36We've got to come up with a total of 50.
00:59The goal keeps us going, we're focused on it.
01:04Despite the long nights and the frustration of not being where we want to be yet.
01:11We're working to save some money to adopt a baby and that is prohibitively expensive.
01:18So this is how we're just making that extra bit of money to put away towards that.
01:21Are they ready?
01:22Yeah.
01:23I have a lot of medical issues.
01:24I was born prematurely, so I cannot have children.
01:36We just, we knew that this was the path and the only way that we could become parents
01:41was through adoption.
01:43And why not give a child the life that they deserve?
01:47To me it's, there are people who, there's reasons why they have a harder time being a parent.
01:57And if I can give them a better chance, then I'd like to.
02:02Yeah.
02:03A third of the money you come up with yourself is by saving and donations and cash from family
02:10and friends.
02:11A third of it is going to be grants and then the remaining third is loans.
02:18This is typically how people pay for this.
02:23We're not just trying to figure it out by ourselves, which we have been doing.
02:29It's nice to see that there are people and professional resources who do this at affordable prices
02:37or like the case of the financial advisor, they're doing it for free.
02:43And then on top of that, having friends that have gone through the process themselves is,
02:49it's nice.
02:50There's no, you know, I don't feel like I've been hung out to dry to figure it out for myself.
02:56We've got people with experience behind us.
02:59And even if they haven't adopted before, just them stopping and talking to us and supporting
03:04us with their purchases or donations often, you know, it's a tangible and even emotional
03:12experience of support that they're willing to talk to strangers and even give them money,
03:19you know, to somebody they don't know.
03:23It really kind of helps us feel like we're not by ourselves.
03:27It feels less like an uphill battle because we've got support.
03:32I'm excited to pick up a cheap Power Wheels Jeep and put a bigger battery in it and a better motor
03:38so they can do some burnouts.
03:40And I'm looking forward to the, hey, don't tell your mother moments.
03:45So that kind of stuff keeps us keeps us going.
03:48As first time parents, we wanted to go through all the different stages.
03:52We want to start from the beginning and watch them grow.
03:57And I'm sure in the near future, if we want a second child, we'll at least already know
04:02the different stages and maybe we'll adopt an older child.
04:06Who knows?
04:07You know, and that's again another child that we get to give a better life.
