00:00Sauce Gardner traded away from the Jets to the Colts,
00:04and we've talked about what it means for Indianapolis, Joe,
00:06but we haven't talked about what the Jets did this past week,
00:09which was really surprising in not just trading Sauce Gardner,
00:12but also trading Quinnen Williams, who is now a Dallas Cowboy.
00:16It has set the Jets up draft-wise to be really, really aggressive.
00:23They have multiple first-round picks this coming draft.
00:26They have multiple first-round picks in 2027.
00:31This is a team who did a bit of a tear down here, Joe.
00:37What did you make of the Jets' approach this past deadline?
00:41I loved it.
00:41I mean, they solidified themselves for 2026,
00:44and I think that you have a player in Sauce that you can get value for, right?
00:49You ship him to a contender in Indy,
00:52and you get back and return the ability to all of a sudden revamp
00:59and get this team back on track for next year
01:01and make it a legitimate potential dog horse or wild card team.
01:06Yep.
01:07I mean, if they get the right quarterback,
01:10and we'll see exactly how Justin Fields performs today,
01:14and really get more offensive weapons,
01:18is because outside of Garrett Wilson, they really need another pure –
01:23was that Pitts?
01:24A pure number two.
01:26I think –
01:27That's Pitts for 25.
01:28All right, good.
01:29Good.
01:30Told you.
01:31Can we get him in the end zone, Kevin?
01:34Wow.
01:34All right.
01:35All right.
01:35Go ahead.
01:36So anyway, but I mean, outside of Garrett Wilson,
01:40Mason Taylor's good for a tight end,
01:43but you get another guy in the slot, a burner,
01:46and then all of a sudden now this offense looks good now.
01:49Brees Hall, is he half-checked out?
01:51Is he going to be excited to be there next year?
01:53I don't know.
01:54Right.
01:55He's driving a go-kart in the locker room.
01:57I mean, he's – you know.
01:58I didn't mind the go-kart.
02:00I know, but –
02:02I like the go-kart.
02:04I just feel like this team has pieces and young talent
02:11that if Aaron Glenn can get this team motivated next year
02:16and they get the right talent to fit his type of scheme,
02:19whatever that is, defensively –
02:22because, again, this defense is horrible.
02:24With Sauce, with Quinn and Williams,
02:26this defense hasn't lived up to any expectation.
02:30Right.
02:30And certainly did not look like the same defense that we saw
02:33what you call defense coordinator of the year,
02:36Robert Salah, and that team.
02:38Right?
02:38But let's be honest.
02:39No, yeah.
02:40The defense was the strength of that team, potentially.
02:43Yeah.
02:43Absolutely.
02:44And now I feel like the offense has better weapons
02:47than the defense does.
02:49Right.
02:49Listen, I think this is just such a bold move by the Jets,
02:56yet it was universal praise.
02:58Right?
02:59The question becomes, do they have the ability to see it out?
03:04And I worry that the answer to that is no.
03:07And what I mean is –
03:10again, I'll try and do a shortened version of this.
03:14The NBA, teams tank.
03:18They are bad intentionally multiple years in a row.
03:23In the NFL, that's not a thing.
03:25The teams that are bad multiple years in a row,
03:27it's because they're just poorly ran or they whiff on a quarterback.
03:31The Browns, the Jets, the Titans, these teams want to be in the playoffs.
03:36This year, they were wondering, maybe, possibly, could it be?
03:40That's why Flacco got the start.
03:42That's why the Titans paid through the nose to bring offensive linemen in.
03:46It's why Jets fans are still wondering, could Justin Fields be the guy?
03:50That's what they're hoping.
03:53Almost pits.
03:54Almost pits.
03:56Guys wide open.
03:58This Pinnock's guys wide open.
04:00Can we lead him?
04:01How much air are we going to get over the ball?
04:04What are you throwing in?
04:04Nerf?
04:05What's he doing?
04:07Guys wide open.
04:08Separation.
04:09Look at that.
04:09Get it there.
04:10So, for the Jets to move on from Quinn and move on from Sauce, it's a reset.
04:17Yes.
04:17But here's my problem.
04:20We're going to go into next season, and the Jets are like, listen, man.
04:24Year two, Aaron Glenn.
04:25We're going to build on last year.
04:27We're looking to make the playoffs this year.
04:29No.
04:30No, man.
04:31Okay.
04:32Bad.
04:33This year.
04:34Next year.
04:35Maybe the year after that.
04:36We'll talk in 2028.
04:37Well, I mean, with free agency and the ability to get a quarterback and a plug-and-play type
04:43of guy, I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility they can't be next year with
04:49the right talent, a 9-8 football team.
