A fisherman said he was startled upon finding and rescuing a Rohingya refugee from the sea after a boat capsized off Pulau Langkawi.

Muhd Azham Azmi told Reuters that he spotted the woman, drifting motionless about two nautical miles from shore while he was out fishing around 6.50pm on Saturday (Nov 8).

01:32The authorities have said about 300 people boarded a vessel bound for Malaysia two weeks ago
01:40and were transferred onto two boats last Thursday.
01:44The smaller boat sank, while the fate of around 230 people on board the other vessel remained unclear.
01:51The death toll rose to 22 after two bodies were recovered on Wednesday morning,
01:56while 14 survivors have been found.
01:59The authorities are expected to continue search operations until Saturday.
