Oregon Ducks Coach Dan Lanning discusses starting off the game fast. Lanning talked about how both teams were playing good and the Ducks played aggressive. He emphasized finding an edge in aggressive games.

00:00When you talk about meeting your own standards in the first half specifically,

00:09in the passing game particularly when it was still not raining as much,

00:13how do you feel like you guys either upheld or didn't your own standards?

00:16I'll have to watch the film and see what they took away.

00:20Like I said, I thought they played some good defense there early on.

00:22It took us a while to figure out what's going to be successful for us.

00:25But we missed some opportunities, I think, early in the game,

00:28just a little bit off here and there.

00:30But we'll certainly improve and go attack it.

00:32Got to watch the film first.

00:36No points in the first quarter.

00:38How crucial is it to start off fast?

00:39And what do you think was the difference between starting off fast and not?

00:44I guess it wasn't that crucial to start off fast since we still won.

00:48But I mean, I love to start off fast when we can.

00:50Right. Again, we were probably feeling each other out a little bit at the beginning of the game.

00:54They were playing good D. We were playing good D.

00:56It's going to be who made the first mistake.

00:57You know, you're not always going to have a game where you go score 21 points in the first quarter.

01:01It just doesn't always work like that, especially you look at the defense they've played this season.

01:06They've played pretty good defense.

01:08And we were going to be aggressive.

01:10Like there were opportunities, obviously, to start off the game there with the onside kick.

01:13Felt like, you know, we tried a fake punt there at the end of the game.

01:16Felt like that was something where we were going to get a lot of pressure.

01:18I'm disappointed that we weren't able to take advantage of either one of those opportunities.

01:21But we're going to continue to try to find edges like that in games like this.
