00:00Okay, for the last game on this list, we're going to be ending this with a bang, the cream of the crop, the pinnacle of platforming perfection, a third-person shooter mixed with platforming elements at the gameplay, and a very compelling story from a franchise that hasn't been the same since 2010.
00:17And that is Ratchet and Clank, rip the park!
00:21Get off me ship, you creature!
00:25Don't you think it's weird to feel a celebration for us?
00:28Have it, mateys?
00:30Attack!
00:31Look, Abelts!
00:33Oh my god, we haven't done anything to love again in years.
00:38If it drove, the mixture will fix it!
00:42Wow.
00:43Hero style!
00:46Pass.
00:49Can't anyone print instruction manuals anymore?
00:51Yeah, it's a masterpiece.
00:53I'm giving this one 9 out of 10 already.
00:56Yeah, that's it.
00:57Okay, here's a little backstory on me.
01:00I grew up with the PS2 and the GBA during my early years of gaming.
01:04My first game was Pokemon Leaf Green on the GBA.
01:07A good introduction into Pokemon, but my first console game was Ratchet and Clank Going Commando on the PS2.
01:14And thanks to that game, I got to try out the first game, and then the third game, and then Deadlocked.
01:19And that's where I became a PlayStation fan.
01:22I've played every Ratchet and Clank installment in its entire history.
01:26Minus the Secret Agent Clank and the Jabba Phone game.
01:29I mean, I wasn't running a single digits.
01:31I wasn't even allowed to have a flip phone.
01:33But this franchise, to me, was my Mario for PlayStation.
01:36I still played the other games that PlayStation released.
01:39I was able to still play Nintendo's own games on the Nintendo DS as well.
01:43But then, I finally got my first ever Nintendo console called the Wii.
01:47And I finally played a couple of Mario games on there.
01:50But even then, nothing from the 2000 and 2010 will ever hit my childhood nostalgia like PlayStation did.
01:57Except for Kirby, that is just one exception.
02:01Ratchet and Clank is a third-person shooter and a platformer game that stayed the same ever since the second one.
02:07The first one is so different from the others, but it's still one of my favorite games ever.
02:11This franchise has been alive for at least 19 years in total.
02:15And it's a big surprise that Insomniac is still keeping this franchise alive for a long time.
02:21Even though most of the team who made the other series, like Sly Cooper and the Jak and Daxter series,
02:27pretty much ended those series in their own terms,
02:30or just abandoned it because they didn't like where those franchises going.
02:34Although, you pretty much know what happens to long-running franchises that keep going for years to come.
02:39The franchise pretty much become a shell of itself, getting bad or worse in most areas,
02:44whether it's the story of the games, new gameplay, or mechanics that pretty much are awful,
02:49and a very rushed development of the games.
02:51Normally, the new future games are not actually bad, though.
02:55It's just that the newer games in the series started to be plagued with all these problems.
02:59And with all those problems, one game pretty much solidifies everything wrong with how the franchises continue in the modern day.
03:07One game pretty much solidifies all the problems that made the old fans feel jaded and unhappy to where Insomniac took this franchise.
03:15And that is Ratchet and Clank on PS4.
03:18Although, on the surface, this actually looks not so bad.
03:22It plays so great, the visuals and the controls are pretty much perfected as the Ratchet and Clank game can get.
03:28It also recreates a bunch of old levels from the PS2 game with new original levels.
03:33And it has a production level that is the same as some modern video games and movies.
03:37But when you actually start digging in deeper to the game, this game is the most hated Ratchet and Clank game to ever exist.
03:45It doesn't even matter if there are actually Ratchet and Clank games that are worse than this.
03:49Because this series started out as a mockery towards capitalism, celebrities, and even corporations.
03:55And now, look at what happened to this series in the modern day.
03:58Getting commercialized?
04:00Making meta jokes that six-year-olds will laugh at?
04:03A story so generic that I'd rather watch a Disney movie instead?
04:06A bunch of random generic characters voiced by celebrities that people will never care about?
04:12Outdated references that make you want to shit out of your entire organs?
