00:00Hallo, everyone.
00:02Good morning.
00:05Warm welcome to all of you
00:06to the Royal Enfield presentation today.
00:08Thank you very much for taking our time.
00:10I'm Govind Rajan, CEO of Royal Enfield
00:13and the Managing Director of Aisham Motors,
00:16the parent company of Royal Enfield.
00:19Every year, it's always a privilege
00:20to be here with all you people.
00:23Every year we get excited
00:24when we are here at EICMOD
00:25to talk about our journey,
00:28our inspirations,
00:29our products,
00:30our campaigns, everything.
00:32But this year,
00:33it's even more interesting
00:35and very exciting for all of us
00:37as Royal Enfield is entering
00:39into its 125th year of its journey.
00:43During this 125 years,
00:45Royal Enfield has faced
00:47a lot of challenges,
00:49some defining moments,
00:51but yet it stood all the storms
00:53and to be longest motorcycling
00:57in the world in continuous production.
01:01Today, before I start
01:03the entire presentation
01:04of what we have in store,
01:06to talk about the entire 125th year journey
01:09and there's a man
01:12who actually led it from the front
01:13to take the Royal Enfield
01:15to be the truly, truly global
01:17motorcycling company.
01:18I'm going to invite
01:20Mr. Siddhartha Lal,
01:21Executive Chairman
01:22of Aisha Motors
01:23to talk to us
01:24about the full journey
01:26and what we have in store
01:28for future.
01:29Siddhartha Lal.
01:29Thanks, Govind.
01:33I haven't been around
01:34for the entire 125 years,
01:37but thank you all for coming
01:41for what's obviously for us
01:44a very, very important moment,
01:48our 125th anniversary
01:50and we're celebrating it
01:52with all of you today
01:53and we have some very nice motorcycles,
01:56which is what we normally do
01:57and for you.
01:59Our history has had
02:00a lot of ups and downs.
02:02You know, we've had
02:03near-death experiences many times
02:06and in the last 125 years,
02:10but what's connected us always
02:13is our philosophy
02:15of pure motorcycling
02:17and you're going to see that
02:18around the stall today,
02:19the idea of pure motorcycling
02:22that's held consistent
02:23for the last 125 years
02:25and, you know,
02:27sometimes even though
02:28we are the longest
02:29motorcycle manufacturer
02:30or the oldest motorcycle manufacturer
02:32and continues production
02:33for 125 years,
02:35it feels like we're
02:36just getting started, right?
02:39And so for the 125th,
02:41we have a new crest,
02:42which you're going to see right here.
02:44It's going to pop up in a minute.
02:45There you go.
02:46With the Ashoka chakra to start
02:48and what's very telling
02:53is that 25 years ago
02:56when Royal Enfield turned 100,
03:00both Govin there and me,
03:03we were around
03:04at Royal Enfield in Chennai
03:05and we didn't celebrate
03:09our 100th anniversary.
03:11We had no time to do that.
03:13We were in deep despair.
03:16We were in doldrums.
03:17We had, you know,
03:19we were fighting for survival,
03:21fighting for our lives.
03:23Not us,
03:23but the motorcycle company.
03:25And literally,
03:27we had no time
03:28to celebrate it
03:29and it's...
03:31But even at that time,
03:34we had a single beacon of hope.
03:37There were a few people
03:38who loved our motorcycles.
03:39There were a few people
03:40who bought a Royal Enfield.
03:43You know,
03:43it had problems,
03:44it had issues,
03:44we didn't have distribution,
03:46none of that,
03:46but very good stuff.
03:47But they loved our motorcycles
03:50and that's what was our beacon always.
03:53That gave us hope,
03:54that gave us,
03:55you know,
03:57and we used to ride,
03:58both Govin and me
03:59and enjoy it thoroughly.
04:01And that's when we decided
04:03that, you know,
04:04as Royal Enfield,
04:06our ambitions are
04:07actually going to be modest.
04:08Even though we've done so well,
04:09our ambitions were always modest.
04:11We said,
04:12we don't want to be
04:13the biggest motorcycle company
04:14in the world.
04:14We just want to survive, actually.
04:16We don't have the fastest motorcycles.
04:19We don't want to have
04:20the widest range of motorcycles.
04:22But what we want to do
04:23is make fun,
04:25everyday,
04:26beautiful,
04:26gorgeous motorcycles.
