00:00City switcher. After flopping in Bronx, Williams moving across town, ideally setting up Diaz.
00:07Great move at a great value for David Stearns. According to our John Heyman, it's a three-year,
00:12$51 million deal with some money deferred, and this shouldn't surprise anyone.
00:17David Stearns' MO and method to the madness is defense and the fortification of the bullpen.
00:23He's already traded for Marcus Simeon, and now they sign Williams, who has spent some time with
00:28the Stearns in Milwaukee. But here's the thing, you guys. I'm hoping that this isn't some sort of
00:33insurance policy if they can't or won't lock down Edwin Diaz to a long-term deal, but if they can get
00:40that done, just think of how great of a 1-2 pairing this could be at the back of the pen, especially
00:48with Williams losing his closer job twice in his confidence last season. In all fairness, I'll give
00:54him his props and give him the salute. He wasn't a bad setup man in front of David Bednar, so just
00:59think of what he can be in terms of a setup man for one of the best closers in baseball in Edwin
01:04Diaz. I think the kid can still play. I think it can still add value to the bullpen. I just think
01:10the lights were a little too bright for him up in the Bronx. He brought it on himself, getting the
01:15Yankees to switch up that whole no beard policy, because if you're going to come to this city and
01:20you're going to make some demands, you better have your stuff together. The airbender better
01:24be bended, but luckily for him, the president of baseball ops is your guy, and the lights
01:30aren't as bright and flushing yet. Want more Mets? Head on over to the newyorkpost.com slash sports.