04:16And worst of all, becoming the thing that they mocked at in the past?
04:19Everything that Ratchet and Clank built up to be is now unrecognizable.
04:37Just so they can market it to a mainstream film for general audiences.
04:41Unfortunately, it didn't work out as they intended.
04:44Well, unless you're talking about the game.
04:47Because it took oversized matter sales numbers.
04:50And with how Exomniac was putting their efforts into a Spider-Man game for PS4,
04:54it was the best-selling game that they ever made in years.
04:57Which made the PS4 game a sign that the franchise has ended on a sad whimper.
05:02No longer becoming the iconic series that Exomniac is remembered for.
05:06And now, this company is going to be the Spider-Man devs for years to come.
05:11And Ratchet and Clank has just been thrown into the trash.
05:14Just like with Sly Cooper, Jack and Daxter, Ape Escape, and many other old PlayStation franchises.
05:20Well, that was until during a PS5 console showcase where, out of nowhere,
05:26a trailer for a Space Avenger game was revealed.
05:29And we didn't even know what it was going to be about.
05:32Or what the game is called.
05:33Until Ratchet and Clank came out of a dimensional portal and rode on a bug and was flying through a dimensional world and ended up separated again.
05:43And then, out of nowhere, at the end, a female Lomax comes out of nowhere.
05:47And then...
05:49Ratchet and Clank ripped the party.
05:51For the first time ever since the PS3, we're finally getting a Ratchet and Clank game releasing one year after.
06:00And it was going to be awesome.
06:02However, there are actually still people who kept their expectations low, while others are even skeptical.
06:08The fans were still happy that Ratchet and Clank was still alive.
06:11But even then, others still felt like that this is going to fall into the same trappings as the PS4 game.
06:17There are still biases in the community as well.
06:20Especially the big creators.
06:22So with the months rolling by, and with June 2021 coming close, the game finally released on PS5.
06:30Now here comes the biggest questions.
06:32Did the game actually deliver?
06:34Were the fans right to be hyped for it?
06:36Did the game fall into the same trappings like the 2016 game?
06:39Were all these skeptics and doubts about the game justified?
06:44Well, you see, um...
06:47Rift Apart?
06:49Oh, it was so good.
06:51Everyone, this game pretty much blew all of the old Ratchet and Clank games out of the water.
06:56The story?
06:57Emotional and compelling.
06:58The characters?
06:59Absolutely written so much better than it did in the old games.
07:03Twists and turns that nobody had saw coming.
07:05A much more capable recurring feeling.
07:07New levels assigned that actually is very engaging.
07:10New mechanics that opened up the way for platforming and combat.
07:14The game has so many secrets that you could go out of the way to get...
07:17And there's barely any in-depth videos on Rift Apart.
07:20Not even after Astro Bot released.
07:24And that breaks my heart so much.
07:26Cause I see the light!
07:29Or...
07:30I almost wouldn't have.
07:32I mean, I was still hyped for the game.
07:34But my fears and worries about how the game would turn out was not too different to other fans who felt the same way.
07:41Here, tell me if you had the same thoughts before Rift Apart release.
07:44I said it before, but Ratchet and Clank 2016 felt more like a game trying to pander to the audience that probably won't even care about the game or even remember it a year after they played it.
07:56So for a bunch of old fans who were so jaded after the 2016 game, in their eyes, Rift Apart doesn't seem like a game they're very interested in or a game that actually will bring them back to the series.
08:09And even then, I was even thinking the same thing as well.
08:13I was so happy that Ratchet and Clank is still alive and well.
08:17Yet at the same time, I was feeling that I wasn't really wanting a Ratchet and Clank for the PS5.
08:23Especially if it turns out that this game is pretty much short and it's gonna be the only game for the system.
08:30Especially since every single game is getting released on PC, my interest in wanting a PS5 pretty much dwindled downward.
08:38I still had a little tiny hope that I could get a PS5 just to play Rift Apart.
08:45Well, at least I would have if it weren't for the scalpers.