04:28and it can't be that tough, right?
04:30And what we saw
04:33in the world around us,
04:34and this is the most important thing,
04:35what we saw in the world
04:36at that time,
04:3625 years ago,
04:37some of you,
04:38a lot of you were there,
04:39was in emerging markets,
04:42there was relatively bland
04:45100cc motorcycles
04:47that ruled the markets.
04:49And when we came here,
04:50we came to Aikpah,
04:51well,
04:52Intermort in those days
04:53or whatever it was called.
04:54and, of course,
04:56rode around.
04:57We saw beautiful,
04:59gorgeous European-American motorcycles,
05:02but they were really big
05:03and really expensive
05:04and not attainable
05:05for most people
05:06around the world.
05:07So,
05:08that's when
05:09things clicked for us
05:11because we were riding,
05:12we understood
05:13that we need to
05:15find
05:17or how tough can it be
05:19to make
05:20gorgeous motorcycles
05:21that you can use
05:23on an everyday basis,
05:24right?
05:24And you can travel,
05:25you can have adventure,
05:26but your commute to work
05:28also becomes
05:29much nicer
05:30and more enjoyable.
05:32And,
05:32that's what we
05:34took out,
05:35that we want to create
05:36the mid-size
05:39motorcycle space
05:39which was entirely
05:40underserved at the time
05:41in and around the world.
05:44But, of course,
05:45we had to start with India
05:46because that was our base,
05:47that's what we understood,
05:48that's what we knew
05:48and,
05:50that's what we grew
05:51and that's what we've done
05:53for the last,
05:54you know,
05:5625 years.
05:57We've grown that market.
05:59It was,
06:00the first 10 years
06:01were tough.
06:02We grew from 20,000,
06:03less than 20,000 units.
06:04In 2010,
06:05we were 50,000 units
06:06and then we hit
06:08an inflection.
06:09We just hit
06:10an absolute inflection
06:11and
06:12in the last 15 years
06:15from 50,000 units,
06:17we hit
06:171 million units
06:19last year
06:20in Royal Enfield.
06:21We sold,
06:21made and sold
06:221 million motorcycles.
06:26Okay.
06:27Thank you.
06:28We had to,
06:29yeah.
06:30And,
06:30and this year,
06:31in fact,
06:32we're growing at
06:32over 20% clip,
06:33right?
06:34So,
06:34this is going to go up
06:35much further
06:36and
06:37of course,
06:38most of that
06:39has come from India
06:40because
06:41that's where
06:42we were focused,
06:43that's where we grew
06:44the market
06:44from nothing
06:45to what it is now
06:46and
06:47but now
06:49since 2015
06:50when we launched
06:51our twins,
06:52our Interceptor
06:52Continental GT,
06:54we focus a lot
06:55internationally
06:55and
06:56even outside of India
06:58we've now
06:59last year
07:00out of these
07:011 million motorcycles
07:03100,000 motorcycles
07:05were
07:06outside of India.
07:09So,
07:09in countries
07:10all over the world,
07:12our biggest now
07:12is Brazil
07:13which is
07:14notoriously difficult
07:15as a lot of you know
07:16to get into that market
07:18with some
07:19big competitors
07:20looming
07:20but we've managed
07:22to make good
07:22breakthroughs there
07:23and do really well
07:24and
07:25this was because
07:27we had
07:28a single mission,
07:29right?
07:29All throughout
07:30these 25 years
07:31we had one mission
07:32which was
07:33to
07:34create this
07:36mid-sized motorcycle
07:37space
07:38with beautiful
07:39gorgeous
07:41motorcycles
07:41that are fun
07:42at everyday
07:44motorcycling
07:44and really
07:45what's happened
07:46is that
07:46it's a result
07:47of all of this
07:48from a single
07:49motorcycle
07:49the Bullitt
07:50we were known
07:51as the Bullitt
07:51company in India
07:52from that
07:54we've come to
07:5514 lovely
07:56motorcycles
07:57and you're going
07:57to see
07:57a 15th
07:59and 16th
07:59today
07:59out of
08:004 platforms
08:01here
08:024 engine
08:03platforms
08:03so
08:04that's our
08:05full range
08:06it's a modest
08:07range
08:07but it's a
08:08gorgeous range
08:08and
08:09it does the
08:10job for us
08:10they're all
08:11mid-sized bikes
08:11we're very
08:14excited about
08:15this
08:15and we're
08:15very excited
08:16about
08:16what the
08:17future holds
08:18for us
08:18of course
08:18as we look
08:19into the
08:20future
08:20you're going
08:21to see
08:21more motorcycles
08:22because
08:22that's what
08:23we do
08:23we make
08:24motorcycles
08:24but it's
08:25not just
08:25that
08:26we're going
08:27to continue
08:28to have
08:28more and
08:28more epic

22:27Thank you, thank you so much.
