00:00:59yeah it is a bit of a gamble especially against guys like david warner michael clark i mean they've
00:01:03got some good battered batsmen in this australian lineup and uh it's going to be very interesting
00:01:07to see how they play particularly david warner i mean he's had a bit of a he had that wonderful start
00:01:11but he's had a a few scratchy knocks and he'll be really quite keen
00:01:15because he'll be quite keen now to show that uh that first innings that he played wasn't a fluke
00:01:23it's amazing the difference in mindsets or tactics of of nations i i saw the toss go up i saw that
00:01:29it go the way of dan vittori and my instinct was oh no you know we've we're going to be in the field
00:01:36the aussies are going to have to chase tonight and that was the mindset that we've played our
00:01:40one-day cricket for so long but obviously for the kiwis it's it's different
00:01:49well this is a good start good line of length for the umpires today
00:01:53steve buckner has been around for 100 years it seems 176 one-day internationals at square leg

00:02:48started brilliantly uh he's a very very powerful hitter of the ball and uh he has to deal with all
00:02:54that publicity he got initially um yeah i think he's got to get give himself just a little bit of time
00:02:59he's got a lot to prove yet he bowls well to the left-handers kyle mills i know facing him
00:03:09in recent years he's got the ability to swing the ball into you as a left-hand batsman but just can
00:03:15take it away off the scene so you know he tempts you into wanting to leave a ball but then he tempts
00:03:22you into playing in a ball just with that little bit of hesitation and doubt so he's well performed and
00:03:27he's been i think moved up to about number three or four in in the odi rankings of bowling so he's
00:03:32had a great time of it lately
00:03:40oops it's a maiden over that's a great start for new zealand
00:03:50oh dear he shouldn't have got away with that that would have been out i think
00:03:53he went the first time he the tail was the fieldsman and he missed
00:04:00guptill fact was the fieldsman oh this was gone i'm sure had he got it right had he hit the stump
00:04:06so important let's see there he goes clark realizes here he's got a problem here goes the throw oh well
00:04:13perhaps he would have just made it
00:04:18field of a cover just a single knock down no catch
00:04:25and he would have thought that was the one but some fantastic fielding there from guptill
00:04:29again in the the covers mills just releasing a little bit of width but yeah very well done they
00:04:37were fantastic in the field all around in perth as well the new zealand team so the standards haven't dropped
00:04:51cole mills will swing it away from michael clark and he does give you a chance early on
00:04:55he fits you about off stump and just curved the ball away a fraction there's two slips in
00:04:59point covering the middle of the third man on the offside yeah there'll be quite a lot of you
00:05:06wondering um why are we dwelling on david warner the way we are well when he first arrived on the
00:05:11scene this is what happened he played some incredible shots i mean shots like this which
00:05:17just disappeared on this big mobile career ground seven sixes in a knock here in the 2020 and that was
00:05:23one of the big ones and that was even bigger he made the 89 or 43 deliveries look at the reaction
00:05:31of his colleagues there i mean that one really did sail out of the ground and he's very strong
00:05:36in that area at mid wickets so that's the reason why we're dwelling on him a bit
00:05:42in the air and out i would say yes big wicket beautifully bowled but that's the pressure
00:05:49that's international cricket at the highest order and right you are that is extreme pressure they
00:05:56built it up they've bowled tight one ball i can think of had a bit of width and got onto that but
00:06:01not this one he's looking to force it just trying to get that first one away to get the momentum
00:06:06going but only proceeds in knocking it straight up in the air great level of this game good bowling
00:06:11by the kiwis they've done very well so far they've kept it tight warner out for two it's one for four
00:06:16yeah i suppose michael clark's option was uh himself to go at number three and hadn't
00:06:21watch this one into the gap on the offside and they get a copy here that's well played they might
00:06:26even get three here yeah so i suppose that was the choice michael clark had opened myself
00:06:33um because they had to obviously replace marsh as the opener
00:06:37well he got hold of it just wide of mid-iron went off the meat of the bat but
00:06:44he should pick up two happy with two
00:06:47that's through this bit short cover colin mills had a great uh start at the wacker
00:07:03bold ball that's the first boundary and it's a beauty half ball and he's crashed it through
00:07:10it up for four that is much better that's exactly what they need a few of those that was into the
00:07:15slot and boy it was smashed down the ground look at hadn't come through this one beautiful shot
00:07:22oh yeah so quickly into position we've seen clark gets stuck on the front foot on occasions playing
00:07:34that stroke this summer big boundary out there but it makes it all the way
00:07:37and although he's going forward as he plays the stroke he's beautifully balanced as he does so
00:07:46well that will certainly give michael clark some heart but i was about to say that the other night
00:07:50australia only made 181 in perth on a good pitch and they almost won the game and he lost off the
00:07:56last ball by two wickets so i think you're also seeing a slightly conservative start from the australians
00:08:01because what they want to do is make sure they get a reasonable total first
00:08:05and they maybe have just taken their dropped their target down a little bit from the
00:08:10the lofty heights of 270 or 280 and thought well let's make sure we get 230 240 first
00:08:17the other day they made 180 because they're in all sorts of trouble they were
00:08:20they were two two for 26 after 10 and then they had the runouts of clark and
00:08:26ponting which made matters even worse so
00:08:28after slumping to five for 55 after 20 they were never going to make a big score today
00:08:36it might be a little bit more conservative at the top to save some resources at the bottom
00:08:39to make a 230 to 250 score and that will be hard to get
