00:03Today we're talking about the brand new 2026 Leapmotor C16,
00:08a large five-seater SUV that has just been unveiled in China.
00:13This model year brings numerous innovations and is aimed in particular at fans of new energy vehicles
00:18who value modern technology, range and comfort.
00:24The Leapmotor C16 was originally launched on the Chinese market in June 2024
00:29and was initially available with two different drive concepts.
00:34As a fully electric vehicle and as a so-called EF, i.e. an electric vehicle with a range extender.
00:41At the time of its market launch, the price ranged between around €20,000 and €24,000.
00:48A year later, the Stellantis-backed manufacturer is now presenting the refreshed flagship model.
00:53The 2026 version features around 70 improvements, including a new five-seater configuration.
01:02The revised model is visually very similar to its predecessor.
01:07It offers a restrained, minimalist design with a narrow LED strip at the front,
01:12retractable door handles and a striking air intake.
01:15The body measures approximately 4.9 meters in length, 1.9 meters in width and 1.8 meters in height.
01:24The wheelbase is a generous 2.8 meters.
01:27The progress is particularly evident in the interior.
01:31The new Leapmotor C16 is now available in two versions.
01:34Either with six seats in a 2 plus 2 plus 2 configuration or with five seats in a 2 plus 3 arrangement.
01:42The five-seater version impresses with additional comfort,
01:46as four of the five seats have ventilation, heating and massage functions.
01:52Another highlight is the trunk, which offers an impressive maximum volume of 1,000 liters
01:57when the second row of seats is folded down.
01:59There is also an integrated refrigerator with a volume of 8.1 liters,
02:05which even has a heating function.
02:08Leapmotor has also upgraded the technology.
02:12The C16 is equipped with a Snapdragon chip and uses a LiDAR sensor,
02:16which is operated by a Qualcomm processor with a peak computing power of 100 trillion computing operations per second.
02:22The system is supplemented by 5 millimeters wave radars, 12 cameras and just as many parking sensors.
02:31A comprehensive AIDA system is therefore on board as standard.
02:36The all-electric version of the Leapmotor C16 is based on an 800-volt high-voltage architecture.
02:42The basic model has a lithium-ion-phosphate battery with a capacity of around 75 kilowatt-hours.
02:50This is an increase compared to the previous version with around 68 kilowatt-hours.
02:56The range is now around 580 kilometers, which corresponds to an increase of around 60 kilometers.
03:02The top variant even has a capacity of around 82 kilowatt-hours and offers a range of 630 kilometers according to the CLTC cycle.
03:15This version is powered by an electric motor on the rear axle with a peak output of 300 horsepower.
03:21The IRF version, on the other hand, uses a 1.5-liter gasoline generator with 95 horsepower to support the electric motor,
03:30which delivers an output of 231 horsepower.
03:34This version is available with two battery sizes, one with 28 kilowatt-hours and one with around 39 kilowatt-hours.
03:43This gives the electric range between 200 and 280 kilometers, depending on the version.
03:51The price for the Leap Motor 1016 for the 2026 model year starts at around 19,000 euros and goes up to over 23,000 euros,
04:00which is slightly below the level of the previous model.
