00:00and the Warriors lost a basketball game last night after Giannis didn't play.
00:03So, yeah, there's plenty to get into.
00:04Right, the Warriors lost a basketball game, and they've played six,
00:07and they've lost two, and I liked what you said in our show thread
00:10about load managing as a fan.
00:13You can look at last night, and you can have takes,
00:15and you can have opinions, and I'm hoping that everybody does
00:18at 888-957-9570.
00:20I looked at it and watched a lot of it again today and thought,
00:23you know, Milwaukee had some open threes, they hit them.
00:26They had some really difficult threes, they hit them.
00:29A former Warrior had a career night, and everyone in a Warrior uniform
00:32was mostly mid, so when those things happen, you're going to lose,
00:37and, you know, even with that, you got down late fourth quarter,
00:40you had a chance, and then they threw up a couple of just,
00:43not lucky shots, but tough shots, and an open three,
00:46and next thing you know, you lose.
00:48So, you get 82 of them, that won't be their 82nd best game.
00:53We already know it's not their best game.
00:54That game will probably fall in the 50s if you rank all of their 82 performances,
00:59there's going to be worse games than that,
01:01and there already have been better games than that.
01:03So, you just move on.
01:04Yeah, like what I said to Guru is what I sort of worked toward,
01:09what I want to say today about this basketball game,
01:12and maybe we meet the NBA where they sit,
01:15with all of this load management, and we need to do it too.
01:19Like, did this knock people kind of off their spot last night?
01:24I was excited about it, and we all have the same thought process, I think,
01:29when a star goes out, which is like, oh, cool, we got this.
01:34And Steve Kerr has tried to tell us before.
01:36I guarantee you he'll say it again today.
01:38He hates it when the other star of the other team is out,
01:41especially when it's last minute,
01:43because you have to sort of, like, reshuffle your game plan,
01:47and then you've got to figure out now, okay,
01:51who is this other person that we're guarding?
01:53Maybe their game plan kind of changes a little bit.
01:56That person's going to come in super motivated.
01:59That person is still an NBA player
02:01and capable of putting the ball in the basket.
02:03Was there a little rub your nose in it
02:05that it was a former Warrior draft pick
02:07that totally crushed the Warriors last night?
02:09Sure, I guess if you want that to be a thing,
02:11but Ryan Rollins has been through a bunch of years
02:14and a few different teams before, we're now realizing,
02:17turns out he's a pretty good player.
02:18There's a silver lining there.
02:20Sometimes I look at that and I go,
02:21oh, look, the Warriors were right.
02:23They actually saw something in this kid,
02:25and they were right.
02:26It didn't make it to the point
02:27where it's going to happen for the Warriors, but okay.
02:29Like, I don't know.
02:31For me, the topsy-turvy nature of if you lose a game,
02:38we're going to run to let's figure out why
02:41and immediately talk about what's wrong with the Warriors
02:46if you lose a game.
02:48I would much rather look at groups of games
02:51and assume that not all of them are going to go your way.
02:57It's the NBA.
02:58You're going to lose a bunch of these.
03:00You're going to lose a bunch of these.
03:02And I would like to, at least for me as a fan,
03:05I'm going to adopt what Steve Kerr already said.
03:08Steve Kerr said our goal every week is to win the week.
03:11And they went 2-1 week one,
03:14and they're 2-1 so far in week two,
03:16with one more shot and an opportunity to go 3-1.
03:20I accept that.
03:21I accept that.
03:22Like, I don't need any NBA team to be perfect,
03:27and I don't think such a thing exists.
03:30And if it did, gambling would be a lot easier than it is.
03:33Right.
03:33I know that.
03:34Certainly.
03:34And, you know, you look at winning the week.
03:36Even if you push the week 2-2, that's fine.
03:38And Steve had said this before, where you win the week,
03:41you're going to be a 50-win team.
03:42And he's absolutely right.
03:44And I just look at, in the small sample of what last night was,
03:48you went out to Milwaukee.
03:50They didn't have their star.
03:51And whether or not the Warriors let down or not,
03:54Milwaukee was clearly jacked up.
03:56And guys who don't normally get to shoot as much,
03:58Ryan Rollins is one, although he's having a great start to this season.
04:01But a lot of other guys, with no Giannis, you get the ball more.
04:05You get in more of a rhythm.
04:06You get to shoot more.