00:08:43well that in itself raises many issues not least the one that you do have to learn to play
00:08:56differently when excellent players leave a team it's not possible for replacements to
00:09:02take matches by storm in the way that a lot of the best australians have done in the last as you
00:09:06say the last decade and so if you set your sights a little lower you take a little bit of pressure
00:09:12off yourself there's kind of a wide slip about a fourth slip and a short extra cover of the two
00:09:21attacking fielders but there are spaces on the leg side only three men leg side
00:09:33clark really played that with conviction
00:09:37when you're battling to get your innings going one thing you do pray for is a bit of help from the
00:09:41bowler and michael clark's had it in this over he had a short pitch delivery that really is uh
00:09:47begging to be hit and then a half volley on leg stump although that wasn't quite a half
00:09:50volley he did walk at it and made it into it but he looks at the moment like his innings is away
00:10:11oh just the thinnest scratch it is
00:10:20very frustrating moment for brad hadden who would have enjoyed the opportunity to come up and bat in
00:10:25the top three yes once again just when things were starting to look much better for australia they've
00:10:32taken 10 from south his last over and taken seven from this over and off the last ball hadden's gone
00:10:37two for 35
00:10:42bowling daddy boy this is where clark's very good he's quick on his feet
00:10:46no bad thing to have good players of spinning when the tory comes on jitan patel will bowl a little
00:10:52later as well certainly you've got to be able to get to the pitch of the ball in the one day game you
00:10:59cannot let the spinner dictate to you
00:11:06gets a good thrash through extra cover now there are good signs here in these early offerings from
00:11:13david hussey now nice use of the feet from david hussey picked up the length very well
00:11:19it was the slower one from daniel vettori was only about 77 k's looking to entice him down the pitch
00:11:25and then spin one past him but hussey picked up the length very quickly pushed back got himself in
00:11:31position and then found the gap good batting
00:11:36there's another good bit of timing now clark really is beginning to get some rhythm
00:11:40down the ground it goes delightful shot from michael clark
00:11:53and a classy classy shot
00:11:58the whole australian team have to realize that michael clark can make 130 here there's time for him to
00:12:03make 120 130 and then their score will be decent but if he doesn't then there's time for someone to do it
00:12:14oh that one finds the gap finally david hussey has hit a couple of nice strokes straight to the fieldsman
00:12:20and the tory's still
00:12:24deploying a very tight offside field the bowling power power plays finished only 17 runs from it
00:12:31he's opting to keep the men up inside the ring and keep the pressure on
00:12:41got him yes he's gone bang i'm not sure i'm my new zealanders well i'm bad for new zealand there am i
00:12:48heaven forbid after sir richard hadley yesterday he gave it to us at the hassa club luncheon he's
00:13:00delighted that they're leading 1-0 and he said it's going to be a very very tight series and he said
00:13:06they're developing some young players which is true in zealand so it's a transition period for both these
00:13:11teams it's a matter i guess the good players like clark putting their hand up making big hundreds and
00:13:17maybe vettori getting a wick or two the experienced cricketers and both teams yes the experienced
00:13:24guys for australia haven't been doing their job
00:13:25he's got to go he's got to go oh he hits it we'll have a look and i would say
00:13:34he might be just short you just get the feeling with a direct hit he was always in trouble
00:13:40direct hit i think he might be just short bill i reckon he's in i reckon he just made
00:13:45he's a good athlete here's the throw where's the batsman
00:13:52gone the direct hit it's unbelievable and i he will feel that he's just home there's a strong
00:14:00extension there but when you feel you're just home often with a direct hit you're just short
00:14:06big wicket for new zealand they're tightening the noose again no one really knows out on the field for
00:14:11sure but the new zealand reserves have bolted out having seen that replay with their drinks the
00:14:18australian reserves are walking they're walking slowly and another run out it hurts at three and
00:14:25two games and huss is gone for 10 and all of a sudden it's three for 63 that's a big wicket great fielding
00:14:32three for 63 up to 17.5
00:14:42oh he threads it through look at the pace of the outfield today it's going to get to the boundary
00:14:46nice way to start mike hussey great way to start i think he should have a slip into michael hussey he's
00:14:54been stroking a little bit against spin of late not being prepared to play shots that was almost a
00:14:58defensive push found the middle of the bat the timing was superb i need to maybe pick up another
00:15:03wicket a bit of was plenty of flight there he got to it nicely and just hit through the line and went all
00:15:08the way
00:15:12a little run away he's got something to it i think it was that extension of the hands and he'll come
00:15:18back for two they haven't been able to get it for tory which might mean the spinners are really slow and
00:15:26off the pitch so australia have to really assess everything right now and work out what is the
00:15:31total we're going to graft our way towards and then bowl like demons
00:15:38oh nicely fired he's a beautiful player spinny he'll change up the link that's four that was a
00:15:43bad ball he should have put that away but he does use his speed beautifully normally makes the length
00:15:48michael park that's his strength against spin so i think he's tried to do it this over the link
00:15:53previous to that delivery's been too good but i think he's won the battle here hasn't he
00:15:57he skips down and the next one's a little bit shorter he can stay back and there run it down
00:16:02very fine for a boundary
00:16:07good batting
00:16:08that's found the gap been waiting for something full and wide as my cussie finally got it and found the boundary
00:16:22well that's exactly what's needed a few boundaries just to get that run right up a little bit
00:16:29they've got to be quite patient to wait for that bad ball but make sure they
00:16:33get into the gaps when they have a go like this

