Simon Riddle on Liskeard v Callington.
Transcript
00:00Yeah, a really good battle out there today, before we pushed a really good team obviously, probably favourites for the league all the way, not a lot of opportunities in the teams. Another day, we had a couple of chances there at the end, it goes in and we get something out of it, so we got really, really proud of the players today, everyone put a shift from start to finish, couldn't do a lot more, sometimes you just need a little bit of luck, maybe we could have got that in the last few minutes, but it wasn't quite to be, but like I said, really, really proud of it.
00:28We probably are, in terms of work, great effort, desire, all those kind of things, were our best performance of the season in that respect.
00:34And how pleasing was it considering the fact that you've lost a few players in recent weeks, and obviously a few players maybe playing out of position or players coming into Step 6 football for the first time, how pleasing was it to see them battle against, obviously, like to say, one of the favourites for the title?
00:50Yeah, really pleased, we're probably in a little bit of a transition at the minute, so last week we went to Falmouth with, I think it was eight teenagers in the squad, so we're a really young team, but sometimes I think if your numbers are a little bit smaller, you have a bit more togetherness,
01:03and I think today we really showed that, I thought everyone looked back to check their up, as a proper unit, a proper team, which was good.
01:10Last week, second half in particular at Falmouth, we were really under the pump, and probably lucky to get a point, but that said, again, we stepped to it as a group as well, and got something out of it.
01:20Today, really lucky not to get something, but there's a lot of positives in that 90 minutes there today, sorry, to take forwards, and, you know, we want to know, I think we're home in the next couple of weeks, get back on our pitch, and hopefully get some positive results going again.
01:34And the number of standout performances, individual performances, anybody in particular catch your eye?
01:40I thought midfield was excellent today, last week we were probably a bit naive in the middle, we lost the ball too much, today I thought they battled superbly from the first minute to the last.
01:48As a squad as a whole, like I said, to start with, I think everyone put their bodies on the line, last-ditch tackles, getting in there, winning the second balls, winning the loose balls, just that general desire to get on the ball, I guess I thought the pitch was excellent, and, you know, I wouldn't pick anyone in particular, I thought it was a whole group, but it was excellent today.
02:06And you've got Milparek at home next week, what are your thoughts on that one?
02:09Yeah, we're playing in Wales in the season, so it's coming in quite quick to play them again.
02:13Back at home, you know, we want to try and, you know, at home, we want to try and hit anyone, but we know there's no easy game in this league, if you don't turn up with the right attitude from the start, you can get caught out, so we need to make sure you're next week, like I said, back at home, positive from the outset, take the positives from today, because there's a lot to take out of that game, I think, even in defeat, you've got to take a lot of positives from that as a group, take them to Saturday, and hopefully we can win and get another result.
