01:37Thank you very, very much. Enjoy yourself.
01:40Welcome, everybody. Welcome, welcome to The Tonight Show.
01:43This is it.
01:45That's it.
01:46Ah, you're here. Thank you for watching.
01:49Well, guys, President Trump has made yet another change
01:52to the White House.
01:53This time, he added a paper sign that says,
01:56The Oval Office, outside the Oval Office.
01:59This is real. Take a look.
02:01Ooh. There it is, yeah.
02:03The government may be closed, but at least Kinko's is up and running.
02:07You know, that's good to know.
02:11I mean, is that necessary?
02:14Joe Biden was like, even I didn't need a sign telling me what room I was in.
02:17In other news, Trump is now claiming that Thanksgiving food will be cheaper this year.
02:24However, the cost of a turkey is up 25 percent.
02:28People are like, these turkey prices are a pain in the neck.
02:31And Trump was like, please don't talk about my neck.
02:43Don't be shocked this year when he pardons his neck.
02:46Just saying.
02:47It'll be fun on Thanksgiving when Trump buys a chicken and does this.
02:50Yeah.
02:54Meanwhile, the longest government shutdown in history continues to drag on.
02:58And as a result, the Trump administration will cancel thousands of flights at busy airports.
03:04As of now, the best way to travel for Thanksgiving will be grabbing a Macy's balloon
03:08and hoping for wins.
03:10Take me home, SpongeBob!
03:13Some more news from Washington today.
03:15Nancy Pelosi announced that she won't seek re-election
03:18and plans on retiring in two years at the age of 86.
03:22Or as it's known in congressional terms, you're tweens.
03:27Chuck Schumer said that he'll miss having Pelosi around.
03:29And I believe him because they had such great chemistry.
03:36Well, some news from overseas is that King Charles has officially stripped his brother,
03:39Andrew, of the title of prince.
03:42Gets worse for Andrew because Charles has also decided to change the royal Netflix password.
03:46That's...
03:47Come on, Mike. Come on. Come on, love.
03:53Come on, governor. Come on.
03:55Come on. What are we doing here?
03:58Come on, Paul. Come on, John. What are we doing?
04:02You guys hear about this, uh, the big Dodge recall?
04:05It's not good. Yeah, watch this.
04:07Now to a recall alert. If you drive a Dodge Dart, listen up. Stellantis is recalling nearly 300,000
04:13of them over a shifter cable problem. What? Oh, man, I drive a Dodge Dart.
04:19Jesus, I'm sorry about that, Tariq. It's okay. At least I still have my Tesla. Oh.
04:26Oh, what? Roll the clip.
04:29Recall alert for you this morning. Tesla recalling more than 76,000
04:33electronic vehicles because of safety concerns.
04:37What? Yeah, that's not good, man.
04:41Man, how am I supposed to get to the grocery store? I was supposed to pick up my wife's
04:45favorite snack. Oh, yeah? What snack is that?
04:48Well, she really loves Twin Sisters Creamery batches of what come blue farmhouse peppercorn
04:53and mustard seed age raw milk cheese products. Twin Sisters Creamery is voluntarily recalling
04:58batches of what come blue farmhouse peppercorn and mustard seed age raw milk cheese products.
05:05Are you kidding me? I am so sorry, Tariq. It's fine. It's fine.
05:10I'll just buy her other favorite snack. Oh, yeah? What's that?
05:14One company's barbecue pork pulled or pulled pork sandwiches.
05:18One company is recalling its barbecue pork pulled or pulled pork sandwiches.
05:23Oh, come on. This is a bummer. This is a bummer.
05:27Wait. I know what to do. I'll buy her her favorite candy bars.
05:31That's so nice. What kind?
05:33Zingerman's Candy Manufactory
05:35Manufactory announced two products. Excuse me.
05:40Zingerman's Candy Manufactory
05:42Manufactory announced a recall of two products. Excuse me.
05:49I give up. All right. Well, you try. Tariq tried, everybody.
05:52Good man. He loves his wife.
05:59Well, get this. Authorities in Florida have warned
06:02that fake money made for movies has been found circulating around.
06:07Yeah, it's pretty obvious that it's fake. Take a look.
06:09Timothy Shallow book.
06:10Oh, that's...
06:11Then we got a change for Vin Diesel.
06:14Finally, I heard about a man who broke a world record
06:16by playing Dance Dance Revolution for 144 hours straight.
06:22Yeah, the record was for most brutal murder by a downstairs neighbor.
06:26We have a great show. Give it up for The Roots, ladies and gentlemen.
06:30Let's have it, Mr. Onassis.
06:32Drop top rips.
06:33My joints could go have this.
06:35Boy, spits and rips.
06:36It's so savage.