00:16:48and there's 50 for the australian caretaker captain
00:16:54promoted himself up the order 50 of 74 balls is a good start
00:16:59very good start indeed and appreciated by this crowd here this is not an easy day to bat it's very hot
00:17:05and um it's going to need a captain's innings here to get the australians a decent score
00:17:19australia were asked to bat earlier today daniel vittori won the toss david warner
00:17:24came out two singles from 11 deliveries or 10 deliveries before that one
00:17:30bad hadn't was batting quite nicely with michael clark before that and then dave hussey dismissal
00:17:35i was just talking about takes on vittori and loses
00:17:40a nod there from poor rifle yep you've got him
00:17:44well it's nicely hit there's no one out in that area and that almost went all the way
00:17:49one bouncing over the rope yep very very good hit indeed he decided it seemed to me
00:17:57that it had to go in that direction because no fieldsman there pitched outside off stump and helped
00:18:02on its way
00:18:07yeah didn't quite get that michael hussey
00:18:13bring up the hundred for australia and he'll get three
00:18:15yes um apparently uh having been well not guaranteed but uh all intents and purpose would have been uh
00:18:27i think one of the players would have attracted something like a million dollars for a couple of
00:18:33months work um through the ipl to say no to that uh and to put uh i think basically his country first i
00:18:43think he he realizes that they've got very little time off it's a it's a big decision but he's making
00:18:47it he's made it uh he's not going to go and play in the ipl