22:29I am so excited to be here to talk to you about the rolling testbed that is our electric Himalayan testbed.
22:39We've learned so much about this motorcycle around, we've learned so much about electric mobility with this motorcycle,
22:46but just some of the few of the key points.
22:49First is range.
22:50So while range is largely driven by hardware, it's not just the hardware.
22:54It's confidence in that range number.
22:58So to get that confidence, you need software.
23:00So the team has developed a machine learning algorithm that collects and analyzes the data
23:05to give you the most accurate range number that you can have, even as the entire terrain is shifting and changing.
23:13We've also learned and developed our ride mode calibration and algorithms.
23:18So what we wanted to do is bring ride modes that are efficient, that are visceral, that are predictable,
23:26and that each distinct ride mode feels like a Royal Enfield.
23:31That's extremely important to us.
23:34The team is constantly learning through the electric Himalayan testbed,
23:38as well as our other electric motorcycles that we're riding.
23:41These form a key part of the formula that make the Flying Flea motorcycles so exciting to ride.
23:51So last year, as BGR talked about, we were here and we unveiled the Flying Flea C6.
23:56Since then, the team has been extremely busy to bring that new City Plus electric mobility to life.
24:04This new chapter for us is a paradigm shift.
24:09So not only have they been working hard to bring that motorcycle to life,
24:12they've also been working hard bringing the motorcycle to riders,
24:15to thought leaders in cities across the world,
24:18from Paris to Mumbai, from New York to London, and many more.
24:26This new philosophy is deeply rooted in lightness, sophistication, and cutting-edge technology.
24:32with a mission to create a City Plus electric mobility experience.
24:39So what does City Plus mean?
24:41City is what we know.
24:42It's about getting in and around the city.
24:44The plus is where the real value comes from.
24:46The plus could mean living just outside of the city.
24:49It could mean finding something beautiful around the city,
24:52or it could mean finding a beautiful off-road area to ride in just outside the city.
24:56So while the C6 was visually inspired by the original Flying Flea,
25:04what we're bringing to you today, the Flying Flea S6,
25:08is the spiritual, or it has the spiritual essence of that original Flying Flea.
25:13It's light, yet tough.
25:17It's easy to ride, but still very visceral, very exciting.
25:23So presenting one of the most advanced scramblers in the world,
25:29the brand new Flying Flea S6.
25:31through City Plus.
25:40Das war's für heute.
26:10Das war's für heute.
26:40So the brand new Flying Flea S6 is designed to explore any road in and around the city with upside down forks, greater suspension travel, greater ground clearance, more versatile tires with aluminium spoke wheels, 19 inch in the front, 18 inch in the rear.
26:57It also has an enduro style seat that allows you to feel comfortable riding in the city but still move around when you get outside of the city.
27:04And the plus, to support that plus in the city plus, it has a dedicated off-road ride mode with lean angle sensing, abs, and trash control.
27:17And for those that want to have a little bit more spirit to ride, you can completely disable all rider aids for those that want to just push the limits.
27:25So, I would love to bring Siddhartha and BGR back on stage to pull the covers on this amazing brand new Flying Flea S6.
27:37Thank you.
27:38Come, come, come.
27:39You're the face of it.
27:41There you go.
27:49Flying Flea.
27:51There you go.
27:52I think it's the first time you've seen the scrolling as well.
27:58Yeah.
27:58First time I've seen it.
28:00Tapping voltage here.
28:03So, that's the Flying Flea S6.
28:08So, that's the end of the presentation from Royal Enfield.
28:12Thank you very much for all your time.
28:14And people out here and those of you who are watching online.
28:18And we have the Motorverse which is coming on on the 21st and 22nd of November.
28:23I would like to see you all there.
28:25Thank you very much.
28:26Cheers.
28:27Cheers.
28:27Thank you.
28:28Thank you.
28:29Thank you.