06:37Make MCC so belong.
06:42Hey!

07:34True time.
07:37Oh, and we got great music from one of my favorites,
07:40Young Miko!
07:46Young Miko.
07:48Guys, it's the end of the week, and that's usually when I catch up
07:50on some personal stuff.
07:52You know, I check my inbox, I return some emails,
07:54and of course, I send out thank you notes.
07:56Really?
07:57And I was running a bit behind today,
07:59so I thought if you guys wouldn't mind,
08:00I'd like to write out my weekly thank you notes right now.
08:03Is that okay?
08:06I appreciate this.
08:07James, do you have anything you could play some music
08:10just so I can hear something while I write my notes for this week,
08:13thanking different people and things of that sort?
08:19That's perfect.
08:20Wow.
08:21I think that's the perfect tune that I wanted to hear.
08:24That's a tune you wanted to hear when you...
08:26As I wrote out these thank you notes.
08:27That is...
08:28To persons and things.
08:29Yes, to persons and things and thanking different things
08:32to just get it out of the way for the end of the week.
08:34Yeah, state of gratitude.
08:35I'll give you an example.
08:39And again, I appreciate everyone letting me do this during airtime.
08:42Yeah, because there's not much airtime.
08:43What's that?
08:44There's not a lot of airtime.
08:45It's a fine airtime.
08:45That is correct.
08:46And then I had a very busy day today.
08:47I could have done this at my desk or whatever,
08:49or, you know, did it over the weekend,
08:51took the weekend, as you say.
08:51Sure, but you didn't.
08:52I didn't take the weekend.
08:53I'm going to do it right now, and I appreciate it again.
08:55Thanks for letting me do it for you.
09:04Because you could have written it before.
09:05You know what I mean?
09:06That is, like, yeah, like earlier.
09:08Like, I could have woke up earlier.
09:09Yeah.
09:10Instead of working out.
09:10I understand you didn't do it.
09:11Yeah.
09:12But you worked out, because you know why?
09:13Put your own oxygen mask on first.
09:15Take care of yourself.
09:16You know what I'm saying?
09:17That's correct.
09:17That's what they always say.
09:18Yeah, yeah.
09:19I'm proud of you.
09:20But I appreciate it.
09:21Yeah.
09:21I'm up to, like, 150 deadlift.
09:23Wow, 150.
09:26Wow!
09:27Yeah, kind of amazing.
09:28Wow.
09:29Pretty cool.
09:30It's 23 last week, so that's a big jump.
09:32Yeah.
09:33Well, I added a couple discs on the end, you know?
09:36Is that what they do?
09:37Yeah, I threw them on there and put a clamp just in case...
09:40You don't want them falling over.
09:41...one fell over.
09:42Yeah, look out.
09:43It's a concrete floor, but I don't want to just...
09:45You don't want it to bounce.
09:46I don't want to chip the disc or anything like that or get in any trouble.
09:49Then I'm stuck with whatever weight I put on the first one.
09:52Right, and if you chip that disc, then suddenly it's not 120.
09:55It's like 119 because you chipped a pound of lead off or whatever.
09:58Yeah.
09:58Well, again, we don't have time for this.
10:00No, we don't have time.
10:02But I appreciate your concern.
10:05My pleasure.
10:05Thanks, buddy.
10:07You're welcome.
10:12But your pen broke.
10:15No, no, the pen didn't break.
10:16No, it's good.
10:17It's working.
10:17Maybe get a new pen.
10:18Yeah.
10:18There you go.
10:22Thank you, Mulled Wine, for finally answering the question,
10:26what if we could drink potpourri?
10:32Thank you, no.
10:34I like the way that smells.
10:36Mmm, so fresh.
10:39Thank you, Mouthguard, for letting you know the precise moment when your wife
10:44believes the evening is over.
10:47Good night.
10:51Good night, honey.
10:51Yes.
10:52All right.
10:52There you go.
10:53Let's watch something on TV.
10:55Okay.
10:56Let's watch something on TV.
10:57Yeah.
10:58I'm going to hit that early.
10:59Yeah.
11:00All right.
11:00All right.
11:01Yeah.
11:01All right.
11:03I love you, too.
11:08Thank you, a shirt with snaps, for letting me feel like Magic Mike when I take you off.
11:21Thank you, Spice Racks, for being where all my bench players sit while Salt and Pepper
11:26play in the game.
11:30What's up?
11:33Next time.
11:33Oregano, man, yeah.
11:38Thank you, Jeans, for having zippers and basically saying,
11:41you know what's a smart thing to have next to my crotch?
11:44Metal teeth.
11:51Here we go.
11:52Is this the one?
11:53Is it?
11:57Thank you, side dishes, for making it sound like your turkey is cheating on you.
