00:48authorities are concentrating their efforts in the north.
00:51Romli added that about 300 Myanmarese and Bangladeshi migrants, mostly Rohingya, were believed to
00:58have boarded a vessel before being transferred onto two boats.
01:02One of the boats, carrying about 70 people, is believed to have capsized near Tarutau Island,
01:08about two and a half nautical miles north of Langkawi.
01:12The other boat, reportedly carrying around 230 migrants, remains unaccounted for.
01:18Meanwhile, Langkawi District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Khairul Azhar Nuruddin said investigations
01:25are ongoing into a possible human smuggling syndicate behind the voyage.
01:30He said survivors revealed they had dealt with agents in Myanmar, and phone numbers obtained
01:35from the victims suggest the involvement of contacts in Malaysia.
