00:00Honestly, it's just disappointing, I feel for Dave Bowe, he's a great coach.
00:03Got to know him these last four years, and like I kind of said the other night,
00:09football's a great game, it's a brutal business, and so this is part of it.
00:14And you see it with teammates and great friends, while I was playing,
00:18they could get traded away or don't get signed back or go other places.
00:22And so, unfortunately, it's part of the business, but I know Dave Bowe will pop back up.
00:29He'll be coaching somewhere again, because he's a great coach,
00:33and just unfortunately he didn't work here with the Giants.
00:36There's so much talk about guarding this, you know, you obviously were a master at not taking it to start.
00:43What do you think he's playing? Can he adapt, or is that just part of his game?
00:48What should he do?
00:50I think he can adapt, and obviously he's learning that right now.
00:55It's easy to say, hey, you can't do something in the NFL, you can't run so much,
01:00until you kind of figure it out and learn that you can't do that.
01:04It's one thing being told, it's one thing learning the hard way, unfortunately,
01:07that this game is physical, and these guys are big, and the hits are a little bit more severe.
01:13So, unfortunately, you never want to see a guy get a concussion, but hopefully you can learn from this,
01:20get back healthy, get back out there, and just figure there's times to slide,
01:24there's times it goes down, there's ways to avoid taking some of the big hits.
01:28I don't know if he's trying to do whatever it is.
01:30I just didn't run like that.
01:31I didn't run.
01:32Most of his are on the run.
01:33They're not in the pocket.
01:34So, once you leave the pocket, you're not as protected, and the hits can actually get a little bit bigger.
01:40Eli, you've been around the Giants for a long time now.
01:43What do you think the ingredients are for a good Giants head coach?
01:47Tough to say, and they'll have to figure that out.
01:52I think it's coming to New York and being a first-time coach takes time.
01:58So, I think the guys that have been head coaches before, dealt with the media before,
02:03dealt with the ups and downs of the season, how to rally the troops when things are going tough,
02:08how to keep everybody hungry and focused when things are going well.
02:12So, it'll be interesting what their process is.
02:15How much time do you think is enough time for a coach?
02:20I don't know if there's an answer to that.
02:23I think it's just hard to do it in a couple of years.
02:29To get your players to get your style to learn everything you can learn.
02:33I think it's very similar to a young quarterback.
02:36You see a lot of guys, sometimes the first time they go through some struggles,
02:42sometimes it takes a few years for them to figure out.
02:46And not necessarily just to have one or two good seasons,
02:49it doesn't mean that they're going to be a great quarterback.
02:54It's just that each season is different in the NFL.
02:57It agrees who your quarterback is, how things are going.
03:00at least one going through a stick.