12:02There you have it, everybody.
12:03Those are our thank you notes.
12:05We'll be right back with Sarah Smoove!
12:16Explain this to me.
12:17What is a Tim Tam Slam?
12:18I have no idea.
12:19I've never done this.
12:19Don't even know what you're talking about.
12:21Yes.
12:22Tim Tams.
12:23They're so delicious.
12:24Have you tried one of these before?
12:25Never.
12:26They're so good.
12:37Our first guest is an Emmy and Tony-winning actress who executive,
12:41produce, and stars in the new series,
12:43All Her Fault, which is streaming now on Peacock.
12:46Please welcome Sarah Snook!
12:48Sarah Snook, welcome back to the show.
13:10I just want to congratulate you.
13:14Welcome back.
13:15Thanks for doing the show again.
13:16You won the Tony Award for The Picture of Gordon Green.
13:23You crushed it.
13:24Forever the intro has changed.
13:26Your intro has changed forever.
13:27Now you're a Tony Award winner, yeah.
13:29In that play, you played 26 different characters.
13:33How did you pull this off?
13:34I don't know.
13:35I don't know what I was thinking.
13:37A lot of good sleep, a lot of good amount of water,
13:40and not during the show.
13:41It was, like, barely any water during the show,
13:42though I needed it.
13:44Yeah, just during it.
13:45You were in the zone.
13:46Yeah, just...
13:47Here's you getting the Tony Award.
13:49And look who gave you the Tony Award, by the way.
13:51Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter.
13:54Yeah.
13:56Did you know they were going to be there?
13:59No, I mean, I wouldn't usually associate Keanu Reeves
14:01with, like, the theater.
14:02So, when I was stepping up, I'm like,
14:03am I in a fever dream?
14:04Is this...
14:05Like, they're doing Winning for Gordon.
14:06Yeah, I was like, am I in the Matrix?
14:08Yeah, exactly, yeah.
14:09I was watching at home, and I go,
14:11Keanu Reeves, and I go, I love Bill and Ted.
14:13Yeah.
14:13That's great, but what's going on?
14:15Yeah, the real crossover was great.
14:17So they're doing Broadway now.
14:18Yeah.
14:18So it was a little preview of that.
14:19Yeah, yeah.
14:19And I kind of just received it,
14:21and then later, he was walking offstage,
14:22and we sort of ran into each other.
14:24I was like, hello.
14:25Yeah, and nice to see you.
14:27Like, hello, sir.
14:27I'm a fan. Hello, sir.
14:29And then you got your portrait at Sardi's,
14:31which is, come on, that's an honor right there.
14:35That's an honor.
14:37It is.
14:39Yeah, I mean, it's an honor that I was like,
14:41really? Do they have enough room on the walls?
14:43There's so many portraits.
14:45Is there going to be space for me?
14:46Oh, come on. It's the greatest tradition.
14:48Do you have a portrait?
14:49Yeah.
14:50Of course you do. What am I saying?
14:51Of course you do.
14:52Of course I do, yeah.
14:53I really, really campaigned for it.
14:56I really...
14:57I did a bit, and I was on Broadway for about seven days, maybe.
15:01Oh, yeah.
15:02And I made a whole big deal of it.
15:03Yeah, from the first date.
15:04Before you even got there.
15:05Oh, yeah, I wasn't even there.
15:06I was like, I'm a Broadway actor.
15:08Yeah, yeah, exactly.
15:09And I was like, yeah.
15:10But I can't even imagine what you do and Broadway actors do
15:14and theater actors do.
15:14It's grueling.
15:16But I do respect it, and I love it.
15:19And I love the tradition of Sardi's and going there and celebrating.
15:23Usually after your show, you go to Sardi's.
15:24Yeah.
15:25All over the restaurant, there's portraits all over the walls.
15:28Yeah, they're all looking down on you,
15:29like this sort of hallowed space.
15:30Yeah, it's a special spot, yeah.
15:32Spooky.
15:33Then you have another picture here that I wanted to show
15:36and talk about it.
15:37It's you holding gifts from Dolly Parton.
15:40Now, now what? Dolly?
15:42I mean, you can see the shock on my face.
15:45I was really not expecting it.
15:47I was like, wait, who could this possibly be from?
15:49And then I pulled out the wine.
15:50I'm like, it's the actual Dolly Parton?
15:52Yes!
15:53Oh, my God!
15:54Are you a fan of Dolly?
15:55Yes, big fan.
15:56My friend Nick and I were jiving a lot to a lot of her songs
15:59before he was the hair guy for Dorian.
16:02And so we were always singing her songs.
16:04And so Shane, PR, was trying to get her to come to the show
16:07because she's doing her musical soon and thought,
16:08maybe she might be in town.