00:19:05and michael clark south is annoyed with himself the line was wrong clark put it away nicely so he
00:19:11should be their discipline's been very good today they've bowled to a plan this was uh asking for
00:19:16trouble and it was actually beautifully played just watch the face of the backyard just closing the
00:19:21face and getting it right off the middle no one back so it's four
00:19:27in the air for a while and that's through as well
00:19:30at least two more let's hit better and in the end a nice piece of fielding
00:19:35well they just dropped jitan patel back there for that ball maybe the last two overs of elliott's
00:19:47the last two balls of elliott's over and ross taylor comes up with the misfield
00:19:51oh it's beautifully played just ticked away now this is not going to work
00:20:02well for the mindset of callum ferguson i don't think he thinks he's in next he wants to be in
00:20:07next he's playing in his first one day international suddenly the skipper from out on the ground just
00:20:11waves and says you might want to get cam white ready and now he's wondering whether he's in next or not
00:20:16he doesn't seem to be sitting up in the viewing area with as we say we've got him down at six and
00:20:23that's where michael clark announced him in the in the at the interview at the toss to come in at six
00:20:33yeah but don't worry about his frame of mind if white doesn't get the job done ferguson's got to
00:20:37be ready to do it straight after him this flexibility in any batting order is
00:20:42not handled very well by batsmen and i can sense that in your your frame of mind brace you don't
00:20:48like this that you batsmen are finicky things you get told you're number four and you need to stay
00:20:53there your first game maybe if you played four or five years oh
00:21:02in your first game you just did whatever you were told didn't you break i certainly
00:21:07i got told i was batting 11 i still would have been happy rather be 11 than 12.
00:21:13full pitch and just a single
00:21:20michael clark clark is really stiffening up he's gone between the shoulder blades he's
00:21:25he's not free at all so there is something that's gotten hold of him
00:21:31and kyle mills over pitched that last delivery in the power play and was able to be hit straight to where
00:21:36his protecting man was out on mid-wicket boundary now the left-hander on strike someone's got to come at mills
00:21:43that's short and pulled away beautiful shot from mike hussey and a much-needed boundary for the australian team
00:21:56the mills trying to take the pace off it just a change down 115 kilometers that delivery and
00:22:04in doing so just proceeded to drag it down allowing hussey to rock back he does so well
00:22:11pivoting onto that back foot and dispatching it to the boundaries
00:22:17still had to wait for it didn't he not only to change the pace but uh off the pitch he waited a
00:22:22little bit longer and got the gap
00:22:24dropped at his feet and always going to be a comfortable single with the big lumbering
00:22:33kyle mills on the follow through he took a while to get started again
00:22:38having a little chat to clark too but uh 127 games before this 112 115 of them batting not opening but
00:22:47in opening he's averaging 45 and he scored two of his 300s in one day cricket batting in the opening
00:22:54spot this is his best chance and he's on target again he's got 32 runs to go to make another one
00:23:01he's been impressive at five he's been impressive all through the list but he is highly suited to number
00:23:06one or two and that's four finally the aussies make mills pay for the full length delivery and
00:23:17that was for the moment it left the bat o'brien's been good 6.2 over is none for 25 he's probably been
00:23:25even better than those figures suggest and they're not bad
00:23:30and he's called through and that'll be 50
00:23:32mike hussey starting to work his way back into the form we expect from this terrific clap
00:23:41yeah it's been good signs in the last few games for hussey although it hasn't gone australia's way
00:23:45he's managed to pick up one half century another 40-odd against the kiwis on friday
00:23:52on sunday sorry back in perth but he's played well and not only his 50 off 68 balls
00:24:01featuring in a very good partnership here of 86 with michael clark
00:24:06oh that's well bold and uh just a little lucky that time hussey
00:24:12he's managed to squeeze it away down to third man
00:24:17cutting close
00:24:20and it ran away two runs
00:24:22usually convincing this one but it got tight the angle it didn't turn as much as hussey anticipated
00:24:28or wanted it to right let's see what happens here
00:24:34trying to smash it into that gap down at square leg but unless you get it absolutely right that area is
00:24:40very well covered quite long boundaries the side boundaries at the mcg

