Zohran Mamdani has been elected as New York City's mayor, defeating Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa in a historic election with over 2 million votes cast.

00:14In a victory for the Democratic Party's progressive wing, Mamdani defeated former Governor Andrew
00:20Kuyama and Republican Kiri Sliwa.
00:23According to a local report, the 34-year-old Mamdani secured 50.4% of the vote.
