Three pedestrians have been rushed to hospital after being hit by a car in Sydney’s West. The two cars collided at an intersection in Blacktown. One of the vehicles mounted a curb and injured pedestrians on the footpath.
00:00Three people received critical injuries when two cars collided with each other in this intersection behind me here in Blacktown in Sydney's west.
00:10Police say the incident occurred at 9am this morning when the two cars travelling in opposite directions collided with each other.
00:16The first car hitting the back of the second car and that second car then mounting the kerb and colliding with three pedestrians.
00:23Police say all of those pedestrians were men aged in their 20s and 30s and have been rushed to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.
00:32The two drivers of each car were taken to hospital as well for mandatory testing and questioning by police.
00:39As you can see behind me one of those cars is on its side. There's a significant amount of damage here at this intersection, an indication of the force behind this crash.
00:48We've also seen CCTV footage from a local business showing the incident itself, its sudden and forceful nature.
00:57Police have blocked off the road for a number of hours this morning to gather evidence and try to piece together what happened here.
01:04They've also appealed to the public for anyone with dash cam footage or witness accounts to try and understand how this crash occurred.
