00:00Elon Musk has tweeted out about a supposed conspiracy of Andrew Cuomo's placement on
00:06the New York ballot. He's got the wrong conspiracy. This isn't really about a fix
00:11at the last minute. The fix is much deeper in New York politics.
00:20Cuomo's at the bottom, mainly because he doesn't have a major party nomination.
00:24So Zilran Mamdami, the Democratic nominee, and Curtis Sliwa, the Republican nominee,
00:31get the top lines because those are the highest performing parties in New York state.
00:36Working Families Party is a real party of sorts. It also does okay statewide. So it's the number
00:42three line. The rest of the lines, most of them are bogus parties basically created for this race.
00:48Cuomo lost the lottery and wound up his line is at the bottom. Other people are
00:54higher up, but that's not where the fix is in. The fix was in much earlier, thanks to the city
01:00campaign finance board, which gives huge amounts of money matching funds to every candidate who
01:06enters the primary, who reaches a certain level in the polls and fundraising. And that encouraged
01:13the left wing candidates to all join in the race and then gang up on Cuomo in the primary.
01:20So he had decent amounts of money, but he was outnumbered, outspent, outmanned, outgunned.
01:27And that helped Mamdami beat him in the Democratic primary. Cuomo entered thinking it was going to be a
01:34walk for him. He was not ready for the machine, the left wing machine that slammed him. Beyond that,
01:41the fix goes to how New York allows all these minor parties, something that has been written in
01:48long ago for various reasons and has never been updated. It's exploited. And also allowing these
01:55minor parties to cross endorse allows the Working Families Party, which is basically a front for
02:01unions and for left wing interests to influence the Democratic Party. Most states don't allow this.
02:08New York shouldn't. All of this system helps the insiders, particularly in the city political world,
02:14because the voters haven't really been paying attention for a long time. If this is going to
02:19be cleaned up, the voters have to get real about demanding change.