16:10She didn't come to the show, but she's so graceful.
16:12She's in all this makeup and jeans
16:15and a bottle of wine.
16:16And so we were like, we were ferreting through,
16:18kind of divvying it up.
16:19She is the one and only.
16:20She's so...
16:21Hopefully, you get to meet her.
16:22She's so nice.
16:23She's so, like...
16:24And funny.
16:25She's the queen and funny and talented.
16:26And a pro and know what she's doing.
16:28Everything.
16:29And she's nice.
16:29She's...
16:30You feel...
16:31I know it's the word of the month right now,
16:33but you feel the aura of Dolly Parton.
16:36Well, she's like a living goddess.
16:38She's like what you hope.
16:40And Dollywood?
16:41Yes.
16:42Have you been to Pigeon Forge?
16:43I've been to Pigeon Forge.
16:45I dance with Dolly Parton in Dollywood.
16:48Wow!
16:49That's just the coolest of all cool.
16:49Wow, that's a real bucket list thing.
16:50I know.
16:51Not many people could tick off.
16:52I know.
16:53The vibe is so great, though.
16:54You're just walking around, and you're like,
16:55it's so friendly and happy and peaceful,
16:58and there's butterflies.
16:59Oh, wow.
17:00It's like a Disney cartoon.
17:01Actual butterflies?
17:03No.
17:04Like, fake butterflies.
17:05It's great.
17:06Last time you were on the show,
17:07you were seven months pregnant with your daughter.
17:10So, basically, she was on the show.
17:12She was on the show.
17:12She could say she was on The Tonight Show.
17:14Yeah, yeah, yeah.
17:14How's she doing?
17:14She's good.
17:15She's two and a half now.
17:16No.
17:17Yeah.
17:17They grow up.
17:18Oh, yeah, I guess so.
17:19Do you watch her, um...
17:21Because those books that you wrote,
17:23her first word was data.
17:25It was?
17:26It worked!
17:26All right!
17:28My book works!
17:29Oh, my God.
17:30Yes.
17:31I carry it around with me just in case someone brings it up.
17:34It works.
17:36It's a five- to six-page book that I wrote myself.
17:39There it is.
17:40I've read it for so many times.
17:42It's very thin and, yeah.
17:44Yeah, I'm so...
17:45I mean, are you...
17:46It worked.
17:46It actually did work.
17:47Two and a half?
17:49Cute.
17:49It's the best thing.
17:50It just gets better and better.
17:51It's the greatest.
17:52Like, birthday parties, are you doing that?
17:54Like, with the big...
17:55Are you doing big...
17:55We haven't yet.
17:56She didn't...
17:57Request.
17:58We were here for her two-year-old...
17:59She's gonna know now when she sees this in the future.
18:01But when we were here for her two-year-old birthday, um...
18:04We didn't really do a big party.
18:06Good.
18:07We just took her to a toy store and said,
18:08You can pick something.
18:09Yes.
18:09She didn't know what was going on,
18:10but now she knows the song Happy Birthday,
18:12and she sees other people.
18:13We went to other parties now,
18:14and she's like, When's it gonna be me?
18:16Oh!
18:16So, her three-year-old will do her thing.
18:18We'll do a party.
18:19You told me that she said something to you before
18:22while you were doing your Broadway run.
18:24And it stuck with you, and I love it.
18:25Do you mind telling her?
18:26She was doing this, like, just jumping off a step.
18:29She goes,
18:29Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, I do a trick.
18:33And I thought that was just the cutest thing.
18:35Yes.
18:36So I started doing it for myself to, like,
18:38kind of get into the mindset before going on stage.
18:41Behind the curtain.
18:42Yeah, behind the curtain, so they'd be, like, places.
18:44Yeah, okay, and go.
18:45And I would step just shy of the curtain and go,
18:48Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, mama do a trick.
18:53That's good.
18:55I'm gonna... I'll never forget that.
18:57That's basically what you're doing.
18:58I'm gonna do my trick. Here we go.
19:00It was really centering.
19:01Yeah.
19:02Let's talk about your new show, All Her Fault.
19:04All eight episodes, by the way, begin streaming today
19:07on Peacock.
19:08Yes, out today.
19:08So binge.
19:09Binge it.
19:11It's great.
19:12How do we set it up for everybody?
19:14Oof.
19:15I mean, one thing I will say is, like, if you're a parent,
19:17it is, like, you just need to know.
19:19It's about a child who goes missing.
19:21Someone watched it, and they didn't know that that was what
19:23was happening, and they were, like, scratching the couch
19:25the entire time.
19:26Yeah.
19:27Childhood goes missing.
19:28My child.
19:29We open up the first scene, the first episode,
19:32with the revelation that my child has gone missing.