08:49Because you all know when pre-orders were available for the console, scalpers were able to scalp them so easily.
08:56And we all know that the scalpers used the second-hand market to price these PS5s to a ridiculous amount of money that nobody can afford at the time due to the pandemic.
09:06And I know there are a couple of people who would be asking,
09:09But Luke, there actually were sales numbers to show that Ratchet and Clank ripped apart and sold very well.
09:16There's nothing even to worry about. Ratchet and Clank is doing fine.
09:19And yeah, that is really true though. Ratchet and Clank is very profitable than it was in the 2010s.
09:25But like, are there actually videos going in-depth about the weapon selections, the mechanics, the platforming, the storytelling, and pretty much everything else in between?
09:36From what I looked up on big YouTubers, or at least smaller YouTubers, I barely seen any of them.
09:42And most YouTubers that are mostly into platformers only talked about Astropod, not even Ratchet and Clank, and not even Sackboy itself.
09:51And mostly the newer videos though that I've seen are pretty much just the 2016 game in the PS2 series.
09:57I hate to actually say this though, but the buzz around the part was nothing on the same level that the 2016 game got.
10:05And even when the game finally released in June of 2021, the conversation about it became less about how good the game is and how to redeem Ratchet and Clank.
10:14And more or less who actually got a PS5 to play it.
10:17Truthfully, my interest in wanting a PS5 to play Ripped Apart pretty much went down the drain.
10:23I mean, why should I get a console with a couple of games I want to play when I could just play my backlog on PC?
10:30And so, I think I made my decision final.
10:32I won't be able to play Ripped Apart, and I'm just going to look up some videos on YouTube, just spoiling myself.
10:39Until in May of 2023, when PlayStation dropped this out of nowhere.
10:46And so, I waited until July 23rd, and finally got the game on Steam.
10:51But now, two years has passed since the PC fort.
10:54What do I think about it right now?
10:57Well, I got 67 hours on the game, and I think you all should play it right now.
11:01Like, this Ratchet and Clank game is nothing like the other games from the PS3 era, to a point where it is actually a different game for the better.
11:09And there is one thing you should take away from this video.
11:13That's it.
11:13They made a game with a story that is for long-time fans of the PS2 games, and a game for newcomers who aren't familiar with the series.
11:21But thanks to a new storyline, starting two new protagonists.
11:25Rivet and Kit.
11:27Rivet is the Lombax of this dimension, and is a part of the Resistance trying to defeat the Emperor who is ruler of the entire galaxy.
11:34While our heroes, Ratchet and Clank, are given a big celebration, hosted by Quark, Skit, and P.T.
11:41Well, Clank too, but we'll get to there.
11:43Ratchet is pretty concerned to celebrate, since it's been like around 8 years, and he doesn't even want to show his face to the public.
11:51But Clank's assured him that everything is going to be okay, and nothing will go wrong.
11:55Well, everything did went well, until Goons 4 Less started to raid the party.
12:00And worst of all, Clank's special gift to Ratchet is to repair Dimensionator, so he can find his family and his kind.
12:08Despite the fact the Dimensionator was actually causing problems with our heroes before.
12:12And then, Dr. Nefarious steals the Dimensionator and causes mischief with it, so he can find a dimension where he always wins.
12:20And things go very well.
12:23And now, Clank is stuck with Rivet.
12:26Ratchet is all by himself, and the entire group's mission is to find enough parts and tools to build another Dimensionator so both Ratchet and Clank can get back home.
12:35And, yeah, River Arm did that while I was done with one of the missions in the Circus.
12:40She went back to normal after that, don't worry.
12:43Meanwhile, Ratchet stumbles into another character, who he names Kit.
12:47And they both team up together, until Ratchet reunites with Clank at Circus to build another Dimensionator.
12:53And that's the plot of the game.
12:54It's not complicated, but not too simple.
12:57And I think they executed it very well.
13:00And it actually has a few twists and turns that I never expected.
13:03We'll get into that soon.
13:05But for now, how is the gameplay?
13:07Well, you go...
