00:00Welcome to the video from the Car Magazine Tuning Blog.
00:04Today it's all about the new Volkswagen Golf GTI for the 2025 model year.
00:11For over four decades, the GTI has been the benchmark for performance-oriented compact vehicles,
00:17and the eighth generation remains true to this tradition with numerous developments and improvements in almost every area.
00:23In the 2025 model year, the Golf GTI will be offered in the S, SE, and Autobahn trim levels.
00:32In addition to a revised exterior and interior design, the GTI receives new technical features,
00:39an improved user interface, and expanded driver assistance systems.
00:43The starting price is around €30,000 for the S version, including delivery costs.
00:48The exterior of the Golf GTI has been specifically optimized.
00:52Revised headlights and bumpers, an illuminated VW logo, and an illuminated strip in the upper grille characterize the new face.
01:01The familiar red line of the GTI now also runs through the headlights.
01:06The new GTI emblem now appears on the front doors.
01:09The new color palette complements the existing paint finishes with slate blue metallic and alpine silver metallic.
01:15New 18-inch alloy wheels on the S and SE, 19-inch on the Autobahn, and the brand's signature red brake calipers underscore the sporty character.
01:25The body remains based on the MQB platform.
01:30With a length of 429 cm, a width of 199 cm, and a height of 147 cm, the GTI is particularly compact.
01:41The wheelbase remains unchanged at 236 cm.
01:44Targeted aerodynamic measures such as special exterior mirrors, a new DAX spoiler, and optimized underbody paneling have reduced the drag coefficient to 0.31.
01:57The clean lines, the large, curved lower air intake, and the pronounced side skirts leave no doubt about the vehicle's dynamic ambitions.
02:07Two curved tailpipes, a diffuser, and a roof spoiler dominate the rear.
02:15New LED taillights and door handle illumination are standard.
02:19At night, the exterior mirrors project a sterilized golf ball pattern with the GTI logo onto the ground.
02:25SE Autobahn versions also feature automatic high beam.
02:30The interior features sport seats with integrated headrests and the signature gray-black tartan pattern.
02:35The SE model also offers optional two-tone leather seats with red accents.
02:42These are standard on the Autobahn.
02:45A black headliner, stainless steel pedals, carbon-grade trim, and ambient lighting with 30 freely selectable colors provide a modern flair.
02:55Particularly striking is the new freestanding 12.9-inch display, which is slightly angled toward the driver, a feature otherwise more commonly found in the premium segment.
03:04Operation is partly via illuminated touch sliders below the display.
03:09A digital control panel to the left of the steering wheel controls lighting and visual functions.
03:14The 10.20-inch digital cockpit pro instrument panel offers multiple views, including a special GTI graphic with a central tachometer.
03:24Optionally, a navigation map can be displayed simultaneously in the instrument cluster and on the main display.
03:32Control is via the new multi-function sport steering wheel with red accents and touch buttons, which also includes shift paddles and a button for the driver assistance systems.
03:43The infotainment system includes the Discover Pro system with navigation, voice control, Bluetooth, HD radio, and Sirius XM streaming functionality as standard.
03:53The plus speech voice assistant with artificial intelligence can be used free for one year.
03:59Smartphones can be paired wirelessly via the Kinect app.
04:02A new 15-watt charging pad enables wireless fast charging.
04:06Four USB-C ports with 45 watts of charging power are available in the front and rear.
04:12The sound system includes seven speakers in the S model, while the SE and Autobahn offer a harm carton system with 480 watts, nine speakers, a subwoofer, and a 12-channel amplifier.
04:24The cargo space has a capacity of approximately 560 liters in its basic position.
04:28With the rear seat backrest folded down, this volume increases to approximately 980 liters.
04:32The cargo floor is variably adjustable.
04:36Additional comfort features such as heated front seats, air conditioning, a rain sensor, keyless entry, leather options with seat ventilation, heated rear seats, and a head-up display are available depending on the equipment.
04:49The car is powered by a 2-liter V4 turbocharged engine from the EA8880 series.
04:55It delivers 241 horsepower and a maximum torque of approximately 336 newton meters of just 1,600 revolutions per minute.
05:07It is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with automatic start-stop and launch control.
05:14The engine features an integrated exhaust manifold design, variable valve timing, and improved internal friction, resulting in greater efficiency and quieter running.
05:25Fuel pressure is 5070 psi, almost double that of the previous engine.
05:32Combined fuel consumption is estimated at approximately 8.7 liters per 100 kilometers, 28.4 mpg, according to U.S. authorities.
05:38The chassis has been extensively redesigned.
05:41New dampers, stiffer sprains, and an improved rear axle design ensure greater precision.
05:48The progressive steering has been retuned and allows for a very direct driving feel with fewer steering inputs.
05:55The vehicle can be steered very agilely in less than two turns from lock to lock.
06:01The front axle uses an open differential with electronic locking and a battery pack that intervenes variably depending on the situation and reduces steering effort.
06:11An adaptive damper system.
06:14DCC is standard on the Autobahn model and can be individually configured for extreme sportiness or comfort.
06:20The Eco, Comfort, Sport, and individual driving modes adjust the steering, throttle response, gear shift strategy, and dampers at the touch of a button.
06:30Electronic brake boosting ensures short stopping distances with precise application.
06:35The braking system comprises ventilated discs with a diameter of 34 cm at the front and 31 cm at the rear.
06:42Standard equipment includes six airbags, a rear-view camera, and the IQ drive system with semi-automated assistance functions such as travel assist, front assist, lane assist, side assist, rear traffic alert, emergency assist, and adaptive cruise control.
06:59Travel assist operates from 0 to approximately 150 km per hour.
07:03It detects lane markings and surrounding traffic and automatically keeps the car in its lane and at a safe distance.
07:12A capacitive steering wheel monitor ensures that the driver always keeps their hands on the wheel.
07:17In an emergency, the system actively intervenes.
07:21Additional assistance functions such as automatic lights and high beams, traffic sign recognition, park steering assist, and emergency braking assist expand the safety features depending on the equipment line.
07:32The new Golf GTI of the 2025 model year thus remains the sporty all-rounder it has always been, with even more technology, comfort, and driving dynamics.
