00:00Welcome to the video from the Auto Magazine Tuning Blog on the topic of comparing the Mitsubishi Grandis vs Renault Symbiats.
00:09Please note that our comparison is not a real direct comparison, but only a virtual comparison.
00:16The vehicles in the video are sample vehicles for visual representation.
00:21With the Mitsubishi Grandis, a new model will be presented in the portfolio of the Japanese brand from the end of 2025,
00:27which is based on the technical basis of the Renault Symbiats.
00:34This is another product of the close cooperation between Mitsubishi and Renault,
00:39in which the French supply technical platforms for the European market,
00:42while Mitsubishi provides them with its own design and brand features.
00:49The Grandis adopts a model name that originally belonged to Avanus from 2004.
00:54This time, however, it comes as a compact SUV with an extended rear.
01:01Visually, the Grandi differs from the Renault Symbiats only in a few details.
01:06The front section has been slightly revised and features a new bumper with a modified radiator grille
01:11as well as a redesigned LED graphic for the daytime running lights.
01:14The side view features unique designs for the alloy wheels,
01:20with the so-called flex wheels, 17-inch steel rims with full wheel covers,
01:25likely to be used in both models.
01:29The most noticeable changes are at the rear.
01:34While the Symbiats has pointed taillights with a distinctive bead,
01:37the Grandis does without this design in favor of smoother surfaces and less pronounced lights.
01:44In addition, the beading in the lower body area has the shape of a stylized hexagon.
01:50In terms of dimensions, the two vehicles do not differ.
01:54Both SUVs are 4.4 by 1 meter long, 1.79 meters wide and 1.8 meters high.
02:01The amount of space also remains identical.
02:05Both Groundis and Symbiats offer a rear seat that can be moved forwards by around 16 centimeters.
02:10This should benefit families in particular who want to flexibly choose between boot space and legroom in the rear.
02:18The interior of the Grandis is almost completely identical to that of the Symbiats.
02:24Apart from the brand logo on the steering wheel and specific graphics in the infotainment system with a 10.4-inch screen,
02:30no other differences are known.
02:32According to available information, it is not yet foreseeable whether Mitsubishi will introduce its own upholstery variants or decorative elements in the future.
02:43Technically, both models also share the same drive technology.
02:48Customers can choose between two hybrid solutions.
02:51The entry-level model is a 1.3-liter mild hybrid engine with 140 horsepower.
02:56While Renault only offers this with a manual transmission, Mitsubishi also offers an optional C-Bang dual-clutch transmission.
03:07According to users online, this is a practical detail for fans of automatic transmissions who do not want to opt for the full hybrid straight away.
03:15The latter delivers 155 horsepower of system power and uses a so-called multi-mode transmission, which is available from both brands.
03:23As far as the equipment lines are concerned, each manufacturer pursues its own strategy.
03:29Renault structures the Symbiote in the stages Evolution, Techno, Iconic and Asprey Alpine.
03:34The latter with a sportier design.
03:38Mitsubishi, on the other hand, is introducing the Grandy Star in the Diamond, Diamond Plus, Diamond and Special Intro Edition models.
03:47The exact details of the equipment details between the lines have not yet been published.
03:53However, it is known that Mitsubishi will also install the aforementioned 17-inch flex rims in the lower versions,
04:00while the top model will be delivered with 19-inch alloy wheels in its own design.
04:07A significant difference arises in the manufacturer's warranty.
04:11While Renault offers a two-year warranty for new vehicles with no mileage limit, Mitsubishi goes much further.
04:17It offers a five-year warranty up to a mileage of 100,000 kilometers.
04:25With regular maintenance, this warranty can be extended to up to eight years and 160,000 kilometers.
04:33According to many voices online, this represents a decisive advantage for potential buyers of the Grandy Star,
04:39especially with regard to long-term use and value retention.
04:44In terms of price, the Renault Symbiotes with the 140-horsepower mild-hybrid petrol engine is currently positioned at around 28,500 euros.
04:54The more powerful hybrid starts at around 33,000 euros in the second-highest trim level.
04:59Mitsubishi has not yet published prices for the Grandy Star, but experts believe they will be in a comparable range.
05:11The exact pricing remains to be seen.
05:15In summary, it can be said that the Mitsubishi Grandy Star is very similar to the Renault Symbiotes, both technically and visually.
05:21However, it offers minor design adjustments, an optional automatic transmission in the base model and, above all, the extended warranty period,
05:31which are significant differences that can play a role in the purchasing decision.
05:37The choice between the two models therefore depends less on functional differences and much more on brand preferences and service offerings.
