00:00Let's begin with the Houston Cougars, a team that made it to the National Championship game,
00:04really played exceptionally well early on in the game before losing to Florida.
00:09And why am I high on this team? It begins right there.
00:12That's Milo's use on. Milo's use on that did a great job at the point for Calvin Sampson's club.
00:19And then obviously we know what happened.
00:21He tried for the NBA, pulled his name out of the draft, and now is back with the Houston Cougars.
00:28But that's not the only returner that is of significance.
00:31We have to talk about Emmanuel Sharp, the gunslinger, the shooter, the mad bomber from Houston
00:37that kind of shoots threes at a ferocious clip.
00:40He is back for his senior year and is proud to be possibly an All-American
00:44as he looks to end his career with a national championship.
00:48But it's not just him that's back. It's Tuggler, Tuggy Fresh.
00:52Tuggler is such a dynamic force and the anchor of that backline defense
00:57arguably the best defensive team in college basketball year in and year out.
01:03But there's two additions that you need to know about with the Houston Cougars.
01:07Number one is Pop Isaacs. Do you remember Pop Isaacs?
01:10Was that Texas Tech? Then I think went to Creighton, if I'm not mistaken.
01:14Pop Isaacs is now in Houston.
01:15And that gives them more depth at the guard position.
01:18A guard that can shoot the ball and create off the bounce.
01:22And then there's lastly part of the top five recruiting class of this year, Chris Sinek.
01:29He's a 6'11 monster that's going to man the pivot with Tuggler.
01:33That's going to form a ridiculous backline.
01:36So they're back.
01:38Run the city. Rip city. Whatever you want to call them.
01:41For the city. They're back.
01:43And that's the Houston Cougars.
01:45Let's move on to the team that defeated them.
01:47And that's the Florida Gators.
01:49A Florida Gators team that, obviously, Todd Golden did a great job in that run they had in the second half of the year and winning the national championship.
01:56They have their bigs back.
02:00Right?
02:01You got to look at how in his way to shoot the ball as a stretch for the play of Alex Condon, that second half of the year, right?
02:09Being that post-presence, rebounding presence.
02:11And we can't forget about the dirty work that Chinilu does in the pivot.
02:15So their frontcourt was set.
02:18So what did Todd do?
02:20He went to the portal and he got those two.
02:22Leading off with Boogie Flan from Arkansas.
02:25A dynamic playing point guard that could really do it all.
02:30But it didn't stop there.
02:31Florida beat out St. John's for Xavier Lee.
02:35Now this kid is an absolute stud.
02:38If you have not watched this kid play at Princeton, you are missing out.
02:42Now, what Florida may do, folks, is they may go to a point guard system with Lee and Flan in the backcourt together, which I've been told has been dynamic in practice and should be released next week.
02:57Well, I just talked about Xavier Lee and what he's done.
03:01Well, let's go to another point guard in Boogie Flan, and that's Braden Smith, and the number one team in the country to start the year, and that is the Purdue Boilermakers.
03:10They have the best backcourt in the country.
03:14Braden Smith, Fletcher Lawyer.
03:15They are dynamic.
03:16They're experienced.
03:17They can do it all.
03:19Kaufman Wren took a huge leap last year with Zach Eadie being on and became a dynamic scorer that I think can do some things.
03:29I want you to not sleep on the name Jacobson, okay?
03:33This is an open seven-foot player that is a different player than Zach Eadie, a little bit more athletic, a little bit more dynamic defensively, which kind of can protect Kaufman Wren because I used to get concerned about him in regards to what he can do in regards to going against bigger lineups.
03:50So those three top teams should be there pretty much the majority of the year.
03:56The Big Ten isn't as strong, so Purdue will be up there.
04:00Obviously, we know about the grind of the SEC that Florida's going to have to go through during the year, and obviously, we talked about the Big 12 has always been one of the best leagues in the country.
