Search continues off Langkawi as Rohingya refugee boat deaths reach 11
The search for the missing people on a migrant boat which sank near the Thailand-Malaysia border off Langkawi continued on Monday, November 10, as authorities confirmed the death toll has reached 11.
About 70 people were believed to be on board the capsized vessel carrying members of Myanmar’s persecuted Rohingya community.
The status of another boat carrying 230 passengers remained unclear, Malaysian authorities said, adding that 13 survivors had been found so far, mostly Rohingya. Thai authorities said they had recovered four bodies, including two children, adding to the seven found by Malaysia's maritime agency.