19:35And then everything that flows on from there
19:37and unravels from there.
19:37The family.
19:38It's a lot of family dynamics.
19:39Whose fault really is it?
19:41Yeah.
19:41It's a good thriller.
19:42It's a great thriller.
19:43Yeah, if you like that.
19:44I love that.
19:44That's what I'm into.
19:46I know you're from Australia.
19:48Yeah.
19:48And you brought me something that we're gonna do tonight.
19:51Yes.
19:52That I've never heard called the Tim Tam Slam.
19:54Yeah.
19:55Tim Tam Slam.
19:56Does someone know that?
19:57Any Australians from the audience?
19:58Yeah, someone...
19:59Wait, you guys know Tim Tam Slam?
20:01You do?
20:02Yeah, you know it.
20:03All right.
20:04Explain this to me.
20:05What is a Tim Tam Slam?
20:06I have no idea.
20:07I've never done this.
20:07Don't even know what you're talking about.
20:09Yes.
20:10Tim Tams.
20:11They're so delicious.
20:12Have you tried one of these before?
20:13Never.
20:14They're so good.
20:15So these are really an Australian biscuit.
20:17Um...
20:18I've never heard of Tim Tams.
20:19It's a chocolate cookie.
20:20Yeah, it's like a cookie.
20:24Oh, it's open already.
20:24It's a very crinkly bag.
20:25All right.
20:27All right, now how do we do the Tim Tam Slam?
20:28Okay, so take a Tim Tam.
20:29Okay.
20:30It smells great already.
20:32So this would be like a little cup of tea.
20:34You're trying to get cozy on the couch.
20:36Maybe a fire is on.
20:37Yes.
20:37Maybe some milk is in the tea usually.
20:39So you'd bite off one corner.
20:43And bite off diagonally opposite the other corner.
20:46I don't know.
20:49Are we just eating cookies together?
20:50And then you're eating...
20:51No.
20:52And then...
20:53Okay.
20:54And then you use it like a straw.
20:57So you dip it in.
20:59Ooh.
21:00That's ingenious.
21:01All right, wait.
21:05Just a little bit.
21:10Mm-hmm.
21:11Now bite it.
21:11Weird.
21:12It's totally working.
21:13And I'll bite it before it folds apart.
21:16It's totally soft and yummy.
21:17Really?
21:18Oh, my gosh.
21:19This is great.
21:20The Tim Tam Slam.
21:21So good.
21:22Game changer.
21:23Uh-huh.
21:24I'll never forget this as well.
21:25I'm putting it in my mouth.
21:26You're giving me some gifts tonight.
21:28I want to show everyone a clip.
21:29Here's Sarah Snook in All Her Fault.
21:31Take a look.
21:33You've reached Peter Irvine.
21:34Please leave a message.
21:36Peter, can you call me back right now, please?
21:38Right...
21:39Right now.
21:39That's your husband?
21:41Could he have picked up your son?
21:42Maybe forgetting to tell you.
21:44No, he, uh, he doesn't do that.
21:45It's, it's, it's a...
21:47It's her nanny or it's me,
21:48and he doesn't ever pick up Milo from school.
21:50Could your son still be at school?
21:52No.
21:53No, it's past five.
21:54School is closed.
21:55So there's no way he could still be there?
21:57No, they would have called me.
21:59If no one picked him up, they would have...
22:03So someone has picked him up?
22:09Who picked up my son from school?
22:11Whoa!
22:12Come on!
22:13Sarah Snook!
22:15All Her Fault is streaming now on Peacock.
22:17We'll be right back with Mikey Day.
22:19Stick around!
22:22Clap your hands, your hands, your clap.
22:24If I ask who you feel, a better answer back.
22:27I heard the story,
22:28and I want you to tell me if this is true or not.
22:29Uh-oh.
22:29Cuesta, I don't know, but you know the story.
22:31Do you know there was supposed to be another cameo in that sketch?
22:34No.
22:35And am I...
22:35You said no?
22:36Am I correct?
22:37Yeah, we originally had...
22:41Our next guest is an Emmy-winning writer and comedian
22:52who you know from Is It Cake?
22:54And his work on Saturday Night Live,
22:56which is all new this week with host Nikki Glaser
22:59and musical guest Somber.
23:00Everyone, please welcome Mikey Day!
23:03I'm going to be back with you
23:09That's the day that I want you to go
23:16I'm going to be back with you
23:23Thank you, baby!
23:38Thank you, baby!
23:39What a crowd!
23:40That's what we asked.
23:41Of course, that's how you entered.
23:42You guys felt obligated to stand.
23:44No!
23:45Thank you!
23:45You came out with the...
23:46That was so nice of you, man.
23:47You came out with the what, what, what entrance.