00:24:53six boundaries you'll be thinking of a hundred but he's got to get that out of his mind he's
00:24:57leading the ship he's got to do what the team requires now and that is find the boundary
00:25:01with david see one of the things that uh he'd be conscious of if you go down the wicket and try
00:25:09and smash a six and miss hit the thing or get stumped you really do look like a bit of a goose
00:25:15and he won't be wanting to do that i mean he's uh he'll be wanting to be there play those sorts of
00:25:21shots in the last into the gap that won't play if he's going to play those sorts of shots they'll be
00:25:26played in the last three or four hours yeah and by then he'll have a hundred but he's still got to
00:25:34lift the intensity he's got to be looking for twos it's got to be single every ball at least
00:25:39so southey replacing vittori right arm over
00:25:46at least there'll be a little bit of face on the ball for these two
00:25:54you have to have assessed that this pitch is slow and going to be hard to chase this evening because
00:25:59the urgency has not really increased and steve buckner coming down saying no more running on the pitch
00:26:06that's happened quite a few times it's a little bit late he tries to protect himself from the
00:26:10run out he runs straight down the pitch there was no chance of being thrown out here with that that's
00:26:14terrible he did it once or twice when he thought he was going to be thrown out but there's no need for
00:26:20that
00:26:27jock looking for the second back he comes that's good running very good running a direct hit may
00:26:33may have stretched him a little bit but uh they've just got to go for it now and what was the ball
00:26:38doing trying to take the ball in front of the stumps again center the new zealand's got this idea of
00:26:44dragging the ball back on he may have even deflected a lot off the stumps probably made it but
00:26:55not sure he would have been short and i think you're right he might have directed it away
00:27:00not out a big collision but uh the ball needed to hit the stumps directly
00:27:12it was uh a long way away from the stumps and really the ball had to drag it down so there was
00:27:16no chance of a run out there this is starting to feel it a little bit now michael clark he gets the
00:27:23hip and shoulder he had to make a lot of ground taylor was better off going for the direct hip
00:27:29and then he gets a bit of a hip and shoulder
00:27:43i don't think michael clark's going to win any of those uh barging battles with new zealanders
00:27:48there's a handy overs for new zealand the run rate's 4.14
00:28:01you don't think they've made enough do you do you think they've got a problem well i i think
00:28:12there's not enough intent there maybe they have made enough but if you if you get beaten by
00:28:18two wickets because when they're four out there's got to be a question asked you get the opportunity
00:28:23of batting first you're sent into bat and you get a good clutch for 123 going and your run rates die
00:28:29four and over on a big ground doesn't seem enough yeah look they need minimum 230 to give their bowler
00:28:37something but give a bit of credit to the kiwi bowling as well they've they've kept it simple they're
00:28:42bowling right up in the block hole now they've varied the pace it's been a good effort from vittori
00:28:46and patel there's just not been a consistency of big overs but you're right there's been a lack of
00:28:54risk taken throughout this innings
00:28:56well that's very well played and that's four nine runs from the over it's three for 190. well you'd
00:29:08reckon that michael clark and michael hustle the two of its most experienced players on the australian side
00:29:16he's gone long there's a big gap out there but the man's coming round he can't control it he keeps it
00:29:23in hussies run two and martin guptill saves four maybe yeah i think it was definitely going for six
00:29:31i think you're dead right now what you've got to do is you've got to control the ball and your actions
00:29:36inside the field he doesn't do that he's got the ball under control he hasn't got control of his actions
00:29:42so he flicks it back in now people may argue that he is controlling his actions by being able to do that
00:29:47but it won't be out it would certainly have been six ends up being two

