00:01Neil, a 1-1 draw against York City and a really encouraging performance.
00:04There must be plenty of positives to take from that today.
00:07Yeah, the boys executed the game plan really well,
00:11despite getting back at half past 12 on Saturday night
00:15and then being in for training yesterday
00:17and trying to do a walk-through session on what we might encounter.
00:21But they did it and I thought we limited York to very little.
00:26Yeah, obviously a really quick turnaround from Saturday.
00:28I guess a lot of information to take on board, but they sort of did that.
00:31And the back three today, obviously I guess for this specific game
00:35and everything seemed to work pretty well out there.
00:37Yeah, we had to make sure the middle of the pitch was strong.
00:39We had to play the game. It would have been stupid of us having played Saturday, Monday,
00:44knowing York were here and they were fresh with no game on Saturday.
00:47It would have been stupid of us to try and press high and make the pitch big
00:51because they would have opened us up.
00:52So we had to have zones where we pressed.
00:55We had to play a slightly counter-attacking game, which worked well for the goal.
00:58And it's unfortunate that we haven't taken all three because their goals come from a ludicrous moment
01:04where our player gets a head injury, their player gets booked,
01:07our player doesn't get a physio on, gets up, gets on with it and still has to come off the pitch.
01:12And we have to spend 30-odd seconds with 10 men and that's where the goal comes from.
01:16I don't know where they make these rules up, but whoever's making them up needs to get away from football.
01:20I was going to say, it's a rule that's come in that you have to come off and you sort of get punished.
01:24You get punished, so somebody can give you a bad injury and you get punished for it.
01:27And if the physio comes on, I get that because they're trying to stop time wasting and physio's coming on.
01:32Our player gets an injury, the physio doesn't even get up.
01:35It's an impossible situation.
01:39And also, it was slightly fortuitous as well, wasn't it really?
01:42Yeah, of course it was. He's tried to cross it and the keeper's done nothing wrong.
01:45It's just gone right in the top corner. It's one of them moments you can't do much about.
01:48But when your luck's down, your luck's down.
01:50So yeah, you say, not much luck at the moment, but loads of positives to take from today
01:54and use that as a base to really build on going forward.
01:57Yeah, from the lads' point of view, we've just got to keep the consistency.
02:00We can't have that one week and not the next.
02:03So we need to rest the legs.
02:07They've had a really tough, long travel in all over Bank Holiday weekend.
02:11We need to give them a day or so to get their legs back
02:14and then we need to get to work on the next one.
02:16And then the goal, Aaron Drew obviously took a slight deflection, but a nice move.
02:19And obviously, yeah, it was deserved really with the way you were playing.
02:22Yeah, it's part of the plan was if we can win the ball back in the middle third and break.
02:26That's what we would do.
02:28The game plan worked really, really well, but it needs the players to execute it.
02:31And going back to Saturday's game, you know, when I feel like I'm trying to defend the team
02:36and give reasons why we lost the game, you know, basic errors cost us the game.
02:41The actual work between the boxes on Saturday was very good.
02:45Limited Hartlepool to very little and was well in the game.
02:48Just don't do our jobs and don't see our jobs through today.
02:51We did and we get a different result.
02:53And when you're going to get the fortuitous equaliser, I mean, heads could go down,
02:56but they didn't at all, did they?
02:57I mean, I know the character's never in question, but it was sort of, you know, it was.
03:00Well, the character has been in question because every time we've conceded,
03:03we've then conceded again.
03:04So the character has been in question.
03:06We talked about how we reset, how we take moments in games that don't go our way
03:12and work together to get through that next 10 minutes after it.
03:16So we've made a step in the right direction, but it's one game and, you know,
03:20we can't get excited about getting one point in one game.
03:23We've got to sort of say, look, well done, but that's got to be it now.
03:28We can't have any more of what we had in the first four.
03:31Yeah.
03:32I mean, it's all about sort of standards and consistency, isn't it?
03:34It's kind of showing what you can do and that's got to be on a consistent basis.
03:37You know, you're going to lose games, but you've got to lose honestly.
03:39And we haven't lost honestly in our games.
03:42Maybe the Wildstone one we did, we haven't lost honestly.
03:45And we've got to take today and at least try and take it forward.
03:50Not easy because every game's got a different challenge.
03:52Obviously has been a really busy schedule.
03:54Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Monday, Sam Ashford's come off injured.
03:57Obviously, Oli, Effiong as well, injuries.
04:00I mean, I guess you've just got to count the bodies and, you know,
04:03sort of rest, recover and do all the right things.
04:05Yeah, we've got to do that.
04:06And the club and the people above me are working really, really hard
04:10to bring in fresh talent and players that can add to what we've got.
04:14They're not, they're certainly not sitting there saying, get on with it.
04:17They're working hard and the support from the top in, you know,
04:20since the start of the season has been really, really good.
04:22So they'll continue to do that and continue to try and give us
04:26what we need to be successful.
04:28I see. So build up, you know, this week for a long trip to Morecambe.
04:32Well, you know, obviously no easy game at this level.
04:35They've obviously, you know, just started the season one and then lost today.
04:38But, you know, you have to obviously be at it and match the standards there.
04:41Yeah, of course do. And like I say, it's all about us getting levels of performance.
04:46You know, you can't guarantee football results, but you can guarantee levels of performance.
04:49Today they were high, but Saturday will be a totally different game.
04:53So I hope can be done for competition.
04:55Let's go.
04:57Okay.
04:59So, what's up?
05:01Yeah.
05:02Let's go.
05:03Now we'll be back on it and we'll be back on it.
05:07Yep.
05:08So we'll be back on it.
05:09But we'll be back on it.
05:10And it's not on it.
05:12Okay.
05:13Let's go.
05:15Now we'll be back on it.
05:18Now we'll be back on it.