23:50That's a great entrance.
23:51What, what?
23:52What, what?
23:53Mikey Day!
23:53It's so great to see you.
23:55I always love having you on the show.
23:56Thank you for doing this because I know you're busy doing
23:58Saturday Night Live and taking some time out to do this.
24:01But I want to talk about Saturday Night Live,
24:03but I also want to talk about Is It Cake?
24:05Awesome.
24:06I think I heard one person go, woo!
24:09Yeah.
24:09We have everyone on Thursday nights whisper their woos.
24:12If there were a bunch of children here,
24:14they'd go insane.
24:15No.
24:16Everyone here knows it.
24:17You guys know Is It Cake?
24:20Just real...
24:21If you're going to woo, keep it...
24:23One guy went, yeah!
24:24Yeah, I know.
24:25Yeah!
24:25I know It's cake, man!
24:27It's crazy!
24:28Yeah, it's crazy.
24:29I like things cake, dude!
24:31But do kids love it?
24:34They come up to me.
24:35It's between the ages of 4 and 10, usually.
24:39This summer, I was with my family, a lovely dude ranch in California.
24:44We were swimming in the pool.
24:46I was with my son.
24:47And this kid, I think he was probably like 9.
24:51He sees me and I can tell.
24:52I'm like, I think he recognizes me.
24:54And he goes under the water and swims by us.
24:57And he comes up and goes,
25:00You look familiar.
25:02And then dives back under.
25:03Yeah.
25:04Then he comes up again and goes,
25:06I have a question for you.
25:07Is it cake?
25:10Goes back under.
25:11And then he goes, I can't believe you're staying here.
25:14What room are you in?
25:16I'm like...
25:19Because I think kid, I mean, he was adorable.
25:21I was a wonderful kid.
25:23I just, I think watching the show, he's like,
25:25Oh, I'm friends with this man.
25:28But I don't want to be in a resort pool going,
25:31Hey, little boy, my room number is...
25:33Yeah, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
25:35That's not a good, that's not a good thing.
25:37I forget.
25:39And he went, You forget what room number you're in?
25:43Anyway, at the end, he came up to me when we were leaving
25:47and said, My mom wants me to tell you
25:50that we are not a creepy family.
25:54So it worked out.
25:55Yeah, yeah, yeah, all right.
25:56At least you didn't know, yeah.
25:57Yeah.
25:58Can I really talk about how much I am a fan of yours
26:01and some of the sketches that you've written
26:03on Saturday Night Live that people might recognize?
26:05You write it with your writing partner, Streeter.
26:07Streeter Seidel, yes.
26:08Streeter Seidel is one of the funniest dudes, man.
26:11You guys together.
26:12I could just hang out with you guys forever.
26:14But, uh...
26:14Aw.
26:15Aw.
26:17But, uh, let me just...
26:18One, David S. Pumpkins with Tom Hanks.
26:20Yeah, that was a while ago now.
26:21Over a decade ago.
26:23Yeah, there's David S. Pumpkins.
26:24You guys remember David S. Pumpkins?
26:25Wow.
26:26All right.
26:27Okay.
26:28Now we're up to about 30.
26:30Uh...
26:32Beavis and Butthead with Ryan Gosling.
26:33Yeah, that was great.
26:34There we go.
26:35Now we're talking.
26:36Now we're talking some stuff.
26:37With my prince.
26:39My prince, Ryan Gosling.
26:41Even as Beavis, he's beautiful.
26:43He is a good lucky man.
26:44He's a beautiful man.
26:45But this one, I got to say, kind of took on another level.
26:49The Close Encounters sketch.
26:51Yeah.
26:52He's got Woody Harrelson.
26:55You have Pedro Pascal.
26:57Jon Hamm.
26:57Jon Hamm was in it.
26:58Meryl Streep.
26:59And Meryl Streep.
27:02Dude.
27:03Talk to me.
27:04Giving the script to Meryl Streep, and it's like,
27:07well, my coot-coot and my toot-toot is hanging out.
27:10You're like...
27:11But she, like, took it seriously.
27:13She was like, yeah, I think I got a read on the character.
27:17We're like, you can do whatever you want.
27:19Just kind of sit like this and be like this.
27:21She crushed it live at night.
27:24But then I heard the story, and I want you to tell me
27:26if this is true or not.
27:27Cuesta, I don't know if you know the story.
27:29Do you know there was supposed to be another cameo
27:30in that sketch?
27:31No.
27:32Am I correct?
27:34Yeah, we originally had Steven Spielberg in it,
27:37who's awesome.
27:38Everyone loves Steven Spielberg.
27:40I love this man so much.
27:41He's so important to me and so many people.
27:45So we had Steven Spielberg come in at the end of the sketch
27:49and say, hey, playing himself.
