We're here with Holdsman v boss Kevin Squire following today's Boxing Day defeat at Bewtown.
00:08
Kevin what are your thoughts?
00:10
Yeah it was not the prettiest of games I thought, two pretty average teams there.
00:17
We probably over the 90 minutes created a couple of quite good opportunities
00:23
whereas everything else was a little bit scrappy, the keepers weren't really calling to action at all.
00:30
The two chances we created didn't even hit the target so don't expect to get any positivity from that.
00:38
And the last couple of minutes their kids hit an absolute wonder goal in the top corner
00:44
and it was one of those games, fair play, I can't say the better team won
00:50
but then I can't say we were unlucky to lose, we were poor.
00:55
Whether that is application, whether that is a good day yesterday, whatever.
00:59
But that's what Boxing Day games are like, we've been involved in many good games and bad games.
01:04
You feel good some days, you feel bad some days, today we didn't perform very well
01:09
and it's a bit disappointing for me and the boys.
01:12
We've got to move on, it is what it is.
01:15
Yeah, overall feelings are a lot of disappointing.
01:20
We really got a piece of chances in the first half, like you say, which didn't take.
01:24
How key were they? And obviously trying to have time.
01:27
Bad games over the second half?
01:30
Yeah, I mean, when we turned up and I don't think there was much weather in the world.
01:36
I thought the conditions weren't bad, but as we were playing, it did seem to be kind of one out.
01:42
So we were against them in first half, but again, I thought we did alright.
01:47
I wasn't very happy with how we played.
01:50
Pattern was still not very good.
01:52
Movements were still not very good.
01:54
I can see a couple of people struggling with illness,
01:57
so we were going to pull out.
01:59
The main man, the captain, a few other players, a few other key players.
02:02
But that's the same for every team all over the country on a day like today.
02:06
It was a bit under the weather and cold.
02:09
But, yeah, I just wanted a little bit more, you know?
02:13
I wanted a little bit more. I wanted to put pressure on there.
02:16
We didn't do that. We had a chat at half-time.
02:18
We kept things the same.
02:20
I had to give people a little bit of confidence.
02:22
And it didn't really change things.
02:24
So I had to make some changes.
02:26
Again, half the pass.
02:28
It's just our agreement. It's just a disappointing day for us.
02:32
One positive was the performance of Mark Cortn at Left Wing Black.
02:35
He lives in America at the moment.
02:37
But how pleased are you with his performance?
02:39
Yeah, Will was a bit disappointed to be left out.
02:42
But I played Mark.
02:43
Mark's available.
02:44
He's a very big asset.
02:46
His energy and his enthusiasm.
02:48
You can see that I've known him a little while.
02:50
He's a great lad.
02:52
So he's back in town for a month.
02:54
So I thought we'd use him.
02:56
His energy was infectious.
02:59
He was very good.
03:00
Unfortunately, he didn't have the end quality today.
03:03
Which I know he has got.
03:05
But yeah, he's a good lad to have.
03:07
He just didn't work out today.
03:09
And you're back in action next Saturday with a trip to Sunday.
03:12
How do you go about trying to bounce back as quickly as possible?
03:14
Well, that's the thing.
03:15
We play.
03:16
We prepare.
03:17
We do what we were doing at the beginning of the season when we were 12, 13 games.
03:22
Things haven't really changed.
03:24
The squad hasn't really changed too much.
03:26
Unfortunately, the conditions have changed.
03:28
And that seems to have changed a lot.
03:30
But we'll keep working.
03:32
I'll dissect this a little bit more and see where I've gone wrong.
03:36
And yeah, we'll have a game plan for next week.
03:40
I've never been down there before.
03:42
So, look forward to New Year at St. Day.
03:44
What sort of game are you expecting against them?
03:46
I think they've beaten Penta out today as well.
03:50
Yeah, no disrespect to anybody in this league.
03:54
But your Liscardes and your Albertons, they are probably a different level.
03:58
Probably a wrestling calibre.
04:00
Everybody else, it's the same kind of game.
04:02
If you turn up, you apply yourself right, you win your duels, and you work hard, you're likely to get good results.
04:08
If you don't do any of that, each team can beat each other.
04:12
And I think St. Day are a bit similar to us.
04:14
A bit similar to Bude.
04:15
A bit similar to González.
04:16
A bit similar to all of those.
04:18
The league is what it is.
04:20
We haven't done very well in that competitive environment the last few games.
04:28
But we'll move on to next week.
04:30
And yeah, let's see how we get on.
