Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, S.C. is scheduled to undertake an official one-day visit to Tobago on Tuesday, 4th November, at the invitation of Tobago House of Assembly Chief Secretary Farley Augustine.

She will be accompanied by a team of senior Government officials, including Cabinet Ministers and Permanent Secretary to the Prime Minister and the Head of the Public Service, Natasha Barrow.

High on the agenda is Tobago's autonomy and the upcoming Tobago House of Assembly election. More in this Elizabeth Williams report.

00:00According to the office of the Prime Minister, her visit to Tobago is aimed at advancing the government's ongoing program of national outreach and collaboration with business and institutional partners across the sister aisle.
00:14It will also focus on promoting stronger governance, deepening inter-island cooperation and accelerating shared development priorities that drive inclusive growth and national progress.
00:27The Prime Minister's official program will commence at Signal Hill, where she is scheduled to attend a special joint ceremony hosted by the Signal Hill Secondary, Primary and Kindergarten schools.
00:40The event will feature student cultural performances, highlighting the creativity, discipline and the pride of Tobago's young people.
00:49Following this, Mrs. Passat-Bissessa is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Chief Secretary Farley-Akustin at the Office of the Chief Secretary.
00:59The meeting will focus on strengthening institutional collaboration between the central government and the THA, improving service delivery and advancing Tobago's development priorities within the national framework.
01:14The Prime Minister will then visit the Office of the Prime Minister, Central Administrative Services, Tobago CAST.
01:21She will later proceed to the Tobago House of Assembly, THA Legislature, where she is scheduled to deliver an address.
01:29Her remarks will highlight the government's ongoing work to expand social and economic opportunity, enhance public administration and strengthen national unity through practical people-centered governance.
01:44After the Assembly proceedings, the Prime Minister is scheduled to host a brief informal meeting with members of the Executive Council of the THA at her official residence in Fleming, Tobago, to further discuss key areas of collaboration and shared priorities.
02:02Later that evening, a reception will also take place at the Prime Minister's official residence in Tobago, beginning at 7 p.m.
02:10The event will bring together members of the Tobago business community, cultural and civic leaders, public officials and representatives of civil society in recognition of the enduring partnership between both islands.
02:26This official visit, according to the Office of the Prime Minister, underscores Prime Minister Passat-Bissassa's firm belief that the strength of Trinidad and Tobago lies in unity, cooperation and shared purpose.
02:40It also reaffirms her government's continued commitment to deepening trust and partnership with the people of Tobago in the spirit of equality, respect and national progress.