27:52He's like, hey, I have experience in this subject matter,
27:56and I'd like to make a movie based on your life.
27:58Close Encounters, yeah.
27:59Exactly.
28:00So we put him in it.
28:02He comes and rehearses it, which was awesome.
28:04He's a lovely, lovely man.
28:07And then they're like, to everybody who had sketches
28:10in the 50th anniversary show, they're like,
28:11we are long.
28:12You have to cut, like, minutes out of your sketches.
28:15And we're like, I think we have to cut Steven Spielberg,
28:19because it was an added thing.
28:21You know what I mean?
28:21No, I don't know what you mean.
28:22I know.
28:23I don't even like talking about it.
28:25It's making me uncomfortable.
28:26No, this is like therapy.
28:28Okay, good.
28:29So...
28:30You cut Steven Spielberg out of a sketch?
28:32Dude, I don't like that this happened.
28:35Oh, my. Mikey.
28:36I hate it.
28:37Mikey, who have you become?
28:38When I was...
28:39I don't know, and it's an awful thing.
28:42Yes.
28:42The first time I was here, too, I had another awkward moment
28:46with Steven Spielberg.
28:47So this was another awkward moment.
28:48So we have to cut him.
28:50I believe when his assistant threw the chain of communication,
28:55I believe Steven Spielberg thought that the whole sketch
28:59had been cut.
29:00Okay?
29:00That's better.
29:01So there was an event that the night after celebrating Lauren,
29:05it was like a toast for Lauren, and Steven Spielberg's there.
29:09And I'm like, I have awkwardness with Steven Spielberg,
29:12because we had to cut him out of our sketch.
29:13Yeah.
29:14So I briefly talked to him, and then he goes,
29:17yeah, the whole sketch was cut.
29:19And I go, I know that it wasn't, because I would have heard,
29:23but instead of going, oh, I don't think that's right,
29:25I just went, oh, no, the whole thing was cut?
29:29No!
29:32Pretending like I thought it was cut,
29:35and I was spiraling into an awkward abyss with Steven Spielberg.
29:40Yeah, like, no!
29:41I've got to see if I can get it back.
29:43Yeah, a normal person would have gone, oh, really?
29:45I don't think so.
29:46Yeah, I think you might have heard wrong.
29:48But I just went, oh, no, it was cut?
29:50No!
29:52It was so awful.
29:54And then, wait, but then, no, I'll tell you what's awful.
29:56What?
29:57Well, the 50th happens, Steven Spielberg's in the audience.
30:00Watching this!
30:03He's got to be like, what's going on, dude?
30:05Now, I'm sure he, obviously, he's a man with a lot going on.
30:09I'm sure it didn't weigh on him too heavily.
30:12No.
30:12But I didn't talk to him after, but I saw him there, so.
30:16Did you make eye contact?
30:17No.
30:18I'm just standing there, Steven Spielberg.
30:21He's like, hey, sorry, buddy.
30:23Hey, man.
30:23I guess I didn't cut the sketch.
30:25Sorry, but I don't even know what happened!
30:28But he was lovely, obviously.
30:30He was great, and I'm sure he didn't lose any sleepover.
30:33No, I think he's probably bummed out,
30:35and I think you have to write him into a sketch this season.
30:37Oh, I would.
30:38I should!
30:39Yes!
30:40I'm going to!
30:41We're going to see it.
30:42This weekend, maybe.
30:44We don't know.
30:45That's short notice.
30:46Mikey Day, everybody.
30:47Saturday Night Live is all new this weekend
30:50with host Nikki Glaser.
30:52Musical guest Sombra.
30:53Nikki Glaser, Sombra!
30:54Maybe Steven Spielberg.
30:56More Tonight Show after the break.
30:58Stick around, everybody.
30:59Maybe Steven Spielberg.
31:00I started at the bottom, now I'm only at the top,
31:04but I'm hardly finished climbing,
31:06cause I'm only at the top.
31:07I figured I should...
31:08...
31:17Our next guest is a two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion
31:22who just this weekend brought home the NASCAR Cup trophy
31:25in Arizona.
31:26Everyone, please welcome Kyle Larson!
31:29Welcome to the Tonight Show.
31:47Congrats on your second NASCAR Cup championship.
31:50Man, oh, man, this is a big trophy.
31:53Big. About 70 pounds.
31:5570 pounds. This is the real thing.
31:58I don't even want to touch it.
31:59It's probably four feet tall, 70 pounds.
32:01And see those things?
32:03They look like beautiful art squiggles.
32:05They're actually...
32:06Race tracks.
32:06They're actually race tracks.
32:07Yeah, yeah.
32:08Yeah, so like this one right here would be,
32:10let's see, Pocono.
