00:00Now, Nancy Pelosi is ending her nearly 40-year career in Congress, the 85-year-old Californian
00:08Democrat and the first woman to serve as Speaker of the House says she won't seek re-election
00:13next year. Let's get more now from Bloomberg's Megan Scully, who covers Congress, and there's
00:19no shortage, I guess, of octogenarians there. She's also still sticking around until she's
00:24like 87, right? Yes, so it appears that she will be serving out this term, which ends in
00:31January of 2027, so another year and a half almost that she will be in Congress. But certainly
00:39this is the beginning of the end of a truly remarkable career, the first woman Speaker of
00:45the House. I remember being actually in the House chamber the day that she was sworn in
00:50as Speaker. And she brought children up to the lectern to really mark the occasion. And
00:57she has been at the forefront of Democrats' battles from Obamacare to Biden's big spending
01:05bill with the climate incentives and other priorities that was passed during the first
01:11two years of his term.