00:30:21you just don't expect that from a fast medium bowler and again just holding in the wicket and hussie

00:30:38southie it is not o'brien bowling o'brien finishes over white finds the gap at mid-wicket puts two
00:30:45fielders under great pressure they do well so white's out of the blocks with a three yeah good
00:30:52sensible play too from cameron whitey didn't try to back away or do something too complicated he went
00:30:57more across his stumps and just used the angle that southie bowled at to work the ball on the onside
00:31:03lovely shot just timed it nicely found the gap picked up three
00:31:10you know brian left-handed scrape to jitan patel and now southie to clark who gives his stumps up a
00:31:19little bit doesn't use the angle like white did last ball and picks up one to go to 96
00:31:25michael clark needed to go apparently and uh i'm pretty sure mike hussey who's the guardian of the
00:31:34song at the time and and simon caddy didn't understand that he had to go somewhere and had
00:31:40to be somewhere and the song was held off for a long period of time as you talked about gilly
00:31:46which is good normally but uh in swinger into the toe it's about his third injury for this innings too
00:31:54it's going to say alex conturas the physio will be up
00:31:58down he goes beautifully bowled again but they they don't ever tickle those
00:32:06the biggest one of the summer is sean tate blasting mark vouchers
00:32:10toes almost out of his shoe straight on front of the toe voucher had a dislocated break and fraction
00:32:20so he's been out and hoping to be back for the south african test series against australia
00:32:28he walks he charges and he's bowled that is beautiful thinking by ian o'brien
00:32:36and michael clark agonizingly short of three figures
00:32:42well i feel like he missed out on the test 100 at the gabber earlier in the year against these guys
00:32:47and i'm sure he feels the same he's had niggles all day he caught the one on the toe walking down
00:32:53the pitch very clever bowling from o'brien but the deflection off the pads unluckily under the stumps it
00:33:00a very strong hand there from michael clark he'll be disappointed with that now for 98
00:33:09oh it's a white and might pinch one there's a shot the stumps white would have been in trouble
00:33:14so the ball's got to be re-bowled they get two runs for it so he's in with two overs and two balls
00:33:21there's 14 balls still to go if they can pick up 15 to 20 runs the total is probably competitive
00:33:29kyle mills back into the attack with a big off spinner which callum ferguson finds in the middle

00:34:27i haven't seen so many full tosses go unpunished that one just a little flip around the corner you've
00:34:33got four cameron white must be loading up in one particular area and not ready for the others another

00:37:54toe and jam with the bat my feet start to tingle just just watching that

00:41:37and cameron white makes it look very easy he's got big big hands and he swallows it one for 21.

00:41:54hilton house the bowler was confident big shout from behind the stumps but nothing from the umpire
00:42:00gee the aussies were up as one they're all charging in hat and throwing the ball up in the air they were
00:42:05certain the attempted pull shot well we perhaps gave paul rifle a hard time for one that he missed

