00:00John Heyman reporting on day two from the GM meetings in Las Vegas, Nevada.

00:04A couple news and notes, nothing concrete yet.

00:06It's a little early for signings, although Edwin Diaz three years ago did re-sign back with the Mets

00:11on a record deal, a deal that worked out for both sides, particularly for the Mets.

00:16He was the best reliever in the National League this year.

00:18They are hoping to bring it back, and I do believe Diaz really enjoyed his time with the Mets,

00:23and I think they have a good chance to bring him back.

00:25They got a little bit of good news today.

00:27It does feel like, at least reading the tea leaves, that the Dodgers probably will not be going strongly for Diaz.

00:33We shall see.

00:34You never know in free agency what can happen.

00:36Dodgers clearly have the wherewithal to do whatever they want,

00:41but it feels right now that they're looking at a little bit lesser type in relief, perhaps, of Devin Williams.

00:47Athletic did report that the Dodgers do have their eye on Devin Williams.

00:51They did go after him a year ago, and the Yankees were able to acquire him for Caleb Durbin

00:56and Nestor Cortez, so a little bit of good news there for the Mets.

01:00The Mets also, we hear, not unexpected.

01:03We'll be looking at Cody Bellinger, a guy who fits them perfectly.

01:07Right now they have an opening in center field.

01:08They have an opening in first base, as we know.

01:11We'll see if they bring back Pete Alonso, who is the all-time home run champion for the Mets,

01:16and 38 homers, 126 RBIs.

01:19He had a great year.

01:20Doesn't have the qualifying offer, but certainly Cody Bellinger can play center field,

01:24can play the corner spots, a very versatile guy, and an outstanding offensive and defensive player.

01:29At a five-war, Jody can play in New York, and it will be interesting to see if the Mets are able

01:34to land another big outfielder from the Yankees.

01:37I know the Yankees won't be happy about it because Bellinger is their top target.

01:41They've got other things going on.

01:42They're looking at pitching.

01:43They're going to look at Emai.

01:45They're going to look at Giolito.

01:46They're probably going to look at some other starters.

01:48They're going to have to rebuild that pen with Devin Williams and Luke Weaver.

01:51Free agents, they've got to solve a little bit in center field, maybe at first base.

01:57Rice potentially could be the first baseman.

02:00They've got some potentials in center field, too, more so than the Mets,

02:03whether they move Dominguez over there or use Spencer Jones or Trent Grisham

02:07accepts the qualifying offer.

02:08So a lot of possibilities for the Yankees.

02:10I think they're in good position right now.

02:12Mets have a lot of work to do, but a little bit of good news for the Mets today

02:15as we think we heard, at least we believe we think,

02:20that Edwin Diaz probably is not a target of the Dodgers.
