00:00Surely you've read the countless Timu reviews about poor product quality, but what if I
00:03were to tell you that receiving shoddy goods should be the very least of your worries?
00:07Doesn't sound great, does it?
00:08I mean, sure, you can get some cheap headphones or a deal on a cashmere sweater, but what's
00:12the real cost?
00:13The answer to that is your privacy and security.
00:15Was it worth it?
00:16Timu spent an estimated $3 billion to launch in the US and even had a Super Bowl ad.
00:26And hats off to them for their wildly addictive app.
00:29By gamifying just about every aspect of it, they do a scarily good job at keeping users
00:33engaged.
00:34But according to Grizzly Research's damning report from September 2023, Timu is the most
00:39dangerous malware slash spyware package currently in widespread circulation.
00:44Google and Apple initially removed Timu from their stores over security worries, but it
00:48was reinstated after updates.
00:50Their privacy policy is vague and there's a US lawsuit alleging that it collects biometric
00:54and network data, raising questions about its true purpose.
00:57You gotta wonder, how can Timu be profitable if it's selling products for so cheap?
01:01Grizzly's report claims that PDD, Timu's parent company's true business model, is selling
01:06data in truly massive quantities.
01:08Because the selling of cheap knockoff goods is an unsustainable business model, the real
01:12money is in data.
01:14Moral of the story, delete the app.