13:08Pew, pew, pew, pew, smash that.
13:09Woo, woo, woo, ba, ba, ba.
13:11You blast through enemies like robots, goons, and insects as you explore through beautiful levels.
13:17You also have a selection of weapons, either normal or wacky.
13:21A bomb glove that actually deals extra damage after impact.
13:24And a drone that shoots bombs at enemies, but also flies in a straighter line to where you aimed it.
13:30Then there are the ones that freezes enemies, and the one where you throw out fungi pallets that shoot at enemies.
13:35But my most favorite one is the one that acts like a minigun in most games, with a twist of the minigun to shoot out a void that sucks in multiple enemies at once.
13:44The gameplay for it is very much the same as it was for 20 years.
13:48But I don't think that I would say that it was not polished, if the team didn't absolutely perfect the gameplay in the 2016 PS4 game with their own game engine.
13:58Spider-Man was their magnum opus.
14:01It was the best game they have ever made for a long time.
14:04So with the talented team of Spider-Man, they were brought in to help with Rift Apart.
14:09You could tell which team from Insomniac worked on a Ratchet & Clank game.
14:13PS4 or the 2016 game was the old devs from the Future Series final game that they worked on.
14:19While Rift Apart is the new team's first Ratchet & Clank game, and it did it with the polish of Spider-Man.
14:24The platforming is so miraculously well designed as well as the combat.
14:29Swinging from hook shots, wall running above certain depth, dashing through enemies' attacks or shields,
14:35using a speeder to dash through acid and waters and huge levels, exploring the secret passages to find gold bolts,
14:43and using the game's main mechanic called Rift Tethering and Rift Jumping.
14:47With the addition of having a dash move and Rift Tethering gives the combat a little more difficulty,
14:52using a dash ability to avoid enemy attacks or hazards,
14:56while using the Rift Tethering to jump to a higher platform or to either reach an enemy far away where you can't reach.
15:03But moving to a different platform is not what your Rift Tethering ability would be doing,
15:08as you use it to enter through dimensional pockets and challenge yourself with small platforming challenges,
15:13either by using your gadgets, your brain, or sometimes you use your weapons to solve a platforming puzzle.
15:19You will also go through actual Rift and end up in another part of the level,
15:23either for a cinematic spectacle, a challenge, or either with a boss around one third through the fight.
15:29But the game only does that sparingly, just at the beginning, two planets, and at a few points when it's almost at the end of the game.
15:37But, my most favorite mechanic in the game is the dimensional crystals.
15:41Just swing your wrench, or hammer at it, and then...
15:45You're transported to another version of the same level.
15:49This was actually one of my favorite mechanics, since it gets used a lot more than Rift Jumping.
15:54In Brazard Prime, you can actually switch to one version of the level that wasn't destroyed,
15:59which refers to another area, and head back to the original area that was destroyed.
16:03One part that I absolutely love with this mechanic is where you're grind railing in the level,
16:08and you have to hit the crystal to switch to an alternative dimension version of that grind rail challenge to progress.
16:14Or, as another example, Cordelian.
16:16One of the spooky levels where you explore one of the Emperor's Underwater Factory,
16:21in which you explore an alternate dimension version of where it looks abandoned, and nobody's salvaging this place.
16:26That is until you found out that there's a biomorph named Juice hunting you down,
16:31and a robot named Junkapod who is taking care of this creature,
16:35despite the fact that it's attacking Junkapod.
16:38Yet, you come back to the same dimensional place that is fully optional,
16:41and after one misstep,
16:43you soon find out that Juice was being tortured for his bioelectricity.
16:48After that, you free him out of this person,
16:50and he helps you escape this place,
16:52and he helps you with,
16:53uh,
16:54wait,
16:55what the hell is he fucking doing?
16:56And so,
16:57both Juice 1 and Juice 2 powers up the force machine to make another dimensionator.
17:02Although, do you know what's so funny?
17:04I haven't even mentioned the music in the game,
17:06which is just so good.