00:42:49really well he created the opportunity i just got the feeling that one of them maybe mid on or mid off
00:42:54should have gone to the stumps you feel that australia had to get all these little things
00:42:59right they didn't make it easier for themselves than they have done and hilfenhouse thought it was going
00:43:04to hit yeah what an opportunity there goes begging for australia one for 30 after eight
00:43:14yeah i see five soft hands races away for four
00:43:19it's a fine cricketer brenda mccullum he was perfect with the gloves today and that was
00:43:23an experienced shot opened the face always four that was as nasty a stare as i've seen come from
00:43:29the eyes of nathan bracken he is frustrated with this he thinks he's bottled mccullum up beautifully
00:43:35around the off stump and now mccullum has found this technique the open face glide how much pace did
00:43:41he get on it and bogus substitute fieldsman oh that's a very good shot fortin who really struggled
00:43:52at the wacker picked that up and hit as clean as a whistle
00:43:58hilfenhouse can't control things he's been short and wide and dispatched and now he's full and straight
00:44:04and the beautiful of pace to just flick off your legs to frustrate the australians none for 24
00:44:13in 4.1 overs for hilfenhouse
00:44:19it's gone again and it's four more it's short it's a long hop and he's gone bang
00:44:25i'm not sure about the support that man's giving his captain at the moment

00:48:06certainly communication with the keeper the first two deliveries hopes bowled the first one was 118
00:48:12kilometers an hour he then went up to about 132 so he's he's trying to change his pace immediately
00:48:18oh that's out yes caught behind big nick big deflection and uh well very important they keep
00:48:29getting wickets very good decision to stay back i'd say i agree with that i'm very happy to see him
00:48:35standing back very well bowled just in that nice little corridor good healthy edge and hadn't moving
00:48:41beautifully to accept a relatively straightforward catch they're happy and so they should be fulton
00:48:48was looking starting to look settled it's two for 62 a couple of games back when it's seven and eight
00:48:52and over but he's pulled it back beautifully in the last two
00:48:59pretty tight run and not a very good throw in fact a really bad trove
00:49:03and it ends up being worth three so a very risky single the david hussey at midwick it ends up costing

00:49:24james hopes and mid-off he's trying to get across just come in the picture they're chasing
00:49:29he couldn't do enough work in the short space of time that was required from that

00:49:50desperately diving there to try and stop that one but that was beautifully timed
00:49:54at the moment it is up to mccullum and taylor they are the two men that really need to
00:50:05see new zealand through from probably to that 30 or 40 over mark you suspect
00:50:14that's an area that it seems to me mitchell johnson really does hurry batsman up he gets the ball
00:50:19straight in at that area around about the thigh pad and when it bounces you see them struggle
00:50:25he seems to surprise a lot of batsmen there and you've you've seen two or three singles in the
00:50:32last couple of overs in these areas that cover and mid-wicket square leg those sort of areas which
00:50:38with this sort of andrew simons ricky ponting michael clark in those positions
00:50:44with australia at their best you just wouldn't see singles like that
00:50:57i think he might be frustrated too whatever motions he was making to his head they're
00:51:00frustrated that these ones and twos are coming on the leg side he's got a strong offside field

00:51:15they're killers such tidy bowling too from james hopes as it was the other day in perth
00:51:24it really does get you this game if you stray just or two or three inches
00:51:29players players are so quick onto anything here this is just too straight and it's the scene that
00:51:36wanders leg side and once it's hit the thigh pad it's gone having to do nothing about it
00:51:50and mccullum can create that effect a little bit by walking as he does he walks towards the bowler but
00:52:00also generally to the offside and a delivery like hopes to spoiled two balls prior was it was on leg
00:52:07stump it wasn't wide down the leg side but it's just leg side enough by the time mccullum finishes
00:52:13his movements enough to get that tickle down for four

00:52:32a little lap sweep and nice and fine well done by hilfenhaus and two's all they'll get

01:03:47this is exactly what australia needed that man knows that that's a big moment
01:03:53the game was on his bat if he could stay there he's walking off and australia breathe again on the back of
01:03:59mitchell johnson and once again it's the batting power play that brings about a wicket we've seen
01:04:05it a number of times in this one day series australia back in the game four for 176 but only 17 odis
01:04:13between them down he comes and slices it away it'll be four big finish for the kiwis

01:06:17normally pretty easy to get there but if they lose another wicket or two here all they need to do is