04:08You play freer.
04:09There's a lot less pressure.
04:10Those are the things that Steve talked about
04:11and will talk about with us today.
04:13And, you know, the Warriors, I thought,
04:15didn't really have that big response.
04:17In the third quarter, the other night against the Clippers,
04:20that was the quarter.
04:21And then last night against Milwaukee, the third quarter,
04:24and especially something to keep an eye on,
04:26the Al Horford minutes.
04:27The Al Horford minutes are not going great
04:30from a plus-minus standpoint.
04:31He had a couple of blocks last night.
04:33He had a three.
04:34But the second unit is going to be inconsistent.
04:36And last night they weren't great.
04:37Yeah.
04:37I just, like, I don't know.
04:40I apologize to everybody.
04:42But the Warriors lost, and my reaction was,
04:45shoulder shrug.
04:48And I, like, I say that knowing that there have been wins
04:51when we come in and we're excited.
04:54But, like, my excitement based on the start of this season,
04:58I think I tried to say this the other night.
05:00And, Dibs, I don't know if you agree with me.
05:02My excitement based on the season so far
05:04is not based on any one quarter, any one half,
05:09or any one game.
05:10I think that that's too much of an up-and-down ride.
05:14So, like, I hope it doesn't sound like we're in here
05:16celebrating the wins and blowing off the losses.
05:20I tend to think that I'm more looking at characteristics
05:25of the Warriors.
05:27Like, right now, their defense is not a completed project.
05:31That's clear.
05:32No defense really is.
05:34Yeah, we said that going into the Clipper game,
05:36which is why I was pretty excited that they had the effort
05:38that they had in that one.
05:41But my excitement about the Warriors right now
05:43is based on the puzzle pieces that I see in these games
05:48that have been there more often than not,
05:51and also projecting where I think that that can kind of go next.
05:54And I think they're going to win a lot more games than they lose,
05:57and that's what it's looked like so far.
05:59But I don't think they're a completed product.
06:02No team is without weaknesses.
06:04The Warriors have some too.
06:06But I'm just not going to get all out of whack
06:12when they lose a basketball game, especially on the road.
06:14Well, if they win a lot of games,
06:16and let's just put 52 out there
06:17because that makes a clean, even 30 on the back end,
06:21you're going to lose 30 games.
06:23If you win 52, there are going to be 30 games,
06:25like last night, where you lose,
06:27and you lost at Portland, and that was a much worse loss
06:30because you got run off the floor.
06:32It was back-to-back, and yeah, you retired, you traveled,
06:34whatever, it was a scheduled loss.
06:36And last night, without Giannis, you're thinking,
06:38yeah, this is a gettable one.
06:39Totally was.
06:40Milwaukee played better than you, and you lose.
06:42So if you're going to lose 30 games,
06:43you're going to lose 28 more games.
06:45And of those 28, there'll be a small handful of,
06:48oh, my God, they blew it.
06:50There'll be a small handful of,
06:51ah, they played great and they lost.
06:53There'll be a handful of, ooh, boy, bad schedule spot.
06:56There'll be a handful of, man, that team was just better.
06:59They're going to lose in so many different ways.
07:01And last night, for me, there was nothing as a big takeaway,
07:04like, oh, God, that's a problem.
07:06You got beat.
07:07That's what I'm getting at.
07:08Why can't the, oh, what happened?
07:11They played like crap.
07:12They play all right.
07:13They didn't play well.
07:14They didn't play terribly, but Milwaukee played better.
07:17Like, that's all.
07:18Yeah.
07:18And I do think Milwaukee deserves some credit.
07:22Absolutely.
07:22They shot the ball really, really well.
07:24We watched this in the NBA.
07:25Come on.
07:26Come on.
07:27If the better team won every night, Oklahoma City would go 82-0.
07:31They're the best team.
07:33That's clear.
07:34Is it not?
07:35That's the best team.
07:36But, like, the Warriors didn't play well last night.
07:40It doesn't mean they're not capable of it.
07:43Like, I'm already blowing off this whole, like, I heard a lot of people today go,
07:47oh, here would, it's the age.
07:50Like, oh, gosh.
07:51That's just so easy.
07:53That's so easy to just kind of throw that out there that it's the age and that
07:58there's fatigue and all of it.
07:59No, they played like crap.
08:00No, they played like crap.