17:08I know that there are a few contractors that still say that they wish they were bringing back the way they made music in the older games,
17:14but I still think that the soundtrack is fantastic on its own.
17:17The main theme is pretty much my favorite one out of the game,
17:21but the visuals of this game?
17:23Oh my god!
17:25It looks so beautiful!
17:27Like, seriously,
17:28it almost looks like a beautiful painting made by a really professional artist.
17:32Although, people still say that this game looks so unbearably ugly,
17:37especially since the game started to go through a somewhat realistic art style
17:41that pretty much are going to start feeling outdated in the years to come.
17:44But you can't deny that the artist didn't actually try to make the game look as beautiful as it is,
17:50especially since it was released on the PS5.
17:53But,
17:53do I actually have problems with this game?
17:56Are there any flaws that makes this game not a 10 out of 10?
18:00Well, I kinda do have a few problems,
18:02so we'll start with the gameplay and then talk about the story.
18:05For the gameplay and content,
18:07I said I wish there was a little more in this game,
18:10like two more planets to explore with more golden bolts and raritanium to collect,
18:15three new weapons in the game,
18:16and maybe a post-game for challenge mode.
18:18And I think this game has the easiest achievements to get than the other Passage Reclan games,
18:24either on PS3 or PS4.
18:26The dimensional pocket area should have had harder dimensional challenges
18:30that really test your brain and your platforming skills.
18:33A couple of old weapons like the warmonger should have been replaced with new ones,
18:37or variants of the old weapons that have been barely in most games.
18:41And the Rhino is pretty much the most disappointing Rhino in the entire series,
18:45since its damage output is the worst one than any other Rhino,
18:49that it doesn't even finish bossing in a couple of hits.
18:53And worst of all,
18:54its ammo capacity is the worst one than any other Rhino in the entire franchise.
18:58You pretty much have to collect a bunch of golden bullets to unlock the infinite ammo
19:03tree just so you can actually use the Rhino.
19:05I mean,
19:06like the Rhino does have little cameos that they actually introduced from other series,
19:10but like that's it.
19:12The Rhino 8 is very disappointing.
19:15Okay, now for the story of the game.
19:18I think that is the best story that Ratchet and Clank had in a long time.
19:21Pretty much ever since a crack in time, and maybe into the Nexus,
19:26one of the most prevalent characters in this story is Riven and Kit.
19:29Riven is part of the Resistance member who has doubted her ability to fight back against the Dictator
19:35and a mindless follower who does everything they do to please their leader.
19:39She lives in a gelatinian factory with a bunch of animal species called the Morse.
19:44She never likes robots and just does everything on her own, even with the Resistance.
19:48But later on, she actually tries to work with Clank when she finds out that Clank himself has another
19:54Lombax with him, while also trying to work with the group by finding the Dimensional Crystal from the
20:00Bissauro planet.
20:01And when the Crystal gets destroyed after stopping the drill from destroying the alternative version
20:06of this planet, she suggests that both her and Clank head to another planet named Torn 5 to search for
20:12the Fixer so that he can repair the Crystal and we can get back on track.
20:16And thanks to the performance of Jennifer Hale, she makes her character feel more like a jaded person
20:22who doesn't like to interact with strangers, but she still cares about the people that had taken care
20:27of her and she tries to help people who are in need, especially if there are robots.
20:31Meanwhile, Ratchet on his own visits the planet Zavali to find an apprentice who is named Kit,
20:38because he needs to get to the Archives so he can figure out how to build a Dimensionator.
20:42Although Ratchet needs to save a couple of grunks from Nefarious and then he'll be able to get to the Archives.
20:48Ratchet has gone through a lot of adventures, it's kind of been getting stale and has not gone anywhere.
20:54Ratchet trying to find his own Lombax race is a good premise, but Asomniac didn't even have a chance
21:00to cater to it for years to come, so they decided to do something a little bit different for Ratchet.
