A shocking case of harassment has come to light from the Refinery police station area in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, where a man identified as Harsh Saraswat allegedly slapped a young woman outside her house while she was chatting with her sister.
According to reports, the accused approached the sisters from behind and suddenly slapped one of them. The victim had earlier attempted suicide, reportedly due to the continuous harassment and intimidation by Harsh Saraswat, described by locals as a domineering and threatening man.
Following outrage on social media after the video surfaced, Mathura Police issued a statement saying: “the Station House Officer of Refinery Police Station has been directed to investigate the matter and take necessary legal action.”
Locals say the victim’s family had previously complained about the man’s behaviour, but no strict action was taken. The latest incident has once again raised concerns over women’s safety and police response to harassment complaints in Uttar Pradesh.
