00:00Two weeks ago something happened that changed my life. Something I thought would never happen to me,
00:05could never happen to me, happened. I was attacked by one of my dogs and that attack resulted in
00:10injuries to my right arm and my face, including the partial loss of my right upper lip. It was
00:17devastating. It still feels devastating. We had Scout since he was six weeks old. Scout was very
00:23loved and we miss him. After trying everything, she was forced to make a heartbreaking decision.
00:28We did have to put him down. Please understand that it was one of the hardest decisions that
00:32we've ever had to make. I miss my dog, even after everything. I know that he wasn't a bad dog.
00:40I don't know why he did this, but I couldn't risk this happening to anyone ever again.
00:44People wanted to know what happened to make him bite. It was a normal Tuesday night. I was getting
00:49ready for bed. Our dog was laying on the bedroom floor. He usually sleeps up in our room, but he
00:54wasn't asleep. He was relaxed. He was laying on his side. But when I came in the room,
00:58he lifted his head and, you know, looked at me and then his tail was also wagging. And I went over
01:03to him. My usual fashion was giving him pats. I patted his face. I patted his head. I was patting
01:09down his back. And then I started patting his belly and rubbing his belly. And then it was just
01:14very sudden. It was just in my face. Her older pit bull was finally the one who stopped the attack.
01:20I don't remember feeling him bite my lip. I just remember feeling a spray all over my chest.
01:29Put my arm up to kind of grab and then also push the dog away. And he latched onto my forearm. And I
01:36tried to push him off of me. I tried to pull my arm out of his mouth and I couldn't. Our older senior dog,
01:43who was a 10-year-old pit bull, came running into the room. I don't know if she bit Scout or if she
01:49just ran at him and touched him. But whatever she did was enough to distract him to let my arm go.
01:54And I ran downstairs to get my husband. She knew there was damage, but the extent of it shocked her.
01:59And my husband called 911. They had asked me if I'd seen my face. And I said yes,
02:04because I had seen my face, but I thought that my lip was like hanging off. That's when they told me
02:10that there was nothing left for them to reattach. We did find my lip later on our bedroom floor,
02:18which was really gut-wrenching because that made it so much more real.
02:25She tried everything she could for her beloved dog, but nothing worked.
02:29We did try to re-home him to a family we know that has a farm and other great Pyrenees,
02:33but they didn't want to take him just because of the nature of what happened. So we made
02:41a choice to euthanize him. We thankfully were able to find a vet that would sedate him first.
02:47So I know that he didn't feel anything and he didn't suffer. But please know that we love our dog.
02:54And we miss him every day.
02:59We'll see you next time.