21:05For years, Ratchet has been saving the galaxy from evil threats and he's so comfortable with the way
21:10things is. So when Clank offered him a closure to his Quisp by giving him an easy way to find his Lombax
21:16kinds, Ratchet has doubts in his dreams the media has raised. He loves what he has done with the
21:22galaxy and is afraid of losing everyone he cares for, especially when Clank was there to help him
21:27for years since he was alone not knowing what was out there in the galaxy. He even had doubts that his
21:33family is going to be very proud of him and his accomplishments. But despite all that, he still
21:38proceeds with Dimension to get back home and find his race. And I think this game's portrayal of Ratchet
21:44was done so much better than any other game did. There isn't a lot to talk about Clank other than
21:49that he is a great partner with Riven. Although Clank losing one of his arms in the beginning,
21:54it very much helped Riven's character arc in a way that shows them both of their struggles,
21:59with them having problems, yet they still keep going until the very end. Plus, at the end of Torrent
22:045 where the Fixer is pretty much on the edge of killing Riven and Clank, Clank improvises and told
22:10the Fixer that he was already fixed, because despite being broken, he's still himself. The
22:16Fixer also comes in terms with themselves despite the fact that he's destroyed beyond belief. In fact,
22:22Riven even learned some lessons from this. So in terms of characterization, both Riven and Ratchet
22:27are balanced in a way that brings in newcomers to the series while also bringing back some of the old
22:32fans who hasn't played a Ratchet and Clank game in years. Other side characters like the Monks, Skid,
22:38Leperi, and Captain Autumn are utilized very well in this game. Each of them are dimensional
22:43counterparts of recognizable characters from this franchise, including the enemy's Goons for Less.
22:50But the most important character in this game is the Clank's dimensional counterpart named Kit.
22:55When you first meet her, she looks like another robot that is not interested in working with Ratchet.
23:00She does offer to help after our agreement to split up if things go wrong, but when we get to the
23:05archives and things get too chaotic, we see the destructive side of her. And we learn a little
23:10bit more that she hurt someone and almost got them killed, and she feels this guilt to this day.
23:16So Kit shun herself into folly so that she doesn't hurt an innocent creature ever again,
23:22because all she is is a weapon built to hurt people, and nothing more. Although, Ratchet kind of
23:28still has favored her, because she might actually be useful for the team. And so Kit stays with Ratchet
23:34until they finally reunite with Clank and Ratchet. And then here comes what happens after that.
23:40Nefarious actually caught up with them, steals the Dimensionator, Ratchet and Kit fights Nefarious,
23:45and then the Emperor comes in with a big huge surprise, and with him and his army, the Emperor invades
23:50Sargasso. And so Ratchet and Kit have to go back to their home planet before it is destroyed,
23:55while Ratchet and Clank has to search for one of the Resistance members named Captain Quantum.
24:00But then after saving Sargasso, we learn a little bit about what happened to Rift's arm.
24:05She was on a mission to get into the office, and she was almost about to get inside,
24:10where out of nowhere, a huge killing machine attacked her and pretty much destroyed one of
24:14her arms. And it turns out that Kit was responsible for Rift's injury. And then after headed back to the
24:20Folly, both Nefariouses had unfortunately got the Dimensional map. And with no choices left to do,
24:33Kit transforms into the War Machine, and Rift realizes that she was the one who was responsible
24:39for her injury. In which it made her go into the emotional outrage at Kit because she blew her arm off.