32:11You know every track?
32:13I'm guessing Bristol, the Roval.
32:15Are you guessing or are you just making up things?
32:16No, I can see it.
32:17Yeah, you know it.
32:18You know these tracks and just...
32:20Do you dream about these tracks?
32:21Oh, sometimes. Sometimes.
32:23But no, no, not too often. That's...
32:25When you're in the zone, you're there.
32:27Sometimes I forget about what track I'm actually at
32:29when I'm there the night before, so...
32:31You're like...
32:32You get a little confused, yeah.
32:33Here's a picture of your kids with the trophy.
32:36With your trophies.
32:38Two of your kids are inside the trophy.
32:41Yeah.
32:42That's how big this trophy is.
32:43It's large.
32:44Yeah, did you ever think you'd be a two-time champ?
32:48Uh, I don't know. I think as a kid, yeah,
32:50you dream of winning at least one, and then, for me, I...
32:55Once I got hooked up with Rick Hendrick, that's when I was like,
32:57okay, I know I can go out there and compete for wins,
32:59and then championships will hopefully come.
33:01So, it's been amazing.
33:02It's been a really cool five years with them,
33:05and getting two championships is awesome.
33:06You're crushing it.
33:07Do you feel it when you're racing?
33:09Like, this one was a tough one, didn't you?
33:10Yeah. Yeah, I got pretty lucky.
33:13The way our format is, you know, it comes down to one race,
33:16four drivers.
33:17We're competing with the other drivers, too,
33:18but you just have to beat the other three,
33:20and I was not going to do that until we got a late caution,
33:23and our team gambled, took two tires, and...
33:27But you got a flat tire?
33:28Yeah, I had a flat tire with under 100 laps to go.
33:31It was crazy.
33:32Did you just think it's over, and you go,
33:33that's it, it's over. I might as well just enjoy the ride.
33:35I thought it was close to over,
33:36but I tried to stay somewhat motivated and confident,
33:39but never in a million years,
33:41I think it would actually pay off.
33:42And then you go, wait, you go, you make the choice.
33:44Who makes the choice?
33:45I'm gonna only change two tires, not four tires.
33:47It'd be like my crew chief on the pit box.
33:50He's the one who makes all the decisions,
33:52him and the engineers.
33:53And we actually have, like, code words for, you know,
33:55our pit calls because we can scan everybody's radio.
33:58So you can hear everyone's...
33:59Yeah, so I can't, but the teams can.
34:01So, yeah, we had...
34:02So they're like, Cocoa Puffs, Cocoa Puffs.
34:04Yeah, you could use that, yeah, but our code word was money.
34:07So we went to go make some money on that final stop.
34:09Wow.
34:10And is that dangerous, only changing two tires?
34:12Uh, it's not dangerous, it's just riskier,
34:15because you're thinking that you're gonna have less grip
34:17than the guys who put four new tires on,
34:19but it worked out.
34:20You crushed it.
34:21Thanks. Congratulations, bud.
34:26Now they have you here, how long you drive for hours?
34:31Yeah, so I would say typical NASCAR race,
34:33we're like three to three and a half hours.
34:36And your heart rate's like 150 to 160 average for that time.
34:40So, yeah, summer months, it gets super hot,
34:43about 150 degrees, so it's crazy.
34:45150 degrees. Inside the car, yeah.
34:46Inside the car. 150 degrees.
34:4850, yeah. I have no idea what that would feel like.
34:51Yeah, it's not fun a lot of the times.
34:53And do you have cooling things on?
34:55So, yeah, we actually have on our helmet,
34:58like, a blower hose that goes to it.
35:00Blows air. It's not cool air.
35:03But then we wear these fireproof, like, shirts,
35:07and they have kind of water lines running through it
35:08and a hose that hooks up to, like, a refrigerator box,
35:11pretty much. So that runs Cool Flu,
35:13which helps a ton.
35:14That's insane. And do you eat?
35:16You can. You can eat.
35:18You ever have a sandwich or anything?
35:20I have, uh...
35:21While I drive by eating a hoagie and be like,
35:23What's up, dude?
35:25I'm just like, this guy's confident, man.
35:27Yeah, so I have, we have, like, you know, water.
35:29We can drink.
35:31And then I have, like, some, like, I don't know,
35:34carbohydrate gummy things.
35:36Then also, like, these, like, waffle cookies.
35:38You eat gummies while you drive?
35:40Not those kind of gummies.
35:41Okay, all right, all right, all right.
35:42Those guys say, wow, you're really confident.
35:44Wow, this guy's amazing.
35:45It's really amazing what you're doing.
35:47And are your kids going to follow in your footsteps?
35:50So, my daughter and my oldest son, they both raised.
35:53So, yeah, it's fun.
