A shocking case of lawlessness in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, has surfaced after a traffic policeman was brutally assaulted by a group of youths for simply doing his duty. The incident took place on Sunday near Chandra Cinema in the Nagar Kotwali area, when a Delhi-registered Ertiga car was caught driving on the wrong side, causing a major traffic jam.

When Traffic Constable Jamin Ali tried to stop the vehicle and clear the congestion, two men and a minor allegedly got out of the car and attacked him, tearing his uniform in the scuffle.
The entire assault was caught on camera, and the video has since gone viral on social media, sparking outrage over the growing impunity and public indiscipline in the state.

Eyewitnesses said the officer was beaten mercilessly in full public view while trying to enforce traffic rules.

Following the incident, Muzaffarnagar Police issued a statement saying:
“A case has been registered against the accused under stringent sections by the Kotwali Police Station. Two teams have been formed for their early arrest, and further legal action is underway.”

The shocking attack has reignited debates over rising aggression against police personnel and the declining respect for law enforcement in Uttar Pradesh, even as the state government continues to project its “law and order model” elsewhere.