24:45Yet even then, Rift has to still save everyone from the Sword of Doom prison. And when Rift finally
24:51reunited with Clank and saved Ratchet and Kit, both Rift and Kit had an emotional outrage at each
24:57other just because she didn't want to help save the Multiverse. Even Rift scrutinized her for not
25:03being there in the beginning to help her. And so, Rift finally decided to cut ties with Kit,
25:08just so that Kit could just head back to Zephalia alone. And that part almost made me cry a little
25:15bit. Cause that scene almost reminds me of that one ending in Ratchet and Clank. Cause after Ratchet
25:21and Clank finally defeated Drek, Clank's arm actually got badly damaged. Ratchet pretty much brushes it off
25:27and said that it's not a big deal. Then when Ratchet pretty much walks away, Clank feels like that he's not
25:34needed anymore cause he's useless. And so, Clank walks away with a broken arm and then out of nowhere,
25:42Ratchet actually does care for Clank and he offers to fix his arm. And that's not the only thing that
25:48Rift Apart reminded me of. In fact, Rift Apart actually lived in some of the older enemies from
25:54the Ratchet and Clank games. Rift turned into a giant war machine actually reminds me of the giant Clank
26:00fights in Ratchet and Clank. Now, it's a lot to take in I admit, but this story is still engaging even
26:06if it be a simple game for younger audiences. I mean, the story of Rift Apart is not really much
26:12of a masterpiece or a 10 out of 10. But like, I am being genuine when I tell you that Rift Apart
26:19was the most joy that I ever had in the game for a long time. Yes, Rift Apart. Not even Astro Bot gave me
26:27that same amount of joy when I finally played it. Listen, I am not saying that the other games from
26:33the past era never gave me any amount of joy. But even so, Astro Bot is just so similar to Mario's
26:403D platformer games, especially Galaxy. In fact, we've gotten more games from indie devs that cater
26:47so much to the Nintendo fans that grew up with Nintendo's old games that there barely any games
26:54that actually catered to PlayStation fans that only grew up with the games that they released.
27:00I mean, sure, there's Ape Escape and LittleBigPlanet, Crash and Spyro, but so many of these indie devs
27:07are pushing the platformer genre to new heights with these silly little colorful games that I
27:13barely see anyone try to take a stab at that somewhat edgy era with a really compelling story
27:19as well. I always dreamed of seeing my generation to start creating games they want to make. Like
27:25in any game that is a spiritual successor to Sly Cooper, the old Ratchet and Clank games,
27:30Jak and Daxter, Infamous, and many others from the PS2 era. But I think it's too soon to say that it
27:36will never happen though. I mean, Akeem Bot is pretty much Ratchet and Clank, and Gear Grid is
27:42literally just Jak and Daxter, and that one isn't even out yet. So we're almost getting close to that.
27:49So in conclusion, Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart is an amazing game, and it is one of my favorite
27:54platformers out of all of them. I know not everyone is going to think the same way about this game like
28:00I do. And that's okay. If you were one of those old fans or new fans who stayed away from this due to
28:07the Ratchet and Clank 2016 game alienating your view of the entire franchise, I don't blame you,
28:13but at least consider your purchase of Rift Apart to be an investment for these old series from the
28:19PS2 era to return. I mean, I have no idea how they did a 180 after the disaster of the 2016 game,
28:26but if it weren't for the success of the PS4 game, the complaints and feedback that they got,
28:32and with Spider-Man PS4's success, Rift Apart wouldn't end up the way that it did.
28:36I now have full confidence in this team that the next Ratchet and Clank game
28:41would probably be as good, if not better, than Rift Apart. Time will tell if that's the case.
28:47I mean, really, Insomniac's game lineup for this decade has leaked online,
28:52and we're not just getting another Spider-Man game, but there's a Wolverine and an X-Men game
28:57coming out this decade before the next Ratchet and Clank game. Waiting until 2029 for the next installment
29:04feels like an excruciating wait for another platformer game that shouldn't need that
29:09amount of development time. But at the same time, there are actually a couple of contenders for
29:13that argument. DK Bonanza took over eight years to get finished, and development had to be moved
29:19over to the Switch, too, since the Switch wasn't powerful enough to run the game. But the wait was
29:24worth it, and it was one of, if not the best platformers to ever be released. Silksong took around
29:31eight years to finally get finished and released. It started out as like a second playable character
29:36DLC, but the game got so ambitious that they decided to finally make it into a separate full
29:41release, and it became the most hyped game in the gaming space ever since. So if Exomniac needs that
29:48most development time to make this game the best it could be, then so be it. I'll be playing this game
29:54from start to end and do everything that this game has to offer, and I'm going to be there picking it
29:59up day one. Well, okay, maybe not at launch though, maybe when it comes to PC, and then I will be able
30:07to play it.
