Neil, 1-1 draw against Southend. I'm guessing obviously a bit of a dampener to concede the late equaliser,
00:05
but also pride at the performance tonight as well.
00:07
Yeah, absolutely. Really disappointed late on. Obviously, I don't think as a team we've done a hell of a lot wrong.
00:14
Just that little breakthrough in midfield. They've got it wide. He's come in and he's hit a worldie, so we're disappointed.
00:21
But I'm really proud of the performance and I thought we bit the woodwork twice late and our goal was a really well-worked goal.
00:28
So there's lots of positives, just we're all sort of feeling like there's two points dropped.
00:33
Yeah, obviously. And you sort of grew into the game in the second half, really seemed to take control.
00:39
So what was the message at half-time, obviously?
00:41
Yeah, the game was too open. Distances between front and back were too big.
00:46
Midfield was open. It was too easy for them. We didn't get to grips with what they were doing.
00:49
It was too easy for them to stroll into our midfield and then get around our box and create underlaps
00:54
and then they could start being braver. So we just needed to do that tactically,
00:59
bass a night at half-time with the analysis team.
01:01
And I thought we locked it down a lot better second half and obviously grew in the game.
01:06
Yeah, so you obviously grew into it in the second half and then get the lead.
01:09
It was a really nice move, obviously started by Tariq, plays it into Jack.
01:12
And then Josh Kelly finishes it off, but really nice move there.
01:16
Yeah, Josh was that one player who I always felt like something might happen when he got the ball.
01:22
Obviously, he nearly put us 2-0 up. Then moments changed games, he shot it to the post for 2-0.
01:28
So yeah, obviously we're all disappointed with that, but it is what it is.
01:32
As you say, chances for the second.
01:35
And it will feel like obviously two points got away with the nature of the late goal.
01:38
But I would say plenty to build on and plenty of positives.
01:41
Yeah, it's gone now. We're all down about the equaliser.
01:45
We've got two days to recover. Wednesday, Saturdays are tough.
01:49
And obviously, as you've seen, we've got a couple of niggles.
01:52
So we've got to recover, get the boys ready.
01:54
And we've got to go and put a high level of performance in to get something on Saturday.
01:58
Yeah, and even after the equaliser, you nearly won it again with hitting the crossfire with that great free kick.
02:02
Yeah, I was looking at the movement in the box because I thought we might try a little clip
02:06
and see if we can get on the end of it.
02:07
And then I've just seen this rocket come by.
02:09
And I think the keeper even got a little touch to it.
02:12
So, yeah, really great strike. Jake's got that in the locker.
02:15
And unfortunately, it would have been a nice way to win the game.
02:18
But I feel for the boys because they deserved, with the effort, to take more out of the game.
02:22
Obviously, Oli Sanderson had to come off in the first half after that nasty clash of heads with Chin.
02:27
But he didn't look like he was concussed though.
02:29
No, no, he's not concussed.
02:30
He's just got a black eye and a cut across his nose.
02:34
So we'll have to hope his eye won't swell up and assess it over the next couple of days.
02:39
And hopefully, you know, he can see, OK, and everything's fine.
02:43
And then he's in contention.
02:44
And Jack turned just minor?
02:46
Just cramping in his hamstring and calves.
02:48
We hope it's cramping anyway.
02:50
But it looked like it was that.
02:52
And Timmy Akinola had just a dead leg in his sort of glutes.
02:58
And it was getting harder.
02:59
And I knew it at half-time, but it was getting harder and harder to carry on.
03:03
Five unbeaten in the league now.
03:04
And obviously, last season, you had that sort of long unbeaten run.
03:06
So presumably, obviously, you'd have wanted the three tonight.
03:10
But, you know, you want to just try and build on this run and sort of keep it going.
03:12
Yeah, like I say, we're disappointed.
03:14
Four points, we felt like, you know, with two minutes to go, you felt four points out.
03:19
Rochdale South End's a wonderful return.
03:21
Instead, it's ended up two.
03:23
Keeps the unbeaten run going, but you're better off winning one than losing one.
03:25
So we're disappointed.
03:27
But I can't fault the effort, the togetherness of the group.
03:30
And we just need to try and take that forward and keep it going.
03:33
And obviously, with the Wednesday, Saturday now, it's going to be a quick turnaround to Tamworth.
03:37
And obviously, with the pitch there and sort of their long throws and the way they play,
03:41
you obviously know what you're in for.
03:42
I'm assuming you'll sort of need the whole squad and be ready for that.
03:45
Yeah, it's going to be tough.
03:46
Really tough game.
03:47
Really good at what they do.
03:48
And we've got to try and come up with a way of dealing with that and playing and being very good when we've got the ball.
03:54
It's not easy, so we'll get to work on that and hopefully try and put to bed any disappointment from tonight.
